    given that wolves are dogs ancestors, what if instead of putting dogs right into the game as naturally spawning mobs, they could make it so that every time you breed two domesticated wolves theresa chance of a dog pup being created instead of a wolf. following that, breeding a wolf and a dog gives you a MUCH higehr chance at getting another dog, etc. complicated beering mechanics are already in the game with the panda, why not recreate it for the legitimately complicated system that was/is the creation of dog breeds out of wolves!

      I was thinking of that, too. Extra lore, and hints to otherwise hidden/obscure mechanics is always nice, but I'm not sure how possible that would be when it comes to different languages. It would be cool to find books in different languages, though translating all of those books sounds like a nightmare for the devs. I think that these books would probably have to be more common that 3%, though, seeing as how there'd be a good chance that you couldn't read them.

I'm also not sure of the last one (The Nether Trader Villager), but it would be cool to have some mob that's friendly enough to trade with you in the Nether, one that doesn't kill you when you don't wear gold armor.

  • @DipPip
    @DipPip Před rokem +12

    The saw seems like the perfect block for a lumberjack villager. They could buy and sell different types of wood, and, at their highest level, a rarer type of sapling or leaves of unique colors that you otherwise can't find. Autumn colored leaves and leaf carpets would be really cool for ascetics. Also, if hollowed logs or tree funguses do end up in the game, they could sell them, too (though you shouldn't have to rely on a villager for a renewable supply of them).
    Also, when pots make it into the game, the mason villager could sell a unique pot shard. Otherwise, a whole new archeologist villager could sell some. However, there should be shards that villagers can't sell, too, so that you must find them. Maybe some shards could depict different villager occupations, especially if you want secret professions (as there should be some type of in-game hint).
    Also also, I'm surprised you didn't mention fireflies during the butterfly idea. If butterflies were to make it in the game, they'd need some kind of use, though. Maybe caterpillars could be used as bait when fishing for better luck or quicker catches. At the very least, the cocoons would be an interesting decoration block, especially if the remains of the cocoon stay around, to show that a place has been active for a while (like, instead of breeding them, they live naturally in flowered areas, and would be born and die without player interaction. It could demonstrate the age of an area in a similar way to copper oxidization. If this were to be the case, I think that silk touch and shears shouldn't be able to pick them up, so they can encourage players not to destroy ecosystems).

      Lumberjack villagers who could sell logs and saplings for hard to find wood types would be fantastic! Travel 2000 blocks to a dark forest or buy saplings from a plains village lumberjack and start your own tree farm!

  • @matthewlofton8465
    @matthewlofton8465 Před rokem +9

    We have mounts in the overworld, we have a mount in the Nether. I think the End should have a mount as well. Given the Elytra is present in the End, perhaps this mount should be extra slow or extra delicate (flying jellyfish or something similar, perhaps?) and maybe tamed/attracted/bred with chorus flowers. Just for giggles, perhaps it would drop meatballs (flying spaghetti monster references) that could be used to stick multiple mobs together in a coherent platform. I think it'd be more useful to be able to attach one (or however many you have) to a chest boat and have them pull you along in a flying cart.
    For villagers, we have a lot of potential just in the realm of parity. Obviously the pillager outposts are the equivalent to villages, but other than penning up some pandas and allays there's almost nothing going on there. What if Pillagers were literally just villagers but aligned in such a way that they aggro on players when they're friendly with villagers and vice versa? Maybe the Pillagers would have a whole different set of professions and workstations and maybe even different food sources and outpost jigsaw pieces, but the same elements would exist--farms to grow food, houses to reside in, workshops to get stuff done, etc. There are pillager patrols that are kinda sorta wandering trader equivalents, but I really think things could be fleshed out more. For example, it seems kinda lopsided to me that the wandering-trader portion of the illager community is a band of 3-5 pillagers but the wandering-trader portion of the villager community is just a guy with two llamas. Maybe the illagers have scouts or some sort of badass (a kind of miniboss like the piglin brutes?) who does whatever he wants instead of adhering to the team concept. Meanwhile, you might encounter a band of settlers looking for a home or maybe pilgrims making a trip to a faraway holy site (either way, villagers showed up at your doorstep instead of you having to go raid a village or round up a few not-so-dead bodies). The village has the nitwit, perhaps the pillagers have the turncoat that does nitwit-like stuff (or perhaps paying it an emerald or something it acts as a spawn dampener for a while, almost like a mobile anti-pillager beacon).
    NO! NO, NO, NO, HELL NO! Texture-exclusivity should not be a thing, in my opinion, especially for blocks that are clearly inferenced to be mechanically derived (ie, chopping up wood into planks and arranging said planks into specific patterns). We have enough wood types and enough recipe space to make enough special textures as there are wood types, but there's no need to limit each one to a different material. Parquet, mosaic, slatted, whatever we can come up with should be available to every wood type.

