- Birmingham hosted Europe's largest event to signal the end of Ramadan earlier with more than an estimated 140,000 worshippers attending prayers at Small Heath park earlier. It was the biggest gathering yet for organisers Celebrate Eid, in its seventh year, with 106,000 Muslims attending the event last year. Muslims around the world, including Bangladesh (left) and Iran (right) gathered to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the three-day festival marking the end of Ramadan.

Similar numbers of Catholic Christians sometimes gather in St. Peter's square in Vatican City to hear the Pope speak without a single person being harmed or any terrorist acts occurring. Does that mean Catholicism is the best religion of God? Likewise, the last time that the Hindu festival of Kumbh Mela was held, 120 million Hindu pilgrims peacefully congregated at their sacred river, the Ganges, without terrorist incidents.
I agree that most Muslims are peaceful and reject terrorism. The same applies to the overwhelming majority of the followers of the other world religions. You should only convert to some religion if you believe its teachings are 100% true, not because you've watched a video of its followers peacefully practicing it.

What's respectful about showing a man but not a woman?
It's for a couple of reasons. The men are up the front and women up the back with small children. It is out of respect, you are correct. On this day we wear our best clothes and are quite attractive. There would be men there wishing to marry, and having women up the front or amongst them bending over etc is a big distraction, when this is a very important prayer. If your child is disruptive then you quietly remove him or her, being up the front would be difficult. This one prayer early in the morning is to God to accept all of your good deeds, prayers, reading and reciting the Quran, giving money to charities and fasting for 30 days straight. So you want to be there and do it right. It lasts not 5 minutes then there is a half hour Sherman, they we all sit and picnic, play tug of war with the kids, buy icecream, have kids rides, face painting, balloons etc. It's a nice day wherever you are in the world. Some places also have fireworks and can celebrate by visiting friends and family, eating traditional food, for up to 2 weeks afterwards. It only happens once a year and we believe every good deed is counted in heaven and we receive 10 times the rewards (instead of double on a normal day) from God if we get to go to heaven in the end. So many really look forward to doing their best in this special month, and we hope many continue to do good for others afterwards. We believe we are put here to love and care about others. So if you are fortunate to have lots of money, the God gave you a great job and great opportunities, that you share it with the poor. For His sake.
