I have been working on BMW vehicles for awhile now. When these two codes set, most likely there is a vacuum leak. You need a smoke machine to find the leak (cracked hoses, bad eccentric servo motor or sensor seals, valve cover gasket leak), PCV, front and rear main seals, etc...
I own a 2015 BMW 428i , check engine light turned on and I check under the car for any leaks and there and behold is a puddle of water , wiped it with a white paper towel to see if it was colored and it was pretty much clear with a tint of yellow from the dirty asphalt have a appointment for it on Tuesday , don’t know what to expect code says it’s running lean and I have to drive it to work and back meanwhile should I be worried and how pricey do you think it will be , I would appreciate it
@@adanvargas4799 take the car to have the code read. The light turns on mostly related to emissions and you can drive it normally. Cost is depending what causes the issue. Could be a loose hose (cheap) or catalyst converter (expensive).
My e90 is making a loud shinning noise with error code 171. When I release the oil cap, there's lot of suction and resistance to release it and once the cap comes off, the sound disappears. As soon as I put the oil cap back on, the loud noise comes back. What could this be? The code from Autozone says it's the MAF but I changed that 6 months ago and it wasn't needed so I returned it. I also have ISTA but I'm not sure how to use it for this.

I have this issue, I recently had a guy change my valve cover and got the code 29E1 mixture control 2. The guy claims he forgot to reconnect a hose behind the valve cover but I checked and it’s connected, I asked him to come back but he won’t be available till the weekend smh. If it’s bank 2 could it be the mass flow sensor? I was going to clean it tomorrow hoping that’s it

I have these codes on my 04 330i that would not clear after I reset the cel..i could not figure out why..i took off my maf and cleaned it and put it back on and the codes cleared..few days later they came back so I did the same thing and now they are back again...u think i should probably replace the maf?
Hey i have 2010 740LI twin turbo engine N54 Milege is 167,00 KM I cleared the codes mixture to lean As soon as i start my car it comes back again and rough idle for 20-25 seconds I dont know what is the exact problem My spark plugs was replaced around 60,000 KM before Can u help me with this please Thanks.

It turns out I had a vacuum leak it's been 2days without an cel light I've read a lot of forms and I searched for them and I finally found them

We also had our starter chain so the manifold gaskets were changed also
My n54 is showing the p0174 and cylinder misfires for cyclinders 4,5,6. Should I follow the same process?

It also feels like it has a little mess you have to really pay attention could it be a coil and if it is a coil shouldn't have a code number

Isreal Perez id check all the hoses, intake elbow boot being ripped and your filter should be good if its newish

Have you fixed it? I have a bank 2 running lean issue right now aswell
He also said he checked the MaS sensor and supposedly that was okay.

What if you have k&n in box air filter? The filter is know to allow more air into the engine for better performance.
Kn filter would be fine. The maf sensor will calculate how much air is getting sucked in
A bad fuel pump set these codes off for me. I changed fuel pump and the codes were gone. I spent hours looking for a vacuum leak.
i had a bad vacuum line to the fuel filter that caused the lean codes and service engine soon light to stay lit.