    As well as adding the new bookshelves to Strongholds, it'd be a good addition to the library rooms in Woodland Mansions! just to fill out the proposed idea - that way they are still rare but indicate that it's something we can make, and just adds more to the exploration experience of the the structures as we search for them, as well as adding to the lore!
    For the "Saw" utility block and the idea of a new profession with it (maybe "Lumberjack?") we could also sell excess tree saplings that we collect, giving us a reason to hang about and collect more, rather than just the necessary number to replant the trees - we could then maybe sell stacks of leaves to them as well so it gives us a reason to silk touch a hoe and collect them rather than just watching them disintegrate! THAT and having a Beekeeper profession would be amazing, but I'd also love to finally see a purpose for the Fletching table! Maybe it is how we combine arrows and potions to make the special arrows we can normally only buy from Fletchers? that way we can still have all the different Fletchers we want in a trade hall for the different arrows, or we can do the whole process of making the potions then adding them to the arrows for ourselves! Because villager jobs should only really make our lives easier, not be the sole source of certain items (ignoring mending books, because they're special)
    For the proposed nether mob it would be op, BUT if you make it really slow, like the Strider is on land, when it's travelling horizontally across flat land, then it wouldn't just be used everywhere, only to go up and down really steep areas, and if it is like the spider and can't traverse overhangs, then it'd be good but not perfect, and therefore actually perfect, y'know? It could be called the "Climber" which fits into the simplistic naming of some nether mobs, such as the Strider, which strides, and the Blaze, which sets things ablaze...
    I know you were joking with the Lost Cabin structure and the "Wither Storm" BUT instead of adding more life to the Badlands biome, maybe we could use this concept to add to the lore as well as explain already existing features - The Badlands is a ominous name for something that is just pretty empty - now that we have The Deep Dark which is deep and dark we can find a new(ish) structure with the Ancient Cities that also explain redstone mechanics in-game for the first time (if we ignore jungle temples, which i do whenever i see one) SO we could add to the idea of abandoned nether portals, by having an abandoned building like you demonstrated, but instead make it out of Red Sandstone(and complimenting blocks, potentially acacia if we wanted hella orange vibes, which also fits with the warmer biome idea?) to fit the surrounding aesthetic and have a T of soul sand in the middle of the inside with the Chiselled block WHICH SHOWS A WITHER, and right next to that maybe have a broken nether portal? or maybe an indication that we need to find a ruined nether portal so that we should enter it to find wither skeleton skulls??? OR a chest like the ones next to ruined portals, with some obsidian inside and a flint and steel which kinda hints to making a portal?????? that way we finally get an indication of how to make/summon the wither in-game, and it also explains the name of the biome - because an ancient civilisation could have been experimenting, summoned a wither which killed all the surrounding area (hence all the dead trees and 0 passive mobs) and then the area and buildings are abandoned because of how dangerous it was and that's how it got its name, The Badlands due to how "bad" it was to live there! (this is my fav idea, i hope you like) AND ANOTHER THING! because Badlands have higher levels of gold ore distribution, it's actually the perfect idea of showing a civilisation once living there that wanted to enter the Nether, because they lived in places that had the most gold so as to trade with Piglins, but then in the Nether stumbled across a Fortress and therefore Wither Skeletons - maybe it was the villagers once long ago because it also explains how they have brewing stands today, but not many? because they lost the knowledge of how to enter the Nether (OR portals were destroyed or abandoned so future generations wouldn't accidentally spawn Withers and create more Badlands) AND THEREFORE can't make anymore brewing stands or make potions for themselves - the fact that brewing stands tend to also appear more in Savannah Villagers also supports this idea because it combines the earlier concept of warmer biomes being close to one another - IF THIS MAKES ANY SENSE ID LOVE TO TALK ABOUT IT MORE! would love to see you do a video on this, and maybe fight for it to be added to the game
    In terms of adding "ambient mobs", I'd really like to see phantoms added to The End! I know that sounds mad because they'd be so dangerous when trying to bridge in between end islands, but it'd explain Elytras nicely AND add to the theory about The End somehow being connected to sleep/dreams/nightmares - because when we leave The End we end up either back at Spawn where we were essentially born into a world, or by our beds, like we just woke up... AND Phantoms only appear when we are exhausted/tired because we haven't slept for 3 nights in a row, so our mental barrier between the Overworld dimension and the dreamlike dimension of The End, so Phantoms can break through at that point - In this concept Endermen can hop between all dimensions at will, in the Overworld, Nether, and End because they survive on Chorus fruit and have evolved to have that ability inbuilt to their bodies - AND so to nerf the danger of Phantoms, it'd be cool to have Shulkers attack phantoms as well, like how Axolotls attack other aquatic mobs, so we have more mob-mob interactions AND it implies that someone attacked phantoms to make Elytras and that Phantoms are somehow opponents of whoever built the End Cities(?) AND we don't have to fight of phantoms as well in this crazy scenario when raiding End Cities, as the Shulkers would fight them off for us

