This is what a lot of collectors forget. It's not just about hoarding games. It's also about storage and presentation.
Storage and presentation of anything is a challenge. I collect records, comics and just started back up collecting gaming stuff. But my goal is to only collect anything I'll actually listen to or play. Besides the comics. The comics I like aren't of any particular value. Only to me. Same thing with my records. I just want a room that's a place to escape to. I have my guitars and amps. I want to add a entertainment area with games and consoles. But I also want it to be my work/hobby area. Me being basically the sole person presentation will only matter. I don't like showing ppl my things because I've had break in's before and losing anything you work hard to get is always heartbreakingly frustrating.
Most people don't have 4 rooms to display their collections! lol

This is such an outstanding collection I’ve never seen a library this big of video games, i’m blown away by everything you’ve collected I can’t wait to see more of your shows I’m a huge fan and wish you and your family nothing but the best.
Something I love about this is it's clearly a lifelong passion, and a collection that's built up over years and he's excited about every aspect of games, even things like the manuals/guides. He sounds so happy and I hope I'll get to be this passionate about something one day too

My best friend was a spoiled brat. He had All of the Nintendo NES games, Commodore 64, Sega and every G.I. Joe and Transformer you could want. Needless to say, I practically moved in with him for 3 years.

Some of the retro games are more difficult than they appear. Getting up to the kill screen in Donkey Kong and Pac Man would take several years of practice. And beating the NES versions of Ghosts n Goblins and Gauntlet on the real system as opposed to an emulator is a nightmare. The Last Gamer has way more games than he can possibly master.

Absolutely nutso collection! It's really nice to see probably 99% of everything there in excellent shape and working order, very few things in an inoperable state. Well presented and easy to access anything in the collection with minimal trouble. It's obvious that most of the collection does indeed get to see the light of day.

@@desertedstranger2914 In theory, it's not. Unless life is very relative? From what I can recall, they say that you can 'save' a human life for $3,500 US via donating the best way. That means it's very objective. We have just valued life, to some degree. So, if you spend 1 million dollars on a stupid piece of artwork, that is, by definition, deeply wasteful and immoral due to the great damage it has indirectly done. That's why some moral philosophers suggest the best way to live is to give everything away and live on the streets (or just live on very little). Of course, that's a bit extreme. So, it's a bit relative, I suppose.
If you buy the game when it comes out yes its expensive but if you wait a while. Case in point that keyboard controller built for the ps2 cost 60$ when it came out after a while I seen it for 5$ at bestbuy they where clearing it out. I also got hey you pikachu for n64 for 10$ at toys'r'us.

When i first watched one of your videos about a year ago i thought to myself "Fairplay to this this geeza, his collection is more about the preservation of history and real emotional attatchment to these games rather than just completing collections for bragging rights to total strangers over the internet".
Im starting to realize now that you're the rarest part of this whole collection, No one else out there shows the level of dedication and absolute love of video games that you have, you dont just name drop rare titles and wait for a reaction, you genuinely know and appreciate every single game you talk about and always have some sort of personal account of the time it released or at least some unique experience with it, its just so entertaining to watch and i just want to say thank you for everything you're doing, it really means alot for someone like me who has a genuine interest in the history of the gaming industry, so from me to you Joel Hopkins, thank you and never change!

Connor Bowles Same with me but with GameCube games. Ironically I went to a swap meet and found an nes, snes, n64, and a Wii all next to each other each one with its own huge separate box with a bunch of games for each. I just want GameCube.

NOSTALGIA NOSTALGIA NOSTALGIA!!!! I really enjoyed this video. I remember selling many of those video games for 10 years (as my 1st job) and I know how hard some of those titles must have been to acquire. Then you ended your video with arcades. Which if you had a MAME arcade cabinet you could not duplicate the feeling as the original arcade feeling. I remember when I was young going to an arcade room called the Wizard. Me and my friends loved it, unfortunately the owner was killed while working there and that place no longer exists. Thank you for helping me relive some of my favorite moments in childhood.

This is me showing my friends my 9 in total video game disks for Xbox and PlayStation, with my DS games as well.
Im a proud owner of a wii with 3 game discs, 2 of them came with the console and 30 pirated games on a usb stick
