It's how bebek are taught to surf these days.
No manners, respect, all about "me".
Then say what's the problem?
That's when a smack brings them into the moment.
Greatest sport when uncrowded, dummiest sport when crowded….
Greatest summary of surfing in 2024
Perfect. Its a mess out there these days. So happy I got to enjoy the uncrowded days of the 70's thru 90's. Bring back localism!
Such a spiritual experience too.
It doesn’t have to be that way if people would just follow the basic rules of surfing. It’s partly parents faults too because most of the groms are now sitting at the peak and going for every wave cuz their parents tell them too. When I was a grom I was lucky to even get the inside scraps.
I’d rather be on shore tanning than sitting in that lineup
Most surf videos get me stoked. This one got me depressed. Crowds totally kill spots. Glad I got 50 years of surf behind me.
thank you for appreciate
lucky you ... travel and then have to face this ? no thanks,
Dear uluwatu locals: kooks dont know the rules. teach them the hard way, or stop complaining! please we need more of this.
this is why i quit surfing and moved to the mountains. i cant imagine travelling all that way and spending all that money to end up surfing in that kook pit
no lie. what a rats den. TWOT
There are bucket loads of places to surf without crowds. You just need to actually use your brain, look at a map and explore a little. If you expect to go to the most famous surf destinations in the world and get uncrowded waves then you get what you deserve. 🤣
There's loads of places to surf if you don't mind a drive :)
Dont mové dropper😢s tto the mountains
The kook pit.....🤣🤣🤣!
Ahaaa a couple of Snapper locals out Ulus this morning ay!!
ohh. do you know him?
surfing has seen its day. now its generally insane
That’s not true for everywhere. The earth’s a big place. If you go to tourist destinations like Bali and Snapper of course you’ll battle kooks, but this does not reflect surfing by and large
That chick had em all. Place is thrashed
All those a$$holes and the girl shredded!
That’s exactly why I go for the unbeaten paths in southern Mexico
such a nice calm holiday
My wave Brah!
oh... no
Kooksville
Been surfing for 29 years and it amazes me that people travel to Indo without knowing how to surf🤔
Uncle was pissed!
surfing is dead and this vid proves it.
Yep that’s about how I remember my expensive ass experience.
Snow ball central.
Perfect peeling waves getting broken up by shoulder hoppers.
ohhh. so sick.
ulus was expensive? Mate Bali is as cheap as a world class surf trip gets.
My bad mate. The flight from US was expensive. Shoulda been more specific.
@@ehmkebrandsurfboards fair enough, it’s $600 from Australia. I thought you’d just go to Mexico?
nice
All these new Russians surfers ready to make Uluwatu the new Malibu
Ozzies are the worst in bali
@@paulc9848 seen them bad in Australia too
Lol to be fair there the worst in the water in any place I ever surfed
russian surfers? that almost makes less sense than texas surfers.... their pacific coast has no large urban areas, and is actually quite protected
Those aren't Russians.
Bali has turned into an absolute clown-car shitshow.
Not if you like smelly Yoga piehole and entitled ozzy assholes and brazo's.
Ulus is the worst, but there's still other places that are ok.
It’s why Bali is dead to me. So many other places on earth without kook influencers thinking they’re surfers
Heavily influenced by wave size. Magically no one is out at 6ft plus Hawaiian
@@user-iu8gy2fk3e I surfed it at 6 foot (Hawaiian is the same as Australian) and it was packed.
Kooks everywhere. God I love where I live.
Uluwatu should make new rules.
1. Everybody pays $2.00 to get in the cave.
2. Surfers who drop in have to get out of the water the rest of the day and can come back tomorrow.
3. No fighting. If you fight you have to pay $100.00 and no surfing for 1 week.
4. Limit the amount of surfers aloud out to surf to 50 people and everyone gets a number.
5. Employ water patrol and 10 Beach lifeguards to police the water.
Last summer Bali was a mess..people burned each other every session.
That's a good idea. thank you.
Also the $2.00 per person just to get in the cave shouldn't be for locals.
The $2.00 just to get in the cave should go to the new lifeguards and a trash pick up program. Im very dissapointed in how very dirty Uluwatu is and glass on the sand.
Also the Scooters should all have to pay $2.00 to park + the $1.00 to enter Uluwatu area.
To many surfers with zero respect have taken over.
I couldn't even get 1 wave when people were out that someone dropped in on me.
Write to Uluwatu Board Riders and the government to make these changes..
Is the dump still on fire in Bali or did they finally get it out?
I will not be spending time at Uluwatu any more unfortunately.
good cause, but absolutely zero chance of happening unfortunately
How about we just talk to people respectfully and stop being so entitled? An annoyance of mine is meeting advanced surfers acting like they were born with great surf etiquette. Everyone was a kook once. If you act so entitled you're the problem. Uluwatu is the center of surfing in the world. Whether we like it or not it's going to have its ups and downs.
Aloha means we can help each other out. I've never had any problems after a good smile and pointing out the problems when someone drops in or even snakes me. The surf instantly gets better as people become more aware and friendly. We create the atmosphere ourselves. As an advanced surfer you should act like it. It's ok to make friends and teach people. Please let's not make things worse with some beuqacratic classist entitlements that breeds corruption and viscosity. Let's make a community based on smiles not frowns.
