How generous! Usually we see videos of tourists being overcharged in India. This is so refreshing. Nice 🇮🇳
small autowallah and streetside vendors really dont have much earning, eating maybe once a day or twice if lucky. Plus people in India are very good hagglers and make sure to buy goods and services as cheap as possible. Thus when foreigners come here (The general idea here is, foreigners in general are rich people) they ask more from you guys. It is just the burden of necessity that weighs on them. But yeah, there should be a limit to how much extra one can ask from a tourist as it also affects the image of our country.

It’s a legendary restaurant in Kolkata. It was established in 1905 . We have been eating there since my great grandfathers time. The original location is in Zakaria Street near the famous Nakhoda Masjid in Kolkata. They are also famous for their Mutton Tikia in the same gravy as Chaamp.With Rumali Roti it’s heavenly.

Im a 4th generation Indian from South Africa. We also eat with our hands. Thats why we have hand wash liquid and water😊. It beats drinking wine thats stomped with the feet 😂. Simply love Chris and Max and our brothers and sisters in India ❤.
Just heard in a CZcams recipe channel when you are in Calcutta you have to try street style indo Chinese food in Calcutta because the Chinese food first started in Calcutta then it spread to all india.
Chris - When you are in my city ( Kolkata) , you try Royal, Siraz , Arsalan , Bhojohari manna ( authentic Bengali food), College Street Coffe House( Most Intellectual Place ) , KC & Vim Nag.Sweet.
Very impressed by your Hindi, your ability to eat with your hands and your general outlook. Royal will always have a special place in my heart - it's one of the forgotten gems of Calcutta. Also, the dessert was shahi tukra which literally means 'royal slice'.
You should be in Pune, Maharashtra next month for one the biggest festival which is celebrated for Lord Ganesha. The festival lasts for 10 days. You will be overwhelmed for sure.

Kolkata biryani and lucknow biryani is almost same. Lucknow king was deported to kolkata at British empire time. Then they started making biryani with potato and little changes. This new version came to be know as Kolkata biryani.
There is no new version the reason is patatos , in those time patatoes ki kheati yahan nhi hoti thi us waqt patatoes baher se aate the Patatos royal vegitable tha us waqt isleye biryani k sath combined Kiya Gaya tha or successfully acha bhi howa
Kolkata Mai Mughal period same us waqt se tha jab lucknow Mai tha tu ye kehna ghalt hai lucknow se biryani aaya Kolkata k nearest Hooghly district Mai ek Masjid hai jo jama Masjid se bhi purani hai 150 saal
Or woh masjid Zafar al Ghazi ne bana ya tha jo loudhi periods k waqt k the
I'm from Calcutta itself and this restaurant is near to Arsalan.. Excellent hospitality and food tbh and there is a restaurant near to this which is Zeeshan.. In both of these restaurants I got Shahi Tukda complimentary even though I'm not a foreigner.. We talked very nicely with the staffs and when we tried to tip them for their services.. They just took 20 rupees just bcoz we requested them to take it.. Really amazing hospitality and impeccable food !!

Hii Chris & Max, Shahi Tukda is made of Bread, Normal bread dipped into sugar syrup, some garnish on the top almonds & cashews, that's it
no. the bread is fried, then soaked in Rabri. there's a long process in making Rabri
