They are one of the greatest band of all time. Great musicianship but, more importantly, genius songwriters, especially the bassist Steve Harris. They have so many good ones. Some are: Alexander the Great, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, 22 Acacia Avenue, Powerslave, Revelations, To Tame a Land, Transylvania, Ghengis Khan

Please, not run to the hills, its been played to death already. Its the one and only commertial maiden song radio channels always play. Maiden got tons of amazing songs to choose from.

Oh man you just stepped into the Maiden world. There is a reason why they have been one of the biggest live acts for four decades. Saw them for the first time 35 years ago, saw them again last month (many times in between)...they still kill it. Might try Fear of the Dark live in Rio

Steve Harris is brunette man on the bass. He is amazing and plays with finger plucking style. He plays LEAD bass if that makes sense.

I saw Iron Maiden in the Powerslave tour and was totaly blown away. The bass player plays like a lead. Amazing! UP THE IRONS! At the show ,there mascot Eddy was the whole backdrop and his arms reached out into the audience. Like I said it blew me away. Please try to find a video with Eddy the mascot. I have a huge flag of Eddy from Piece of Mind hanging in my living room .l love it but it creeps the ladies out. Oh well. Not that it matters but I am 58 and still being a kid. Party till ya drop!
Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are two founding Metal Bands.
Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath were technically the beginning but held on to a lot of the 70s Rock sound and look.
Priest and Maiden really revolutionized the METAL look, sound, and culture and set it apart from Rock.
Just about my favorite metal band of all. Saw them in '85 in Houston. Try Flight of Icarus, The Trooper, Revelations, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, 2 Minutes to Midnight

Oh yes! Up the Irons son! What a great band! I have. Even listening to them since I first them in 1982. Saw them firstly in 1985 and (sadly) not again until last year in Las Vegas where I took my daughters( both in their early 20’s) who were seeing them for the first time . It was fantastic. These guys still sound like they did 35 years ago and kicked major ass! We all had a great time.
"Run to the Hills". I saw them last fall, great show.
Iron maiden is the best . I have their vinyl from way back and absolutely rock on the album covers.
Seeing your reaction to these bands when you hear them for the first time is priceless. Just realize that you have not yet even begun to scratch the surface of all the great music from the past. Im still looking forward to the day when you might check out other greats such as Leo Kottke doing Vasaline Machinegun, or Roy Clark playing Under the Double Eagle, or Malaguena. They may be acoustic but will rock your world. Some of the most mind blowing guitar work ever.

IMHO the best British heavy metal band, they’re my favourite. My claim to fame...they made me a day late going home from my sister’s! My brother in law was a coach driver, he drove them on one of their tours of Europe, they were late getting on the coach home, and my brother in law was supposed to drive me to get the train, so I missed it, he had to drive me all the way home (Essex to Liverpool U.K.) the following day 😁

Welcome to the club homie! “Prowler” from Iron Maiden for sure! First song from the first album the first time I heard it the opening riff that started as soon as I dropped the needle on the album dropped my jaw for like a week. And 39 years later it’s still awesome. If you would like to hear another very dramatic and opera-like piece listen to the band Judas Priest the song ‘Dreamer Deceiver’. Enjoy. Metal rules.

Listen again and you will hear a tapping sound that follows the bass line. That's Steve Harris galloping on the bass. He hits the strings so that they tap the neck of the bass. It's very loud.

This song has it all. It's metal but they never lose the melody, there are modulation changes, tempo changes, vocal overtones, and it finishes with lead guitars harmonizing. That's some epic shit. But my favorite Maiden song is 2 minutes to midnight because I'm corny af lol.

Iron Maiden have never made a bad song...they're still going strong after 44 years....check out Fear of the Dark or The Clansman live at Rio....Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Paschendale, The Trooper , Revelations, Aces High, Run to the Hills the list goes on and on....you will get hooked... there's 16 studio albums to choose from but stay away from the ones with Blaze Bailey on vocals....enjoy

And that, my friend, is why Iron Maiden are one of the most influential and ground breaking metal bands of all time. Bruce Dickinson isn’t called the Air Raid Siren for nothing! These guys are serious;y talented musicians and songwriters and you have some great songs ahead of you. From the same era you should maybe try Revelations, The Trooper, Run to the Hills, Flight of Icarus, Two Minutes to Midnight, Aces High or Children of the Damned. Once you have been inducted into the Maiden family, then you will be ready to tackle The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
