    Riga, the capital city of Latvia. Riga has so many different cultures, from Russian, German, to Swedish, so I think it’ll be a really interesting day. We’re at the Freedom Monument, which is a memorial to all the Latvian people who died during the Latvian War of Independence. It’s a really majestic monument, and I love the detailed statues there as well. Today, it’s a really important symbol of freedom for Latvian people. Behind me is the another lovelock bridge. We’ve seen quite a few of these around Europe, and while Nathan doesn’t really see the point, I think they’re really romantic. This is, by far, my favorite one, and if I would’ve know this was here, I would definitely have brought a little lock and written our names on it. We’ve had a great day walking around Riga. It’s been really fun to see the different styles of architecture. You can really tell the Germans used to live here, the Russians and also the Swedish. So we’re going to finish the day with some Latvian Ice cream.

    Locks: you don't see the point? You must not be the romantic type. Today it's a common practice thanks to the practice beging included in many books and films. A young couple in love attaches the lock to the bridge and throws the key in the river "locking" their eternal love forever.

    Russian .... I mean Riga has so many cultures. Russian, German, Swedish... you want to say that again? Riga has so many culTURE. Russian. Oh yeah and there's a few Latvians mucking about as well. Where the fuck did you invent Riga is full of cultures? Even of their own Latvian people? You're right fucking there, in Riga at the time of this video. Do your recording after you've touched down from the train for at least 20 minutes.

    certainly not in Estonia though. Btw looks, taste and idea of beauty are a very relative and individually defined concepts. Some people might consider people of Sweden, Estonia and Latvia not handsome at all. Best looking people argument is fruitless and frankly ridiculous.

    Not at all against complimenting the beautiful and unique city of Latvia (or any other city for that matter), but for the sake of a fare and honest perspective, other than merely praising its lovely architecture and all the friendly and approachable the local croud is, in my opinion (and what I conceive it would be also in honor to their dignity) they might as well at least get a glimpse of the Latvians current social reality, which by the way is so evident it couldn't escape to the most inconspicuous visitor's eye... The "Españoles en el Mundo" (Spaniards around the World) like format of this grim video is so overly-vanilla it seems out of an amusement park-style production. Just pathetic.

    • @TotalRookie_LV
      @TotalRookie_LV Před 7 lety +2

      Война 1918-1920 годов против немецких и большевистких захватчиков. В ее результате советская Россия была вынуждена подписать мирный договор с Латвией и таким образом стать первой страной признавшей ее независисоть de jure, чем иногда любят кичится россияне, мол "если бы мы не признали вашу независимость, то вас бы вообще не было", вот только про обстоятельства забывают. Одновременно, пока еще шли бои с большевиками, Германия так достала Латвию, что та сама обьявила войну Германии в 1920-м и оттяпала чась Прусии, ныне это прибрежная часть Литвы. Потом кщк от Германии требовали репарации как от проигравшей стороны, но в середине двацатых этот вопрос как-то замяли.
      Короче, немцев в Латвии не любили, очень не любили, было за что, но в 1940-1941 совки сотворили чудо - заставили многих поверить, что немцы меньшее зло.