    I agree with the different wood types and mosaics idea. And yeh obviously who doesn’t want more wood variants but I don’t like using things like crimson, warped or mangrove planks even bamboo is a bit much imo. I just wish they did slightly more plain colours again that aren’t so vivid and situational for builds. Like it would just be nice for azalea to get its own forest variant with different sizes of trees too. And also the wood should be like a whiteish log and I know some people proposed a pinkish colour similar to the leaves or red but those are colours that I just find wouldn’t be universally useful as having white wood in Minecraft. I also really loved the Wilder Wild mod and the different wood types in that, especially Cyprus wood.

    I really like what you said at 10:26 about the top of the hanging sign being its own item you can craft. That way, you could hang other things from it and the hanging sign wouldn't even need to be its own item. Things you could hang from it could be:
    signs obviously, you would take a normal sign, simply tap the pole, and they would look just the same as the current hanging sign;
    lanterns, maybe two on each one because there's a lot of space and two rings on the pole's texture anyway;
    banners would look so cool hanging from those, I know you can already hang banners on pretty much anything in the game, like the fence works for that, but it cant attach flush to the fence so it always looks awkward floating there? this way, you would tap a banner to the pole and it would sit flush and naturally against it, no floating :D;
    and my favorite idea is hanging flower pots! tap a flower pot to the pole and it would be a bit bigger than the normal flower pot so you could put the bigger flowers like roses, peonies, and lilacs in there because they cant go in the current small flower pots :( And imagine how good the azalea sapling would look in one! like a big flowering bush! perhaps, overtime, the bush/sapling you put in it would start to overgrow and hang down sort of like the current vine. you could even speed this up with bone meal! this would be great storytelling to make places look old and overgrown!
    maybe item frames and paintings could even hang from these? and this might be a bit too ambitious, but maybe you could even hang armour stands from them to make hanging armour stands lmao I think that would look cool and a bit spooky.
    I like this idea because it expands on existing items, adding a bit of flare, while also introducing some new items! all these would make for some amazing base customization/expression and cool story telling! if anyone else has other ideas about what to hang from them feel free to say because those were the only things I could think of on my own haha

    Lumberjack villager . By giving it the "wood cutter" you showed in the video , it will sell you different wood types . Let's say you don't have Mangrove wood but want it. Level up the villager and it will trade you Mangrove wood .
    Each lumberjack only sells you 5 types of wood. So you need multiple lumberjacks if you want easy access to all wood types. It will only sell you the wood , not the planks , you will need to craft them yourself .
    1 emerald = 4 blocks of *random* wood type
    Each type you level up , you will unlock a new wood type .
    For example :
    Level Zero (new villager) unlocks oak logs
    Level 1 unlocks dark oak logs
    Level 2 unlocks birch logs
    Level 3 unlocks spruce logs
    Level 4 unlocks wrapped logs
    Level 5 unlocks mangrove logs

