"Changes" is arguably the best song on '90125.' I saw this tour live in 1984 in Jacksonville. It was a GA concert and I was right against the stage right in front of Trevor Rabin (guitar, lead vocals - on this song). It was the 3rd time I had seen Yes live. The other concerts were 1976 (Milwaukee) and 1980 in San Diego for the Drama Tour when Trevor Horn (lead vocals) and Geoff Downes (keyboards) of The Buggles ("Video Killed the Radio Star" fame).
I also saw them in 2009 in Milwaukee for the In The Present Tour when Benoit David was the lead singer. Then again in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2019 with current lead singer, John Davison.
So I've seen Yes with all 4 lead singers!! BUT, Jon Anderson is THE voice of Yes!!!!! I even named my only son, Jonathan after him!! ✌💙

Though this 80's line up is referred to as the "Rabin Era", it's actually the first time the band was back to having three original founding members since Close To The Edge in 1972.
The previous line up (Drama-1980) only had one (Squire).
Incidentally, in spite of the fact that Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman had left, Drama is a GREAT album.

Hey Pope! Just a side note about Trevor Rabin the guitarist. He is so talented. Has done dozens of music scores for movies and has many solo albums out plus what he did with YES. He is from South Africa. Not much talent comes from there. Much different style than Steve Howe. Trevor brought to the band exactly what it needed in the early 80's. YES was reborn with 90125!🔊

As far as Yes live videos, aside from the classic "Yessongs," which is from the Close to the Edge tour (1973) you may want to check out "Tales from Tsongas" which is early 2000s and has is well recorded, visually stunning and features a more "classic" lineup. from 90125, I recommend you do a reaction of two songs back to back - Cinema and Leave It. That's the two songs, in order, that open side 2, and I think they segue and contrast well with each other. Cinema is the one instrumental of the album, and maybe a bit more "progressive" than the rest on that album. Leave It is the 2nd hit single, after Owner Of A Lonely Heart. As such, it is fun, funky, and catchy, but maybe a bit more complex than some if their other 80s pop moments. It has an interesting a capella vocal harmony intro, showcasing a cool vocal interplay between Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Chris Squire, that harkens back to some of the vocal harmony roots of Yes

This album shocked me at first, it was like pop-metal YES. But eventually I had to admit that 90125 was a fantastic album. But I missed Steve Howe, (even more than Wakeman) Trevor Rabin is a superb talent, but Steve's raw, unorthodox, eclectic approach to the guitar was missing from the YES sound and was replaced by Trevor's refined, power chords and hard metal crunch. Normally that would be a blasphemous 'NON-YES' development, but it just so happened that Rabin was at the very top of his game, one of the very best hard rock guitarists. He was suddenly claiming the top guitarist titles in all of the music polls, he was up there with Eddie Van Halen Yngwie Malmstein, and Steve Vai. So I did end up accepting their new sound, but I still don't listen to 90125 or Big Generator very often.

Guitarist Trevor Rabin who replaced Steve Howe in 1983 brought a new direction and hard edge energy to the band and was a major influence in the creation of the album 90125 and their more commercial 80's sound. Like Howe he is a virtuoso and also a fine vocalist, Jon and he sharing a lot of the lead vocals with the 80's/early 90's material. Also original keyboardist Tony Kaye returned to the band. Trevor wrote "Changes" as well as another great song "Hold On" performed here on the same tour, this clip is taken from their official tour DVD czcams.com/video/0pHeAROucGc/video.html Cheers

I saw them during this tour in 1984 and I was curious if they would perform only their new stuff because I thought it to be very difficult to replace Steve Howe on guitar. But Trevor Rabin managed to play some of that songs without problems. And though I think he did not really replace Howe it didn't really matter because he put some colors to the Yes music that made it shine again in a different way and additionally to that he is a second lead vocalist and brought in some showmanship. So not only did I have no problems with the show but I was glad to be there: czcams.com/video/8mes9H6G7rg/video.html

That's Trevor Rabin who replaced Steve Howe on guitar. There are more great songs on '90125' and 'Big Generator'. In 1995 Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman rejoined the band and they wrote 'That, That Is which you're going to love. 80's YES isn't as good as 70's YES, but 90125 is still a very good album. It's just not as Progressive as their music from the 70's, but they made millions, so good for them. Trevor Rabin is a very different guitar player from Steve Howe. Both are amazing, but Steve has a very unique sound and style of playing, but I'll take Trevor's voice over Steve's, though Steve's harmonies were always pretty good.
