  • This piece is focused on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima.
The Guru gu (गु) and ru (रु) in ancient Indian terms is the one that quite literally takes darkness & is responsible for shedding the light that dispels it.
    Knowledge liberates all.
Guru Purnima is the day where in which we remember our teachers. In India it is considered one of the most important days in the calendar.
Students are given blessings from their Guru's (Teachers) and in return, students offer gifts, flowers, prepared pieces of art or music and more.
Kaashi Arts with Recording Earth produced this piece at the home of Pandit Sanju Sahai ji the current head of the Benares Gharana (house) of Tabla. The production captures the major scenes from the day and intends to give audiences the essences of this very special occasion.