    Loved the video @wattles! Can't wait for the next video man! I like the Idea of Updating the Mesa/Badlands Biome and the Mineshafts in Minecraft as well as the Villager Jobs. Showing some more love to the Granite, Andesite and the So-Called "Ugly Block" Diorite would be nice as well! However, I think there might be one thing that can definitely work for Minecraft 1.20 and that is to include New Versions of the Pillagers and New Structures! I present to you all....... The Bandits and the Pirates! So the Pirates are basically Pillagers but you're more likely to come across them in Ocean Biomes, while the Bandits are Also like Pillagers but you're more likely to come across them in the Mesa/Badlands Biome! And the Iceoleger will be part of the idea as well, more on that later!
    The Pirates will come in a Few Forms, There's the Pirate itself with a Cutlass, The Musketeer with a Flintlock Musket and a Sword, The Cannoneer which will throw little Cannon Balls at you, The Pirate Captain with a Cutlass and a Flintlock Pistol who's probably going to be a Cross between the Pillager Captain and the Piglin Brute as far as being a Mini-Boss Mob, and then the Pirate Wench who's a bit like the Witch when it comes to Potion throwing.
    Similarly, the Bandits in the Mesa/Badlands Biomes will have a few Forms as well, the Bandit itself with a Revolver Pistol, The Rifleman with a Lever-action Rifle, the Wrangler which Rides a Horse and will use a Lasso to drag you around causing Damage similar to a Berry Bush, the Bandit Leader with a Revolver Pistol and Higher rate of fire than the Bandit, and The Bandit Moll who Throws Potions but can Also Shoot Rifles and Revolvers.
    The Iceoleger will spawn in a Village Raid if the Village where the Raid is Triggered is in a Taiga or More Likely a Snowy Taiga Biome. Depending on the Level of the "Bad Omen" Effect, the Player will have a 5 percent chance of the Iceoleger spawning in the 3rd wave of the Raid, Increasing as the Level of "Bad Omen" Increases meaning at level 4 you'll have a 20 percent chance of Dealing with the Iceoleger starting in the 3rd wave of a Raid.
    The Pirates will have plenty of Structures as they are the "Naval Arm" of the Pillagers, Having a vast Assortment of Ships at their Disposal as well as a Few Coastal Areas. These ships are:
    • Carrack
    • Carravel
    • Galleon
    • Brigantine/Brig
    • Barquentine/Barque (aka Bark)
    • Schooner
    • Clipper
    • Frigate
    • Heavy Frigate
    • Super-Heavy Frigate
    And the Pirates will also have a Pirate Fortress which is Similar to a Woodland Mansion but mostly Open with Taverns and Shacks to duck behind for a quick bit of cover. However, the Pirate Fortresses act a Bit like the Pillager Outpost in which you will basically get a Village Raid as soon as you come into a Village, and when they Raid, they come in from the Sea. Yes, The Pirate's specialty is to Make Amphibious Assaults when a Village Raid has been Triggered, though only if the Village is within 3 Chunks of a Coast, Shore or Ocean Biome.
    The Bandits will have a few Structures as they are the "Rough Riders" of the Pillager Family. The Structures are:
    • Bandit Camp which will usually have some Tents with Beds and Chests for some Interesting loot.
    • Bandit Fort which is Like the Pirate Fortresses for the Bandits, it's basically Similar to the Woodland Mansion but mostly Open with Saloons, Stables, Barracks and even an Armory to duck into for some Cover.
    When the Bandits Raid, you'll know by the Sound of Dynamite being *THROWN* at you. That's right, the Bandits throw Dynamite at the Players in a Village Raid. Which is one of the Crafting Recipes. Just place 3 Blocks of TNT across the Bottom of a Crafting Table like you would for Slabs and you have Throwable Dynamite.
    Below are a Few Other Crafting Recipes for the Pirates and the Bandits:
    • Flintlock Pistol: 2 Iron Ingots and a Flint and Steel across the Top and 2 Sticks in the Middle and Center Right of a Crafting Table.
    • Flintlock Musket: Flintlock Pistol in the Center of the Crafting table, with an Iron Ingot to the Left and a Wood Stair to the Right.
    • Musket Ball: 2 Iron Nuggets and 2 Netherite Scrap in a 2 by 2 Shape in opposite corners like when Crafting Corse Dirt
