- Norway had one of Eurovision blogger, Alesia Michelle's, favorite acts last year. Will they be able to deliver again? Watch Alesia Michelle's REACTION to this year's Melodi Grand Prix participants.
Aleksander Walmann, Stella Mwangi, and Alexander Rybak are returning. Are those pros going to be able to represent Norway again? MGP 2018 will be hosted by Kåre Magnus Bergh and Silya Nymoen and is set to take place on the 10th of March. The winner will go on to earn the right to represent Norway at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Lisbon.
Also, the participants:
-Alejandro
-Alexander
-Aleksander
-Alexandra (and Stella)
WOWZA!!!
PINUZA LOL! Yes lots of A s to play!
And 4 past participants are in the fray now.
-Rybak from 2009
-Stella from 2011
-Morland from 2015 (writer for Rebecca)
-Aleksander from 2017 (JOWST composed the song)
Alejandro is Norwegian, but he's got roots in Chile. He actually requested permission to sing in Spanish for the Norwegian final, and he also speaks the language fluently :)
I'm from Norway and i liked these songs: Moren Din, Tengo Otra, You Got Me, Scandilove and That's How You Write A Song.
I like most these two: Moren Din and Tengo Otra. I saw the first semi finale from Sweden, and liked these songs: Dance You Off, My Turn, Patrick Swayze and Solen Lever Kvar Hos Dig.
Next semi finale from Sweden is this Saturday.
I LOVE your reaction, had me laughing so hard.
I feel like Rebecca is clearly the best. I wish I liked more songs in the selection because Norway in the past have sent some of the best entries to the contest. Oh well
Thank you!
I have Switzerland Latvia Belarus Czech Republic on my channel if you’d like a recap 😁
Thank you thank you! I'm coming to you for Latvia and Belarus #WooHoo!
I definitely agree that Rebecca's song is leagues ahead of the rest
Thank you! Wow
Rebecca Best of luck!! We are all rooting for you🙏🙌
Ok for me Tengo otra is the best option to represent norway because is something different and the fact that is a song in spanish make it more attractive, also this is a song that I could listen to not only on the radio in Europe, but also on the radio in South America.P.D: he's from chile.
I revisit this video every so often for a pick me up.
the song Moren Din is literally about him being in love with his BFFs mom you can only like this song when you don't understand the lyrics
I had the exact same reaction to Alexander Walmann’s song. So disappointed, his song was my second favorite song last year
flormach I actually like it. :(
I think Aleksander has the best song in the selection.
flormach i like this song
Such a let down.
Someone tell me please who the winner is from thw national selection if it already happend
Hahahah I am dying out of laughter :D Everyone who speaks a bit better English knows how many cringe worthy entries are among these 10 song :D Your reactions were so honest and funny and I love it :) Rebecca for the win!
Thank you so much
React to Depi Evratesil songs(Armenian selections) as well
Alejandro has been around the Norwegian music scene since he was on Norwegian idol in 2005! He was a little pudgy when he was younger, but has really blossomed. He had success with fellow idol and world idol winner Kurt Nilsen with the other guitar buddies Askil Holm, Espen Lind. I like the songs, and really don't hate any of the songs like other countries. I think Rebecca's song is my favorite since it's written by Morland!
Shame. I'm Norwegian and this selection is the worst by far, no qualification for us this year. I was very excited when I saw Alexander, Ida Maria and Aleksander on the list, but what a let down! People say “listen the song four times and you'd love it” well the thing is that in Eurovision you need to have a strong impact the first time you perform your entry at the semi, it's not going to be a five times performance.
Also I don't why it's going to be held the same day as the MelFest, we'll probably be the joke again
what about uk?
I really like Alexander Rybak
I have the same idea with you, I hope Rebecca can win, her song is so strong. I personally think “ stop the music“ is also not bad. but kind of disappointed to Aleksander and Alexander as well. But best luck to all of the contestants.
Why is norway trying to pull a Denmark 2016? Almost all the songs are like lighthouse x, forgotten and left at the semi final
I think you need the full songs.
I'm Norwegian and yes I'm disappointed this year, I was so pleased with "Grab the Moment" last year. I kind of like "Talk to the Hand" but, sorry Aleksander & Joachim (Jowst), I don't think you'll get a second chance at the big trophy in May with this one...
