there are few things that are music to my ears quite like a crying used car salesman.
4 years have passed since he posted this video? I feel like calling him up right now to talk about fiero's.
Everyone should call him to talk fiero, even if you are seeing this post 10 years from now.
You talked about nothing for the first 4 minutes. I came to hear the problems. Get to the point
Yes it is worse than hearing about the 1986 Fiero someone had back in 1989
I didn't even listen.
Thanks for the heads up, just skipped to the 4 minute mark.
I swear, if the Fiero looked any less than it does those would all be in the scrap heap! They are the poor man's Ferrari, and even me, the poor man, hated them after one trip in the rain or lined up against any mustang newer than 90!!
Its all about getting his sheep followers to buy his merchandise and do donations
I sold my 1987 Fiero GT on a Fiero Forum in a single day. Guy showed up from a neighboring state with a trailer the next day and didn't even haggle on price. I like forums as it's a community and no one wants a bad reputation who post as most are known there.
Jessica Greene
It’s the same with older Volvo’s
For any FUN or COLLECTABLE car, forums and car clubs are the ONLY way to sell them. Higher sales price, faster sales, less haggling, happier buyers. Of course your buyer from there will have stories too, but you only have to listen to them once!
Yeah same thing with Saab’s The forum are where the real collectors of nich cars are .
Was it Pennock’s fiero forum?
If I had 4gs I'd take it right now no questions asked
Was this a rant party.. ur a used car dealer.. sounds like u caused the issue of the failed sales..for the whole time u had it.. it was never sold as a sports car.. it was a economical 2 seater.. the failure was u mr art of the deal.. ive had 7 fieros bought and sold driven and loved..
This!!!!
And you’re still alive???
@@i3oosted me..yes.. and I have 3 fires in my driveway... and still mad at this but I'll get over it... lol... 👍
Man good video but man, let me tell you about my 87 fiero
Yup. Originally owned 88' Formula back then. You needed brawny arms to turn that steering wheel. Pontiac: We build excitement? Lol
@@lugergold3163 funny the 88s had power steering and new suspension package
@@danawick9817 I believe select dealers offered a package to add electro-hydraulic steering, but it was not standard for 88
Lmao, I love hearing all the bullshit people think they know about fieros.
@@bloodystinktube321 how so everyone i know with an 88 has power steering and the cradle is different because of the suspension upgrade in 88 which was the last year they were made. on a side note i think the manual steering is better for the winter months lol
Back in my day we had to push our Fieros back and forth to school, up a hill in the snow, both ways....
Legend has it that the Fiero has been there so long it actually works there and is the leading salesman.
Yeah no ones taking one for 7k
You realize you have become one of us now. Now every time you see a Fiero with it's owner you'll tell them YOUR story about how hard it was to sell and that it took a year to get it off the lot.
🤣😂perfect. I am actually doing that the whole video and didnt realize it
LMAO that's hysterical. Fiero's are pretty cool.
There not cheap anymore and only going up
10 years be 2x the value
$1800 to $5500 plus you enjoyed it for a year-- what's the problem ???? I should have your problems !
Shit, he don't like cars..."cars just makes me money"... everybody knows stories will be told with older cars. He should always do detailed videos of cars that are for the nation! Oh yeah just get a website instead of ebay!...n 7500 for a fiero, u stupid...55 35 2500 everybody knows that's it!
Imagine buying a car from this guy... he wouldn’t let u breathe
Used car sales make sick, they take you for thousands.... crooks
@Me Smith You can only betaken if YOU allow it.
TIme is money. All those phone calls took up allot of his time.
Prime example of why car guys don't generally like car salesmen. Do us all a favor and stick to buying & selling boring cars.
That's a bit mean. Watch his other videos you'll see he's not like that. Heck. You can get that from this video.
Go on any decent car forum and all the car guys have horrible stories about trying to sell their finished projects.
I would've kept it and put my business name on it and paraded around town to market my business but that's just me lol.
problem is that it is tiieing up working capital. cant love them in the biz. you have to eat pay your Bill's and live,
You’d have to actually want to drive it to have to do that. Lol
@@justinrasmuson its a fun car and you'd be surprised how many people like them. I could sell my custom blue one every time I take it out.
