  • A special day with just 300 guests to preview the release of the DVD called "For One Night Only" featuring Slades Jim Lea performing his one & only solo gig 16 years previous. Then followed a Q&A session for an hour. To top it off and a complete surprise, Jim goes backstage and gets his guitar and treats the crowd to a few rockin' songs. This all took place at the same venue of the original gig, the Robin 2 in Bilston, UK. Lots of love and memories in the room on this special day.
    Thank you Jim.

With Slade we had Noddy's voice & Don's drums, Dave's outfits but the most talented of the band was undoubtedly Jim Lea.

Yes, he’s sounding pretty good and proves he can really make that guitar sing. The Holder / Lea song writing partnership was on par I think with Lennon / McCartney which made them the biggest UK selling band of the 70’s and also made their presence felt during their resurgence in popularity in the early 1980’s after blowing away the competition on the stage of the 1980 Reading Festival. They were best ‘live’ and always made sure their audience left the gig having had a bloody good time.

That I live in Wolves, grew up in Bilston, MET Jim in his own house when I went out with his neice, it utterly, utterly disgusts me that I never really "got" Slade until I was well into my 30s. I do now.

After the original members of Slade went their separate ways, (1991), Dave did call a meeting with Don, Jim, Nod & himself, where Dave suggested getting back together. Don & Jim were all for it, BUT Dave insulted Nod, who would then have nothing to do with it. Jim said if Nod was out, then he wasn't interested.

You forget just what a great body of work Slade produced. I thought they should be playing the xmas tours that Gary Glitter used to do before he was disgraced.

Glitter was playing two nights at the Nec and other big venues before he blew it and that was what I meant not a small circuit. I agree that they deserve to be massive I love their stuff.