I had your same reaction when I heard Rybak's train wreck 😂 The Spanish song is a BOP
As a norwegian this is the worst qualifying we eeeeeever haaaaad! Im so embarressed that we actually can never learn, i want our part finals back again, seriously! :P Rebecca is the one and only thats even worth to defend our honour, she has a strong voice and would totally kick ass! The song is ment for Eurovision from the start to end of the song, good build up.
only 10 songs?
My reaction to MGP 2018 was exactly the same as yours lmfao I was expecting more from Norway
Alejandro should be the winner 100%. His song is authentic reggaeton, and it's about the only semi exciting one in this selction.
I am from Norway and i have listened to all the songs several times and i think i have a good understanding of who should win, but anyways here is my list.
1st Place: You Got Me - Stella Mwangi & Alexandra Rotan (it's actually really good)
2nd Place: Vidar Villa - Moren din (Love the song except for the awful lyrics)
3rd Place: That's How You Write A Song - Alexander Rybak
4th Place: Who we are - Rebecca Thorsen (It's kinda boring but her voice is good)
5th Place: I Like I Like I Like: Tom Hugo (Kinda generic and repetitive but still pretty good)
6th Place: Scandilove - Ida Maria (why so sexual? lol.)
7th Place: Talk To The Hand - Alexander Walmann
8th Place: Light Me Up - Nicoline (Boring.... And what's with the awful pitched vocals in the back of the song? EWWWW)
9th Place: Stop The Music - Charla K
10th Place: Tengo Otra - Alejandro Fuentes (This can not be real? it's in spanish... just for that i give it 10th. A spanish song can't represent Norway in a song contest. NO WAY!)
I’m Norwegian. When I heard the songs I was very disappointed. Well, some of them I kinda like, but still disappointed. Hopefully they’ll look better on stage 🤞
Very bad contest this year.....Im so so so sad.😢
It really is disappointing.
Bojan Bogicevic cant belive you are just saying that with no feelings at all, the participants/singers really tries their best to win and you guys are sitting here like “of these are so bad oml I hate em! I’m so sad and disappointed!” No offence! Everyone can have their opinions but you are pretty harsh on those songs
REACT TO OPERACION TRIUNFO (Spain NF)
Lol, Alesia's savage. XD
7:22 OMG he's singing "I want your momma". :S
Please react to umk 2018!
Yeah I agree Rebecca's song is the only good one and it is miles above the rest, of any other song wins I'll be disappointed
I like Alejandro's and Nicoline's those have potential with the right staging. That's it tho.
Woah... I like Morland and stuff he does, but that song by composition is a let down. Rebecca has got cool vocals though. Dunno what to say with selection so far.
I actually like this selection. Dissappointed by Rybaks song though.
Are you going to react to Armenia’s songs??
Coming :-)
Im not in love with any of these songs at the moment. Not like Adelen's Bombo or Agnete's Icebreaker. Last year Grab The Moment was cool also.
Rybak is representing norway 2018 so what du you say he is sooo good the Song is Perfect (i disagree with you)
Sarah Fritzl it should not qualify... if is does it won’t finish top 10 and it shouldn’t. There is a difference between “fun” and a joke...
Rebecca is the best option
I am also really disappointed
Yeah I'm disappointed, too... And it's not like these are even bad artists some of them are GOOD (like Alexander Ryback, Aleksander Walmann, and Ida Maria) but these are the WORST songs they've ever released. Like I feel like Ryback is going to be his charismatic self on stage but the song needs A LOT more than that to be good. Ida Maria's song (Scandilove) could actually work if it has an exceptional staging but that's hard "could". And the better songs of the bunch (i.e. Rebecca's, Alejandro's) I feel are just too forgettable. This is really odd for a country as strong as Norway and I wouldn't be surprised if one of these songs gave their country their worst result in a long time. I guess that's what we get for the Estonian, Swiss, Czech, and Hungarian selections being as strong as they are this year
I have listened to the songs for the first time just now with you and I have to agree, very disappointing entries. Not what I usually expect from MGP. Maybe the spanish one and Rebecca's stand out the most but not even a ''winner material'' (or top10 for that matter)
I'm so glad you also don't think Rybak's song is good. I've seen it get a lot of praise and people think he'll win eurovision again, but I really hope he won't represent Norway.