@@jeepguy220 can't afford a extra $3000 car, your in the wrong business.... I have 3 toy cars boosted Civic, fiero gt, c5 z06.
My garage is full and 3 vehicles in my driveway.. I would love a car lot for space.
Wow, a used car salesman complaining about how potential customers are wasting his time? Paybacks man! salesman have wasted the customer's time since the beginning of time
Unless it's a door to door salesman I'll bet your the guy that showed up asking questions to no end and had no intention of buying anything and wasting his time. Most salesman work of comish, and wasting their time costs them money not you. They offer you a service and usually try and save you money and truthfully want to make there customers and store proud. Most customers couldn't give a shit about them, and take them for granted . Just saying. Peace
You should see the asshole buyers I deal with on a daily basis and rethink your statement lol so many people love to waste my time
This guys such an ass... lol.
Anyone has a fiero and don't want it I'll. Take it
Good video man. I feel you. Looks like car buyers have pretty much the same psyche around the globe but good to hear you finally sold it for a reasonable price.
That was your best video to the date👍🏻,, well done mate. Thanks for the great tips
You driving Nissan 350z. Yes. There are no seats in the rear.
👍👍Congrats on _finally_ selling it Craig! That first video you did on the Fiero is actually how I came across your channel.🤣 You got me a little excited at 10:52 when you said _”...GIVE it away...”_ 😳🏎😳... oh well here’s to hopin’ 🤣. I’ve always admired them since I saw them as a kid. Surprisingly out of the 40+ vehicles I’ve owned thru the years, I’ve never had one... from what I’ve researched I suppose that’s a good thing.😊
Extra nice car. What you are suffering from is Public Mania! Dealing with public is always a PIA.
Jim Jardine Man you hit the nail on the head with that statement👍👍!!
Craig - I went through the exact same thing with an 86 Grand Wagoneer several years ago and I learned my lesson. Bought it for a song, put a ton of work into it, and honestly it nearly ate me alive. Finally got done with it, and when it was time for it to go, oh how the parade of fools kept me busy day and night. I wound up loosing about 3 grand on it to just get it out of my life. That was the last time I bought something like that with the intention of reselling later. I believe that these types of vehicles appeal to a certain person these days and are best bought with the intention of keeping. They will never make another Fiero, Olds Toronado, or fill in the blank with whatever else from that era that floats your boat. Enough time goes by, and one of those countless people who thumbs up, hoots and hollers, and raves about your sweet fiero when you take it out will eventually ask you what it will take to buy it from you. I think the car needs to find the person...not the other way around. It is a niche car that has to find the right person. Personally, if I had that Fiero, I would have been sad to see it go and would have been happy to own it until the right opportunity presented itself that was mutually beneficial. Glad you finally sold it though and great story.
Like your vids mate there real life n its good to see cheers my mate from UK
Amazing information man appreciate this
very good videos u have in ur channel pal .. good job!
I Had an '87 FIERO & Loved It Till Someone T-Boned Me.. Tried to Swap Engine into an '85 and Was Not Compatible without Modifications. I Have a 2012 JEEP LIBERTY; Got It Wrecked & Rebuilt It. They Are Best For In-Town Grocery Getters.. Not a Highway Vehicle as it is UnderPowered and Blows Around on a Windy Day..
Glad To See Things Worked Out For You.. Nice to see an Individual Straight Forward and Outspoken. Keep It Up!!
Great story - thanks for sharing
Hi, still a good flip. Stay positive, and keep your chin up. Theirs a buyer for everything. I love your videos. Keep wheeling 🚙💵
I didn't enjoy your misery, but I did enjoy the story and I learned something about people and their money. Money talks and BS walks.:-)
Hey mate. First time commenter but been watching alot of your content for a while. Can completely sympathise with you in this spot. Stick at it mate.
Dude that was entertaining I enjoyed it.. Keep up the good work, and continuous success in your dealership...
