      I do tires here in ohio..id definitely recommend putting a thick piece of metal under the bed like 4×4 an like half inch thick. That bed is super thin an the weight of compressor will tear the bed body.4 pieces, one under each bolt.

    Put a fuse on that AUX power cable off the battery. That 4 AWG wire shorted to the body of the truck could cause it to burn your truck down.

    The ALTIMATE tire truck is a 12' cube truck with a liftgate anything less is just a tire truck, everything is out of weather and won't be stolen if locked up, LOL. Did tires for 51 years!

    just curious why you guys didn't go with a truck you can mount a service bed to to? they have a lot more storage and are a lot easier to mount the tools to like cranes, compressors, and hose reels and lift gates

    When trying to move one of those compressors, go to a party supply store and buy a tank of helium first, and then you can fill the compressor tank with helium it'll make it super light and easy to move.

    Does that compressor keep up with the 1" impact guns? The shop i used to work at had an engine mounted air compressor that worked great.

    Nice job! I know manufacturers recommend to keep it away from walls and stuff to give it some space to the air to flow, do you know if it’s safe to keep it the way you do? Love your channel by the way!

  • @hylandfoto
    @hylandfoto Před 2 měsíci +4

    Is the compressor only bolted to the sheet metal of the box? It’s so heavy, I would think you would want a metal plate as a backer underneath and higher grade bolts, not the normal ones. (Maybe you did all this, it’s hard to tell). That thing is so top-heavy, you don’t want it coming in the window in an accident! 😬 love the build video!

    • @TheTireDoctor
      @TheTireDoctor  Před 2 měsíci +1

      If it comes in the window in an accident the truck is totalled before that even occurs 😂

    You could piece together a 90 off the block drain plug at the bottom of the engine. Get it out past the frame with a valve making oil changes super easier.

  • @kevenhiemie
    @kevenhiemie Před 2 měsíci +2

    A piece of angle going from one corner to the other of the compressor under the bed could really help stop that thin ass metal from ripping.
    It's a shame you pay 6OK plus for a new truck and the metal is only a little thicker than tin foil.

    Its good that its F250 but if i was your brother i whoud get one with Dual Tire axle in the back its more durable and powerful model and more traction for carrying Air Compressor and those tool boxes

    What did you put under the bed of the truck to hold the compressor

  • @bobojesse8540
    @bobojesse8540 Před 2 měsíci

    What about four anti vibration mounts (or silent blocks) between the bed and the compressor? They would isolate the compressor from the bed when flexing and the truck from vibration when the compressor is running. Just saying...

    What's the reason for using a compressor with a small internal combustion engine rather then one with an electric motor powered by the truck's alternator?

    • @TheTireDoctor
      @TheTireDoctor  Před 2 měsíci

      Because then you have to keep the truck on to power something like that or the truck will die lol

  • @ryand4168
    @ryand4168 Před 2 měsíci

    Why didn’t you spend the extra two dollars and buy the hardened bolts? Plus you certainly should have welded some flat iron or angle iron from the frame to bolt the compressor down.
