@@ConstantUNTILisnt He can't promote it as long as the black can trade queens, because he doesn't know how to mate with king and rook.

The eval bar mirrors Levi's heart palpitations
17:42 the eval bar was going crazier than levy
Bro in the end it's stalemate. Can't stop laughing
That end is insane mans pushed the pawn across the board and sai yeah thats enough pawn moves
100% the thought was that "making the queen will get taken, so what's the point?" And, technically, because the queen was on the board, the game went from a lose to a draw (let's ignore that it was winning to make the queen in the first place).
He didn't want to overextend his pawn L:
It's obvious the guy just has a ridiculous blind spot and can't see his rook on A1, which would explain why it didn't move for 99% of the game lol. I almost had a heart attack watching him give away everything like that
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@cantrelljohansen2493 what he saw was "oh if i make a queen he will just take it" and likr you said forgot about the rook
15:01 - "The most difficult move to see is the backward knight move" - Vasyl Ivanchuk

Haha I swear this video is pure GOLD. I was laughing the whole time. The mistakes made in this match are kind of bad but Goth's reactions are worthy of a place in history.
Tbf to White, they thought that promoting to a queen is only worthwhile if they get to keep it, so they didn't want to promote because they knew they would just lose it right away, without considering that it would be a massively good trade in their favour.
Not even sure if black would’ve made that move lol.
I can imagine Black taking the knight and loosing his queen in the process lol.
white might have been uncomfortable with a rook-king endgame mate even though it's not that bad (if a bit fiddly) and they did have the knight to help out
As a 500… they would make a move and I’d be like “oh smart move” just for levy to go “that was the worst move you could play”😭
yep he was just waiting for the enemy queen to move away i see the 500 logic
Or maybe they just don't know how to checkmate with a rook
16:53 "Anywhere the king goes" reminded me soooo much of "Any way the wind blows". Who knows, knows
The fact you see a piece attacking and then forget about it the very next move is the most 400 thing to do ever. It's absolutely stupid that it happens. But it does happen.
15:48 “The king is butt-naked, now you have to attack!” is the quote I live by everyday

Stalemate was the best outcome for this match of the century
The ending was so funny and I like how levy says the players are going to make a good move but then he says what stupid move they actually did
i think he was scared to trade the pawn for the queen even though it's forced mate, because at 500 NO ONE knows how to checkmate with rook and king. A lot of people even at 1000 don't know how to do it
I learned it when i was like 6 year old
he still had another pawn, and king set up to freely take blacks last one. just didnt make any sense lmao
I'm a 400 But I can do rook and king mate pretty easily
Sounds like cap. At 1000 if you don’t know, how did you get there? 💀 I feel like most games would be won like that
@@Wasteman365 some people have more natural ability to see certain tactics or they practice puzzles, but don’t learn the end games. Getting to 1000 literally just requires basic tactics, one solid opening understanding for each color and nothing else

love your videos man, the sense of humor you have is bar none the best. your charisma just jumps off the screen. you killed it in toronto as well.
i absolutely love Levy's intros, they get me every time XD
I had the same reactions as levy in the whole endgame
At 17:08, I think the reason white didn't make the queen is because he saw that a8 was defended by the black queen on g2 and he didn't want to make a queen just to lose it immediately. It's silly, but it's exactly the kind of evaluation I can imagine a 400-500 or so player making. He probably thought he had a better play than to make the queen and trade with the opponent, even though doing so would put him absurdly ahead in material, especially considering that pawn on the b file that could just promote to another queen in case white isn't confident in pulling off a king and rook checkmate.
I've played against the hillbilly attack so many times and I don't think I've seen a single person retreat bishop b3 on move 2 ever. Didn't even know that was the main idea, tbf neither did any of my opponents.
Same, I was so confused. Like, how do you play the Hillbilly attack and not play it right? It's such a stupid looking line I just assumed people knew what they were doing when they played it...
@@thearcanehunter2736 Nah these guys are like, "me move bishop to c4 on move 2 after e4 no matter what black does" presumably expecting to be able to play Qh5 afterwards.
The balding hairline speaks for itself👌🏻
I've gotten to the point now where I analyze my games as if I were writing a script for one of these videos (with help from the eval bar). It actually helps me figure out when/where I make stupid mistakes and how to recognize when I need to check myself and slow it down. Also, LMAO at the eval bar swinging 100 points in a SINGLE move. I'm pretty sure white didn't just promote the pawn because they either didn't know that king+rook vs king is a win, or just didn't know how to do it
I just got to 400 ELO today. Feeling proud and now I stumble upon this. Keep it up Gotham, from the UK.
