    When I was a little boy, my grandma worked as a seamstress and I can still see her today, half a century later, sitting in front of her old Singer sewing machine, operating the foot pedal.
    So, thanks for bringing me good memories. ❤️

    My machines go straight into the washing machine. 5 laborious washes, drying and oiling. I love it, then I also understand the machines. A lot is also disassembled. The ultrasonic cleaning is also amazing. Everything shines like the first day in the sewing machine factory. And then they stand like in a gallery in my meticulously clean workshop.

    I can well imagine that there would still be someone in 2121 who would restore a sewing machine from 1920. But is there someone else who cannot imagine, that someone will restore a 2021 sewing machine in a hundred years?

    • @cs-rj8ru
      @cs-rj8ru Před 2 lety

      Well why not? The way things are going, economics may dictate restoration of older machines....There are many machines today that are every bit as well made as the old Singer 45k. (Juki 441 for example) that would easily last a century. Now, who knows if thread will be available in 2121.....Sewing may simply be obsolete.

    I hope that's not wd-40 you are using on her. WD-40 is not a lubricant. It's a water displacement, thus the letters W D. As it dries, it will gunk up the joints you put it on. Only lube I use at my work bench is Tri-Flow. Excellent product and recommended by several sewing machine companies.

    Grew up with mother's old Singer, Tread-Driven, sewing machine. It had a leather belt drive that was my job, as oldest son, to maintain.

    When winding the bobbin, keep the presser foot up, to avoid the feed dog to grind against the presser foot.

    Cool..I have the same machine as well as the singer 29k patcher you have in the background. My 45K25 came with a 2880rpm clutch motor that ran too fast,so am replacing it with a servo motor...Just about to mount the servo control box.
    I'm just looking at videos to make sure the belt is in the right place and the machine is threaded properly.. I haven't used my machines as yet.
    Thanks for sharing your restoration Mikko..Cheers from Sydney Australia.

    Excellent restoration Mikko; what a find! Like many others, we have two old treadle Singers, with one relegated to the attic, and the other as a side table with potted plants adorning it. I am now inspired to restore the best of the two. Surprised the needle system is still available for your machine. Have you tried sewing any heavy fabric with it? Best, Vernon in West Vancouver

Would you please tell me what you used to clean the body of the machine and what did you put on the leather to clean the needle ? The metal plate on my machine is a bit rusty, did you put WD 40 on fine fine sandpaper to clean yours ?

      I mostly used just wd40 for cleaning. In tough places some mineral spirit. Cleaning rust is easy with 600 wet sand paper and wd40 or just water. For polishing needles, a piece of leather and some fine polishing compound, any brand will do. Thanks for watching.
