    To everyone out there. If you want your carb to look and work properly give this guy a call. I was going to try and plate my own parts until I looked at all the cost involved. I can say 1 thing ! Screw that I sent my carbs to Harold and what I received back was a new carburetor . I swear it just came from the factory and the price was what I thought cheap compared to what you had to do to get the same results. If you think about all your labor not only taking it all apart but then dealing with all the chemicals if you don't screw it up ! He is cheap !! He's honest and straight forward and that is hard to come by today. I was going to have a guy in NY rebuild my carb for my 68 Camaro and he wanted 3 times more then this guy so do yourself a favor and write him,call him or send it by a pigeon if you have to . You won't go wrong .

    The tubes on the out side are for the accelerator secondary system. I have used Red Loctite on loose tubes and worked fine. Is the carburetor a 7040205 or 7040204?

      @2ndvette Před 7 lety

      Cool. It is a 7040205. I can do the red loctite on them. Do you have a website or something that shows charges to one restored, as I am hoping next year to do that.

      Hi Vette
      I am a retried Chevrolet Mechanic. I just do the work out of my work shop. No web site. Small Potatoes. I charge $165.00 for Qjets + $20.00 shipping back to you. If you are missing parts or the choke pull off is not working it is extra. That includes Plating/Gaskets/Needle Seat/Float/Primary Olite Bronze thottle shaft bushings.
      Thanks Harold

      Harold Demes On the top plate I noticed mine is missing the tube on the rear, think it's for TCS. Is this something that can be obtained? Also how do I contact you for a rebuild. Looking at getting it done in the next couple of months.

    Have a fresh unfired Weston built 340 I'm about to install in my 73 4spd Cuda. 30 over, 10:76.1 Edelbrock 60775 heads, stout solid roller.1.5 SS PRW rockers, Splayed caps all forged internals. Real nice engine. Coming out is a non #s matching mild 340 with a real clean aftermarket six pack. Which I would like to put on the new engine. I assume things need be done to the 2 brls in order for them to keep up with the new power. Although the new engine came with a ports matched Performer intake I feel the six pack is the way to go.? Is this something you would be interested in taking on. Or possibly tell me what needs to be done? Thanks for your video, I appreciate your time. On a Qjet, the round brass tube that is in the top cover, drops out. Any suggestion on how to correct this. I was thinking about seeing if I could find something that would fit inside and then see if I could knurl it somehow. Was thinking maybe pressing side of a file into it by hand.

    • @backnine

      Which tube is falling out?

    • @2ndvette
      @2ndvette Před 7 lety

      Harold Demes the one on the top cover (air horn) and are the outer tubes. If it helps this on a 1970 corvette LS5 Qjet. The left side tube seems a little lose in its hole. The car has not run in over 20 years before I bought it. Previous owner went through engine and lost interest before the engine was put back in. The carb was fairly clean on the inside, and only thing that stood out was that tube that was laying in the body, when the top was removed.