LMAO! I love you! You are awesome and made me laugh because I knew exactly what you were saying
Great video. I understand what you were going through! It's like back in '85 when I bought my Fiero. It was the best of times...it was the worst of times. It was a Black SE model, automatic. V6 with a sunroof...wait...did I lose you? Ok...so you started the video of the nostalgia of why you started your business, the nostalgia of what you did to this business...even showed your adorable son...yes, he IS adorable. It almost made me cry like I did watching Luke Skywalker appear on the Madolorian. And then....just like my wife that made me feel like shit for having an emotional reaction to a pop culture moment of yesteryear...your video, like Anni Skywalker, turned to the dark side and you began to berate me for wanting to connect with my past over a pop culture vehicle and made me feel bad for wanting to connect even with you. I mean, you come in to my home through the screen with all sorts of awesome videos and make me feel like I am important. Then I click like...and subscribe...just like I did with my wife...and the Fiero of yesteryear. And what have you done, sir? You have turned on me as has my wife has! ( that I also liked and subscribed to). And now, I realize, like my wife...you only want my attention for YOU, for YOUR channel, to only listen to YOU, like my wife. Jesus man...I think you could be my WIFE! I mean, almost 50,000 people have listened to THIS VIDEO and YOU...and I just listened to YOU basically tell me that you do NOT wish to listen to ME. IN closing, I jest..but there is ALWAYS a kernel of truth in jesting. Lighten up, bro. And if you do come across another Fiero GT automatic and clean like that one, let me know. I will buy it. After you show me some vids.
Problem is a dealer always charges 15% more than a private seller. As you said it's a national buyer base. And there's enough private sellers that are going to get the business rather than you.
I had a '87 silver V6 GT 5 speed stick with sunroof. The car was super fun and quick but needed lots of TLC. The headlight motors seemed to be replaced every year. Anyways, it was a GM car (which already says a lot) and needed lots of issues to be fixed. Fun but needed maintenance often.***You just stated about people talking about their Fiero..lol. Oh well, I had mine till it was totaled.***
thanks for keeping it real !
Nicely done - nice sharing with your son :)
I definitely feel you on parts of your video. This part of the market is definitely not for everyone.
Had two of them, i wish i had kept them. Were fun to drive and actually kept my mechanic skills sharp. I still miss them.
Fun and funny video!!!
HEY!!! DID I EVER TELL YOU ABOUT THE GREAT FIERO I HAD BACK IN.....oh , yeah. Sorry. I never had one. Except the one I've paid five years of storage on so far.... hahaha. Great video, man!
lmfao your are so funny thank you for making me laugh you made my day
Great video
Your Fiero has been friend boxed by everyone.
I enjoyed this video, I had forgotten how people will call just to chit chat about the car! I also have a fiero story, when they first came out I bought one new but the insurance industry had no experience repairing the plastic body panels so the cheapest insurance I could find was $2300 a year and I was 35 at the time with a clean license so needless to say I cancelled the deal!
Brilliant video. Nice job. I thought about posting a funny comment , but didn't. At least that car pulled a great video out of you.
I like what I saw and heard and others did too. So a small win, mate.
Sometimes novelty pieces bring in buyers for the more practical vehicle. They show the kids the car they had in high school and then sign up on the caravan. Sit the novelty car on the corner with a big red bow on top. Cheap advertising.
Yeah I agree. It brings people in. Craig's just too nice to tell people "Listen, I don't have time to reminisce". I know a Ford dealer who has 4 60's mustangs in the show room, not even for sale, just to get people through the door.
Dodge sold a ton of minivans just because they got people in the door to look at the Viper.
Fieros are so cool. I had one back in 1986, and it was not perfect but fun as hell and there are 1,001 sweet customizations.
The market is pretty discerning because so many have issues. The fully custom guys want the cheap body and a few keeper panels. Not hard to find. The rest want it perfect.
I’ve had my 85 gt 4 speed for about a year now. It didn’t run when I got it and it sat for 10+ years before I bought it. It runs now but the idle bounces up and down, had to put all new brakes on it and lines, egr valve, spark plugs, battery, still runs rough and the alternator is out now. Certainly the car of endless repairs right now.
austin stringfield did you ever check the vacuum lines? I had the same idle issues with my 84, traced the vacuum lines and found most of them were not split but instead were collapsed and it wasn’t allowing air to pass through...just a thought. If the check engine light is on and you get code 35 then I bet that’s what the issue is..
