    I hope you had a blast! Packing tricks are some of my favorite videos to watch and this was no exception. Even sighted folks can use most of these tips... if not all of them! Thanks!
    Also I have to say, I love love LOVE how you took time to destigmatize the fear of using white cane - it's useful and helpful, it doesn't signify weakness, and can be a visual cue for positive help!!

    I loved your video and it would be helpful for me if I ever have to travel independently on my own Sunday because I’ve been on an aeroplane before and I’ve been in America before so this is really really helpful and I love getting to know you

    I really enjoyed the video. I am going to be traveling on an airplane in the very near future. This will be my first time to do this, and I will be flying alone. I am trying to learn everything I can about flying alone as a legally blind traveler. I know that I can ask for assistance. I have heard both good and bad stories from many sources. I would appreciate learning your strategies for going through the airport, and making sure you are in the right place at the right time. I am concerned about changing gates and connecting flights. I could use all the information you can send my way. I want to be able to handle whatever comes up.

      No worries, Kimberly. I have been on countless airplanes. It has been my experience that most airports and airlines are well equipped to help you. They just need to know that you need the help. I prefer to check in add the airline desk first thing when I arrive at the airport. At this time I inform them that I am visually impaired and will need assistance. Once they put you in the system for needing assistance, you should be good to go. They will make sure that you have a human being to help you find your gate and to assist you with your connecting flight. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you do not have someone cited to help you get to the airline desk when you first arrive at the airport, you can use be my eyes or AIRA apps on your smart phone to give you sided assistance to find the airline desk. When you arrive at your gate, be sure to check in to let them know that you were visually impaired and will need assistance to board the plane and find your seat. They will ask you to sit in the special seating area for people with disabilities. This will put you close to the gate so you can pre-board. Do you use a white cane? The cane is always extremely helpful when traveling on public transit like airplanes, trains, or buses. It helps the airline workers to identify you and keep an eye out in case you need assistance. Some airports have special assistance programs for people with disabilities. I suggest you go online to your particular airport to see what programs are available. Good luck. You should be in good hands. I hope you enjoy the experience and let me know how it goes. No worries. You’ve got this. Safe travels.🧳✈️😁

    I am totally blind and I know you’re talking about some kind a little storage pockets or cubes where do you get those?

    • @Insight4blind
      @Insight4blind  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Sandra. Glad you asked. They are called packing cubes. You can purchase them through Amazon or any place that sells luggage. They fold up nice and flat when they are empty so they are usually hanging where there are luggage tags and other travel type accessories. If you Google packing cubes, you should find plenty of resources. Good luck. Safe travels. Thanks for watching.