    • Cannon: 2 Cannon Barrels and a Cannon Fuse across the Top, 2 Wood Slabs with a Wood Stair between them (4 and 2 in total, respectively) across the Middle and 2 Wheels in each of the Lower Corners. Each Cannon Barrel is made with 1 Netherite Ingot in each Corner and 1 Iron Ingot between them, the Cannon Fuse is Made with 1 Torch in the Corner, a piece of String in the Center, and 2 Netherite Ingots on the Diagonal, and Each Wheel has a Wood Button in the Center with a Wood Slab in each Corner and a Stick between them.
    • Cannon Ball: 2 by 2 Shape with Netherite Ingots and 1 Torch with 2 Strings in the Upper right 3 Spaces in a Crafting Table.
    • Treasure Chest: 5 Wood Slabs in a Shape like a Minecart, a Chest in the Center with 3 Wood Trapdoors across the top of a Crafting Table.
    • Revolver: 1 Netherite Ingot, 1 Cylinder and a Tripwire Hook across the top, with 2 Sticks in the Center and Center Right of the Crafting Table. The Cylinder can be Crafted by putting 6 Bullets in the Center of the Crafting Table and placing a Netherite Ingot around it in a Diamond shape.
    • Lever-action Rifle: 2 Netherite Ingots in the Upper Left Corner, 1 Chamber/Reciever in the Center and a Tripwire Hook across the top, 1 Wood Slab, 1 Lever and a Wood Stair across the Center and a Magazine in the Center of the Bottom of a Crafting Table. The Magazine can be Crafted by putting 3 Netherite Ingots down each side of the Crafting Table and placing a Tripwire Hook on the Center of the Bottom.
    • Bullet: 1 Shell Casing, with 1 Piece of Gunpowder and Lead Nugget in a Column on a Crafting Table. Shell Casing can be Crafted by putting 7 Gold Nuggets in a Crafting Table like a Composter, and the Lead Nugget can be made by putting a piece of Gunpowder in a Blast Furnace fueled by a Lava Bucket which brings a Lead Ingot, which can be broken down into 9 Lead Nuggets.
    • Blued Steel: can be Crafted by putting a piece of Blue Dye in a Crafting Table with a Steel Ingot. You can Get Steel Ingots by Putting Iron Ingots through a Blast Furnace fueled by a Lava Bucket. Can be used as an Alternative for Netherite in the Revolver and Lever-action Rifle-related Crafting Recipes while Also increasing Item Durability and Ease of "Maintenance".
    Chamber/Reciever: 2 Netherite Ingots across the top with the Upper Right corner empty, 1 Iron Trapdoor between 2 Netherite Ingots across the Center, and 2 Netherite Ingots across the bottom leaving the Center space Empty.
    Now the Flintlocks and Rifles are not to be taken lightly as each Shot deals about 3 or 4 Hearts worth of Damage and will leave you with the Harming Potion Effect depending on where you get shot. If you get shot in the Legs, that'll deal 5 Hearts of Damage and Harming, whereas a Classic "Head Shot" will deal up to 5½ Hearts of Damage and Harming II. This will also affect Mobs the Same way, making it all the more Easier to deal with the Classic Village Raid but still a Challenge for a Pirate Raid or a Bandit Raid.
    The Mineshafts could be made 5 by 5 and have Ventilation Shafts that are 3 by 3 so that you can have plenty of Space for your Friends to come down with you. New Villager Jobs would be nice as well. The Beekeeper for the Bee Hive Block, a Lumberjack/Carpenter with a Woodcutter, and a *Netherologist* for the Lodestone Block. That way, you can get all the Bee, Wood and Nether Related Items that you want, while they have them in Stock that is.
    Hope you like the Idea man! Sorry if this pretty much killed your eyes man, I spent about 5 hours typing this up when most times I usually spend about 2 hours. These are just some of my ideas for 1.20 Minecraft!

    Heres an idea:
    The Tark block. Recipe: 2 gravel 2 iron ingots in a diagonal grid in the crafting table i guess. Its flammable, when it touches fire, it turns into Hot Tark. And when it gets touched by fire, fire particles get spread out in all directions and dissipate within 10 blocks. Anything the embers touch gets set on fire, and any entity that touches the Hot Tark gets set on fire. You can smelt it and get reinforced Tark which can be used for armor, tools, buttons, and pressure plates. Normal Tark can have varieties like tark bricks, and stair, slab, and wall forms. When it touches Fire, it has the somewhat appearance of Magma, but grey rather than maroon. When it touches water (water bottle, rain, snow or even ice) it will cool back to normal Tark. It cannot spawn naturally except for structures. The tark tools are faster than Iron and do more damage (+1 heart) but have less durability.
    As for appearance, look at a combination of the raw iron block and gravel.
    recipe would be like this:
    🔩 = Iron ingot
    🪨 = Gravel
    🪨🔩
    🔩🪨