One of your funniest videos, sorry my laughs were at your expense. Peace, DrRick
Insane that it was that hard to sell. Looks amazing for the age. Definitely one of those iconic working mans sports cars beautiful car for the cash... peoples expectations for a car that old... unbelievable
I had a black 1984 Fiero SE. I got 110k miles out of it before it threw a rod. i loved how it handled. Perfect date night car.
Great video.
Thanks
Lol... I'm glad you sold it (finally). But that video (of you buying the Fiero), is exactly how I found your channel and you! I'm a huge fan, and when I get back home to NH (in my travels) I would love to stop in and meet and just say hello!
We are living fulltime in our converted 1985 Blue Bird School bus (a "Skoolie") traveling all over the USA, but NH will always be "home".
The Fiero was and still is a car that I wanted, but for practicality isnt a vehicle I can use due to lifestyle, and Big families. So .. I'm a (ahem) Mini Van Dad... lol
Oh well. Love the Vids Craig, and Keep em coming. Love seeing NH ,and the auction place (that's the Londonderry one, right?)
Cheers!!
Oh... I also used to sell cars in NH, btw. I was at AutoServe Tilton, then went to the "evil" Berlin City Dealership, in Berlin. Lol. So I love your sales stories, because I can so totally relate to ALL of them, and have a few myself.
I briefly had an '86 Fiero GT. Sold it for what I paid for it, so I lost nothing. As long as they are in decent shape, people will scoop'em up. I had to get a more "responsible" car for daily driving. The catching fire thing is fake news, only a few Iron Duke '84 Fieros had that problem, so don't let that scare people away. The only time I was "scared" to drive it, was cross country in the middle of winter, they are barely drive-able on ice and snow, without winter tires.
The fun i had in a Fiero the babes i met in a Fiero The nights at the drive in
in the Fiero. Do you have a Fiero for sale??? If you ever find a Fiero let me know
because i loved my Fiero. An 86 black with 53 gs milles would be so much
fun to own a Fiero again lolll, Sorry dude i was just laughing the whole time i saw
your video. But a 86 Fiero what a car to own HA HA HA !!!!!!!
Gas man Gas man I’ve got an 87 Fiero I’m currently restoring to sell. 72k miles. Runs great but some jerk painted it yellow and hit a deer in it. I love buying and selling Fieros. I’ve bought and sold 3 already.
@@1990padawan I've got an 86 with Iron Duke and 5 speed sitting in my back yard for about five years now. Body great and never been in an accident. I quit driving it because I bought an 88 GT with five speed, which is my current and ONLY driver. I've now driven a Fiero exclusively for 31 years....that is, of course, if I'm not on my motorcycle. BHE
Omg hilarious. Whoever bought it got a great deal.
i liked the purchase to sale type video
That's a really good looking fiero. Never thought I'd say that
I love watching your videos. It is really interesting to see what is popular in the USA. Here in Europe, everyone loves Volkswagen Golf, Skoda Fabia, basically small cars. I personally have Hyundai Matrix (people here say that it is a big car, go figure).
It's like a mini trans am - beautiful!
Thank you. I feel your pain. Emotion is not good when you buy a car. If you like it too much you will pay too much for it. It's good when you are selling a car. If the customer likes it too much he will pay too much for it. To you cars are a business so you shouldn't get emotionally involved with them. I love to look at videos of Fieros. I wish I'd bought one back when. Not now. I like your videos.
That red 350z seen in the background before you asked us to guess.
My 86 Fiero GT has a 3800 SC motor swap from a Grand Prix GTP with the Fiero's Getrag 5 speed transmission. It's completely restored with leather interior. It's painted Cadillac pearl white. It has a whale tail on it too.
This is not the first time you've experienced this. Not if you've been dealing for a while. That's why I pretty much just stick to plain Jane cars.
This was the funniest video of yours I’ve watched so far! Lol
Thx😁
My buddy had one. He would always try to race me in my 94 z28 6sp. Pretty hilarious
Man I laughed my ass off watching this video! Thank you
I had a small consignment business an had to deal with the exact same people. THANK GOD I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE ! ! ! I had to close up shop because of it.
Nissan 350Z, I just took one in on trade too haha. Time to find another Nugget! Haha.
