- S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure is just one of many literary works that perpetuates the prevailing romanticized view of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. We explore how The Princess Bride adheres to the age-old traditions central to storytelling in Medieval times, literary culture in the Middle Ages, and the development of romance (the literary form).
Romances pictured include: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, The Canterbury Tales, Sir Eglamour of Artois, La Chanson de Roland, Perceforest, the Aeneid, Yvain, Tristan and Iseult, and more

I wish you could do a much longer video on this - your channel always leaves me wanting more. (And I intend that as a compliment.) :)
There is no original version tied up legally; Goldman made the whole thing up.
😉
Love this movie! And I have the Goldman book too, I think the buttercups feel quite different. I actually turned her love speech for Westley for into a monologue for high school drama, so fun!
Amazing! I'm in love with medieval literature, and the medieval versión of "bad romance" is just *chef kiss*
Love this movie. Fun to watch with friends. Great video, as always! 👍
As usual, great!
I love TPB so much
“Impossibly perfect characters” *shows clip of Westley* YUP
incredible video❤
Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely LOVE this book and the movie. Love the video!! Your channel is so awesome!
(A cool book/movie comparison might be North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. It only has one adaption, I think, but I would like to hear your views on it.)
Actually there are two filmed versions. The older one stars Patrick Stewart as John Thornton.
Monica Call really?? Cool, I’ll have to check it out!
Christina Catoe yes. Stewart is good, but he’s no Richard Armitage. The actress who plays Margaret Hale’s wasn’t very good either. I can see why the BBC felt the need to remake the story. Have you read any other books by Elizabeth Gaskell? Some of them also deserve to be made into miniseries.
Monica Call ohhh, okay. Well, it’ll still be nice to check it out, and see how it compares.
No, I haven’t read any more by her, though I’ve been itching to. I just read North and South not too long ago, after having watched the miniseries with my Mom many times over. Hopefully I can get my hands on some more of her books soon! Any specific ones I should check out?
Hi, I do really love your videos. I have a suggestion. There is a remake of REBECCA on Netflix.
I have read the book and watched Hitchcock's movie. And I was wondering if the new movie is going to remain faithful to the book.
Will be a video on Arthurian legends?
Is the background music Bad Romance?
Hey do you like wuthering heights
