In the track "Fever" Little Simz went full on brazilian funk mode and even landed a verse in portuguese which was amazing to see/hear. Also, Kanye West just sampled a brazilian funk song in his first Vultures listening party yesterday, so yeah. A great day for the genre to see two great artists getting inspired by a marginalized but huge music genre in Brazil.

I love how the first track gives deep ancestral vibes and also super futuristic sounds. I’ve been listening to this ep on repeat since it came out and wow I just love this exploration. If you’ve listened to the 101 fm radio show episodes she put out showcasing music she enjoys you can totally get her references through this EP.
When you said Mood Swings sounds "predatory", I immediately thought of Bjork's "Hunter". Similar vibe to me. Anyway, loved the reaction.

Ohhh I like the train metaphor for Power. My first thought was it sounded like she was physically in the club, but mentally she was distant - like standing outside looking through a window into a warm room (the muffled piano and horns). That disconnectedness of that makes the production feel right to me.

Hey Bob, big fan! I know you prob get hundreds of recs every day and have a big backlog of albums to listen to, but I think it would be super cool if you reacted to “Everything Based” by Lil B. Lil B is super influential to modern rap including the culture and the music itself and I think it’d be dope to see what you think of his stuff. Artists like Peggy, Carti, Tyler, and Rocky have all specifically shown him love and cited him as an influence but his influence can be seen all over modern hip hop. He has over 80 projects but “Everything Based” is his most consistent and hard hitting work imo and has a lot of his classic songs on it.