I sell auto parts for a living; in other words, I try to stay happy while dealing with unhappy folks because their cars are broken down... I've done this more than anything else since I started working. I have found that the Only way to enjoy my job is not allow others' feelings to affect my feelings. Yes, they Do affect my feelings, but I work at it not making my day go South. Find a way to enjoy helping others while helping yourself... If you can't do that, it doesn't matter how good you are at flipping cars, you are in the wrong business.... Be aware, I am lecturing myself while I am lecturing you.
I "CLICKED ON " your video because it was about a FIERO and YES I had TWO of them - a GT V-6 and a 2M4 !! Loved them both at the time BUT as I got OLDER my lower-back hurt after sitting in one driving AND I could NOT SEE over cars around me at STOP-Lights because you sit so LOW in it !! Liked your video too ! :-)
I'm having the EXACT same problem with a 2000 seadoo LRV jetski
I have one just like that and I love it!
A Fiero is a niche car. Its like a Studebaker and only a Studebaker fanatic will want one. Remember, to a Hammer the whole world looks like a nail. In other words dont advertise to just any forum; stick w/the car club forums only. I dont know if you tried or not but the Fiero car clubs are who you shouldve marketed it through. With niche cars you have to hang out at their bbq hamburger hotdog get togethers. Plus, w/niche cars you are kindve stuck dealing w/ppl's feelings about the good ole days when they owned one, or had a friend that owned one. Next time you obtain a niche car (if there ever is a next time), test the Take Away technique. Prop it up on a ramp on your lot so everyone can see it w/shoe polish writing on the windshield, "Not For Sale: Display Only". Ppl always want what they cant have. When someone asks what you want for it simply respond, "Its not for sale, but I am a used car lot if your offer is right its yours but I really like it and dont wanna sell it". The fact it isnt for sale removes you from negotiations. Annnnndddd yes I do have a Fiero story; it all started back in 1987 when.......,
Love my swapped 3800 turbo fiero 😍
I have a 88GT with a LS4 ,4t65 auto and.....legal in CA.!😎
I love Fiero. Have an '88 Fiero GT with Turbo. Goes like stink.
BTW here in Vancouver some people with Fiero make good money lending their Fiero to the full industry.
no,they dont...
goes like stink lol...
The full industry ?☺
Your video was a big help to me. I think you saved me from a future anxiety attack. I have an opportunity to buy a GT that is not as nice as yours for $2k. It’s running and driving (at least for now). I was thinking of flipping it but not now. Thanks again…
Thank goodness 😅 you sold that car,1 of the hardest car to sale
OMG!! 😂🤣 This video was better than an episode of Seinfeld! Glad you finally got it sold for a little profit (I think 🤔), anyway.
Hey nice 240sx at 11.40 the white one s14
LOL, nice rant,
Lol!!! I flip MGB's and modern classics in UK and totally get this! I get exactly the same calls! Know what you are saying to re about list every single blemish, they want Concours for £5k! Feel your pain mate, especially re Ebay! I only advertise in specialist classic car sites and magazines now for the classics. Not made the move to full time selling cars yet, love your vids!
I bought a 87 GT and had to do a ton of work to it. Any 32+ year old car is going to have problems unless it was well maintained with very little use while being kept out of the weather. Yes they don't come with power steering so these cars aren't for wimps.
Love how you drive with your phone in your hand with your young son in the car. Top tier father. Plus no Seatbelt
Even on the snow was great!
For an 80's American car there is always a market but YOU have to do the work to be sen in it. Find a forum, car club something that focuses in that type of car. I focus on C4 ( 84-96) Corvettes and the only way to get a good sale is through a forum.
Here is what happens when you try to sell a car like the Fiero or Nissan 300 ZX Toyota Supra twin turbo or Acura NSX you get lots of people who want to buy it but cant afford it and the man who can afford it he goes out and buys a brand new pick up truck.
Lol right on! I have a 300zx twin turbo and fiero in mint condition that i cant seem to sell
@@Way2EasyDIY I Would love to buy your 300ZX twin turbo but I just bought a 1976 corvette and now I am having a brand new chevy crate motor 454 HO put in the car Ill have to wait on your car.
