Tony Allen was one of the best Defender's i ever had the privilege of watching period. Im 41 this year and started watching the NBA at age 4 in 1987-88 season so I've watched some great defender's and i definitely put him near the top obviously it was easier before the hand check was taken out of the game. Jordan and Ron Harper and many other good defender's weren't as effective after the hand check was removed. Tony played in an era where the rules were made for the benefit of the offensive play and still 🔒 down almost every single match up he faced.

I'm surprised Tony did not mention D Rose as the hardest to guard. I remember watching those Memphis Grizzlies versus Bulls games in Rose's pre-injury years and specifically one bucket where in crunch time the Grizzlies tasked Tony Allen to defend D. Rose on a crucial play in the 4th quarter. Rose hit Tony with a hesi and then a Blow by, went to the cup and bodied Marc Gasol for an and-1 with the lead. Tony Allen was first team all defense, except when he was guarding Rose. Derrick was flying past him, that's why I'm a bit surprised he didn't mention him as one of the hardest to guard if not the hardest to defend. Props on the podcast Paul Pierce a damn foo😆