It's like Norway gave up. Scandilove is funny. The rest are just mediocre esc songs.
I'm Norwegian and I pretty much completely agree with you.
This selection of songs is so, so bad compared to other years. I don't have a single song that I properly enjoy. (And don't even get me started on the Rybak song. It's like a fun how-to song made for kids! Why is this trying to go through to Eurovision?!) All the songs are just so boring and most of them don't stand out at all. Well, a few do, but not in a good way.
And sending "funny" songs to Eurovision, especially in Norwegian, is just so cringey. If you don't know, the song is basically about a guy that's in love with his best friend's mother. Original, I know.
And the Spanish one... I feel like Despacito is a bit done and over now. It's a good song! But most people, including me, are a bit sick and tired of it by now so I doubt it'll do well. I also feel like the song is a bit "flat" and boring. Oh, and just as a fun fact: Alejandro was born in Chile. :)
You need to listen to Alexander rybak' s song fully! It is amazing in its full form, you have to forget fairytale, like non Eurovision fans that watch on the night
No... I listened to the whole thing. I can't take it serriously.
Matthew Andrews this is the only comment ive seen that made me happy in a while of a hell of a long day of seeing hate! I just dont Get Why Its wrong to make a song about How you make a song, it sounds weird when im saying it But Its just genius that he said it in a catchy way! Its nothing like fairytale! Its much more different! And Its really catchy and Good! So thanks for making me smile with this Nice comment to Alexander:)
Listen to Alexander rybaks song a couble of time u need to listen to it at least 4 time
I listened. I don't ever want to hear it again.
Rebecca is boring af, sorry :/
I'm rooting for Alejandro. If a hispanic derivate gonna get out of any country, it's his. It's authentic and it does feel like it would chart around Miami, like a real young upcoming hispanic-american talent
Our best choice by far is to send Rebecca. A song that could do well on stage.
There are no LED's in Lisbon because they are cheap.
No song stands out for me, they're all so mediocre. The Spanish reggaeton, Nicoline with her cool look, the joke entry about making love like a Scandinavian and Aleksander talking to the hand are the only ones that can pass the semi.
OOooooohhh no boo. Alejandro, Nicoline with the right staging, and maybe Rebecca are the quality entries that "could," pass the semi everything else is either a joke or mediocre.
Alesia Michelle Ok then, Nicoline for the win lol. Are you in DC?
Moren din go and look at the lyrices its ew i really hate it its so ugly
Rybak's song is bad indeed
dino ESC your taste in music is bad indeed
,,you got me"- sounds like disney song sings by Meghan Trainor. ,,Scandilove" is like Icona Pop. Tom Hugo's song is a cheap copy of Justin Timberlake vibes. Alejandro sounds like Despacito :D Vidar Villa's song is similar to little talks by of the monsters and man. Aleksander song is bad and Rebecca sounds little like demi lovato - skyscraper.... Norway shame of you ...
So sad... I almost didn't post the video because I was so underwhelmmed.
Alejandro's song is a Latino music style track but I really don't think it sounds like Despacito.
Rybak will win with that catchy song.
Catchy doesn't mean good. Catchy doesn't mean quality. Catchy doesn't mean qualifying...
Alesia Michelle Of course. You need more than catchy. But I think song appeals to a wider demographic than the young part of the Eurovision fan base. I shared your view when I first heard it, but then I listened more analytically, and all the ingredients are there. It's also the only one of the ten where I can remember the hook. The melody is well though out.
Anyway, love that you are doing more videos. I love discussing songs with other Eurovision fans!
The selection is a disappointment. 'Scandilove' and 'Talk to the hand' are the trashiest so it has to be one of the two.
"who says talk to the hand anymore?"
Answer- Norwegians
#cringe
Subpar selection. Not pleased at all. This load of crap is not even remotely in it to win it. Don't count on Norway this year. So disappointed. blæh
When I saw that this years MGP was gonna have Stella, Alexander and Ida Marie I got really excited, but then I heard all the songs, and there wasn't a single one that hit me. They we're all bad or mediocre. MGP has gone down hill after they changed how it worked, so I'm not surprised tbh.