Thanks for the laugh. I was a new car, Buick-Pontiac, salesman. Back in 84-87, what happened to you, happened to me! LOL 25 demonstrations to sell one! Thanks for the memories.
I actually completely disagree with this video, I understand what you’re saying but I have had the opposite experience buying and selling Fieros. I’ve bought and sold 3 Pontiac Fieros in the past 9 months. I bought them all under $1,500 and sold them for $4,000. Every one of mine were over 100k miles and in worse condition then the one in your video. On the other hand I know where about 5 different Fieros are for sale locally and I guess those dealers are having similar experiences as you because those Fieros have been there between 3-6 YEARS... thank you for sharing your experience, I always find it interesting how differently some peoples experiences are to mine in selling cars, for example you said you excel in selling Tahoe’s, suburban’s, jeeps, etc. those are the ones I find hard to sell in my area and I easily sell the fun cars like Fieros. But I’m not a dealership either, I just buy and sell cars as a hobby. I install Windows for a living.
in which region do you live? there are too many crossovers and SUVs in my area
You mentioned Triumphs, I took a huge loss on a 1965 TR4 and a 1993 Del Sol,they are fun to look at and watch people restore but not for me anymore.
1. don't start with an unrealistic price if you want a quick sale,
2, on ebay only accept bids from people with enough goof feedback
Good job enjoyed it....Been there myself and everything you said was true.....Oh can I tell about my 87 GT ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
These old modern classics are a nightmare to sell at a retail dealership. Everyone wants a brand new classic. Cars of that vintage, no matter how well they have been looked after, always have faults. They are problematic and without selling someone a warranty, which they never want, because the car is so cheap, will come back to bite you. People like the idea of buying a car from their youth, and always want to tyre kick and tell you their story. The only way retailers make it work, is to specialise in classics, buy the very best with a huge markup, where they can afford to sit in them. Because these dealers specialise in them, they get real buyers. An average dealer having one classic, just gets time wasters that see something interesting on your lot.
I remember a friend owned one of these. We used to do road trips, it seemed he was always stopping for gas
barely a 10 gallon tank until 88...had to
Small tanks.
This video is way better than expected. This is an automatic link that I would send someone if I had an old clean sports car that I would show them this video so they understand what hell you go through. yeah I remember when I listed one of my cars and I would get so many people that just would want to talk. And most of them are like. I want your car but I'm saving up for it.. it's like don't even call me if you don't have the money.
Hold on too it ?
Why you ask , well there going too send a pontiac fiero into space in the next fast and furious film .
Price is going too go up when the movie comes out and there cool again ?
mark my words dude
@Peter Locke not only was in in fast and furious, but the new movie called “El Camino” features a gold Fiero. The movie is a Netflix original, I THINK. But it’s a spin off of the series Breaking Bad, which was VERY popular.. anyways it’s my 2 cents that this movie will also increase the interest in the Fiero and help make in an in demand classic again.
Hey guys ChrisFix here !
I don't know why ChrisFix came in my mind while I was watching this ;)
Dude!! Get to the point
He gets to the point pretty quick. He just keeps repeating it.
Got bored and left...
I drive a 1987 pontiac fiero gt and it is a party. Dont ever buy a 84 fiero, they catch on fire, but 86-88 are amazing so much fun
Bet thanks
Great video - welcome to the used car market where you have to deal with the car buying public. I don't know why you're "crying in your soup" - it's sorta like a car mechanic who repairs one problem on a car and a new one pops up out of nowhere. It's part of that game - Murphy's Law states - whatever can go wrong will go wrong. Some cars sell themselves and others just want to stay with you forever. Love your videos - I always learn something . Stay positive and stay safe.
XD this is really funny
I love fiero's my first car was a 84 4cyl fun as hell but there being blown up way over there value specially seeing everyone wants one to upgrade and put performance engines and parts in
Hey! First time car buyer here. I was looking at a Fiero but i'm not sure if its the right car for me. I would only do light driving and I wouldn't use it in the winter but I love the way it looks. Any one got any things I should know about it?
I like the idea of a Cadillac front wheel drive the entire unit stuck in the back of that fiero and it's a v8 always wondered what happened to it.
