Nathan, Can you give any advice on stopping gymnasts from piking in/out of straight SS's?......including perhaps never getting a true perfectly straight line-out.

Hello again, starting at MARK: 4:00 you can see the gymnast initiating with different positions of arms.. shoulders and head. This is very important for the gymnast to understand how to initiate. After initiating the twisting bringing in the arms closer to longitudinal axis speeds of twisting. Thanks again, Coach Wes

Great video but i'm a little confused about something. In your early examples of pike and tuck barani, around the 2:20 mark, you seem to be twisting a different way to the straight barani at around the 3:10 mark. Am i seeing things or is this an example of twisting a different direction for early or late twists? Cheers

+Phil A Hey Phil, thanks for your comment, however - I think you are mistaken. I twist to the left in all my twists regardless of the shape or whether I'm going forwards or backwards. The easiest way to tell that they are all going the same way is that in all the examples you mentioned, you see my back as I turn; if I twisted the opposite way (to the right) you would see my chest. But yes, you are right in that the timing of the twist is different in the straight barani. Make sense?

Hello, your video is very good but I have a recommendation. You don't differentiate in initiating twisting and direction of twist in the description following MARK: 3:00. I have gone through the entire series but wanted to mention this. What I mean by this is describing specific change in shape that initiates twisting around the vertical or longitudinal axis. That change contribute to direction. This is probably the most important thing the gymnast must understand. Thanks, Coach Wes
