Maaaan, this brought me back to MANY nights working on my EK outside in complete darkness, lol! K20 RWD 100%. I haven't seen that done and it'd be sick!
I think the fact that Mickey wants to put a K20 in it is enough reason to go with that engine. They're a brilliant motor, that is pretty much bullet proof (from what I've seen). Making it RWD will be interesting - kinda Lotus Talbot Sunbeam like in a sense

thats what im saying! a buddy of mine actually had this exact same issue on his EK.. i figured that was it the second they said it sounded like it had bigger cams. what i didnt know is that you could fix it so easily.. we went out and got a whole new throttle body..

I’m starting to really enjoy this channel, the old school approach to the cars especially and the video vibe. I may be in my early 20’s, but I’ve been in and out of the car community with my family since I was younger. And seeing cars like the EK brings back memories.

Yes the body is in good shape
rust on a skiv? no way thats factory weight reduction and them dents are from going so fast the air dents the panels.. this one is dent free and running on only 2 cylinders that means the car was too fast the owner had to add weight by patching the rust and its dent free because the owner was clearly sandbagging all along only running on 2 out 4 cylinders.. prob was only racing mustangs so he didnt need to be fast.. its pretty much why you see hondas running worse then new.. i mean we gotta keep it fair for the v8 owners, its no fun when your always winning..

Wondered about the idle air control valve......mine was clogged on my Celica so it would stall out in colder weather and run rough until it warmed up
I remember when i had my honda it had a b16 swap i used to beat on it like crazy even on nitrous it was bulletproof lol
I heard the best way to clean your injectors like this is to also reverse flow them to help dislodge any residue

You will see at least 10 of those Civics a day driving in Cape Town, South Africa if you are in the suburbs. 9 out of 10 are rust free and well looked after. Cheap pocket rocket😍

PLEASE please please do a TRUE kanjozoku build. the history and heritage behind that scene is so dope and rich that I think its makes for super dope builds. And you would be one of the few in the US to do this correctly (which I know youll do)

For the codes, there’s a green two wire plug behind the passenger kick panel, jump it with a wire or paper clip and the engine light will flash and give you the codes. Long flash counts as 10 and short flashes count as one, for example, one long flash and five short flashes would be code 15 and so forth

I got a EK 1 for 500 bucks here in Australia. It's registered til February. Just needs cosmetic work done. I'll probably strip the car down and clean and replace what needs doing. Might turbo it too

If you would have used a stethoscope or a flat head to listen if the fuel injectors are ticking when the car is running they are good and if not then you know the problem then check for impedance on the injectors. No need to swap them, that’s too much work. Check for ticking by listening when the car is on. The throttle body is getting too much air, turn down screw on the throttle body less air, hence the plugs are rich/black, check for fuel pressure aswell and check fuel pump. There’s also a vacuum that is plugged on the throttle body

I think that hole in the RAI is supposed to be for the air temp sensor on a newer Civic. And ugh, Honda decided the fuel filter for the 2005 Civic EX shouldn't be a real filter, but a sock filter, in the gas tank, under the back seat.
Why not do both? Or even better an Awd + Turbo ? Just saying.......🤔🤓

so the dx model of the ek for the harness you would have to switch the harness to dual point to multi point maybe he didn’t correctly pin the harness together? that’s why only to injectors might be shooting fuel ?
AWESOME CONTENT, Can't wait to follow this project! :D Man I feel the pain! I've had a few 80s VWs and they have small vacuum-cans all around the engine for different functions (ignition, fuel etc.) ... they tend to get stuck or just stop working, it's always a fun problem to troubleshoot :P
Although I'm normally against k series..I have to say an rwd na ej hatch would be pretty sweet!

You guys should just spray the interior floor pan with spray-on bedliner, toss in aluminum dash and door cards. It's a good, cheap way to make it look nice without adding much weight, and still get rid of /a lot/ of noise. And try to find a K20A (11.7:1) from the Type R and put a turbo on it!

You guys should contact Humble Performance. They’re Honda specialists here in Tulsa, Oklahoma and they have some insane projects going down. I’m not saying have them build the car for you, but they do have a couple AWD converted civics pushing good numbers. Maybe you guys could toss some ideas around! Kenny McKee is one of the guys behind Humble and I believe he has a CZcams channel as well