On a different note, I like that song 'Surfing on Reef' you had in one of your videos. Is that yours? I couldn't find it on youtube. I'd love a full version. Thanks in advance if you have a link to it. :)
Hey that sounds just like a wavepool. 😂
Sadly, It's been like that for forty years at Ulus... I leave The Peak for the gumby tourists.
Om om🤣
This is why i only drop in on people if im on my bodyboard. Nobody ever gets upset at a bodyboarder!
😂😂😂
Clown world….I will never go back to Bali
locals at ulu needs to regulate the line up more ...... let people do stupid stuff with no reaction and this is the result ..... nip it in the bud before it blossoms into a bigger problem ........
its a tough problem to solve, with that many people.. you always get a few guys always paddling wider and taking every wave because they think its theirs because they are deeper.. but people with big heads need to realise even if they are in position it doesn't give them the right to take every single wave (locals are excluded) this also feeds drop ins because people see a guy taking every wave and get pissed off, greedy wanna be pro's almost piss me off more than clueless idiots.
have you ever surfed there? How are a couple of locals going to "regulate a lineup" with 400 people in the water? Give one or two a beating? How is a town that runs of surf tourism going to fare after that?
@@timblizzard4226 first time i went there was in 89 .... haven't been to indo in almost 20 yrs ( too many people ) and as far as locals go i think there's more than just a couple of locals( balos ) and even expats who put in a lot of time in the line up that can regulate the line up and i not even saying physical beatings ( idiot who acts out has to be told or they just keep doing it plus other surfers see its ok to do stupid stuff and get away with it and they're going to be tempted to do it ) ..... this new generation of surfers i feel has this entitlement thing going on and about the tourism thing i'm pretty sure there will never be a shortage of new people coming to the line up because of the wave ...
@@sangdangdoodle Mate, if you haven’t surfed there in 20 years then I don’t think you realise just how crowded it is. Literally, hundreds of people. These videos don’t show you the whole line up. A lot of these guys are not the typical surfers you’d see at a premiere break in Australia or California. There are countless intermediate euros.
So many people just makes the crowd desperate. You’ll often have 10 guys paddling for a wave even though 3 are too deep and 6 are out of position. They do that because barely any of them are actually getting waves which, again, makes the crowd desperate. Honestly, I don’t even fuck with the main peak, I just go to temples.
So ask yourself this, with that many people in the water, and people constantly coming and going, how on earth are the 10 or 15 locals supposed to “regulate the lineup”??? How do you propose they do that? Stand in the cave and tell people they aren’t allowed to surf?
Honestly, it’s got nothing to do with culture or etiquette. When it’s that busy, people get desperate, it’s basically that simple.
As for this generation being the problem, all of the problems I’ve had in the surf are with old boys. Those are the guy with an attitude problem, not the 20 somethings.
So
Half the locals take ‘customers’ out and tell their customers to drop in
Looks like Hawaii.
Kooks and greed = Bintangs on the beach
It’s hilarious how bad 95% of these surfers are and yet they think they are ripping 😂
video feedback would humble them
Surfing was great before internet... you had to know the tides, be able to watch weather reports on TV to predict swell and wind. no one posted videos of spots. My home breaks went from 20 guys on a good day to almost 100 once the internet took over the reports.
Yeah, the internet has definitely changed the surfing scene. It's amazing how quickly things can become crowded once information becomes widely available online. Sometimes I miss the old days when it was just a few of us out there enjoying the waves.
Why do people keep going back?
Maybe they like the surf atmosphere
@@SurfVideoBali Now KOOk atmosphere
Because its a magical place that can give you the wave of your life if you get it right.
You know what ruins everything…
Humans…
Regulation means modelling good behaviour, rather than kicking your board out and losing your shit
We need more wavepools
ulus only low tide and 5ft+ otherwise you might get hurt by some idiots....
Never going back to that place again. So many people in the way and dropping in every wave. It's not worth wasting time and money to deal with so many clowns.
That's girl in this video surfs better then everyone out. 😂
Guy paddles out, drops in on two guys right outa the box. Wondering why theyr'e sending him in? priceless
some people just don't get the etiquette. It's important to respect others in the lineup to keep things safe and enjoyable for everyone.
I saw the most bizarre scene in this spot. A tourist got in on a guy's wave and hit him in the face with his head. The guy passed out due to the crash and luckily he was rescued and taken with the current to Thomas Beach. The MF that dropin walked away unscathed.
ohh.. no. when is this? it was so scary.
It’s going to happen more and more with all the surf schools that don’t teach etiquette and manners. And asshole parents that don’t teach their entitled brat kids
Bali is now a kook's paradise. Used to be just Brazilians, Italians and locals who dropped in/snaked. Now it's typical everywhere. Even surf schools out at the reefs with pushins (with someone already on the wave). Haven't been back since covid and would only use the airport to transit. The modern surf image along with immediate posting of every beach, every wave, every minute is plain sad. If only there was a way to make surfing not cool...
The worst behavior I have seen in Bali was from Aussies (who thought they were locals). Brazilians have the fame mostly because of large groups and loud
Zombie😂😂
is alan sarlo out there??
Surfed here 3 weeks ago & had the worst experience I've had in the water. Toxic line up. Witnessed a girl in her 20's get punched in the head by an old Australian guy. Sad shit.
lmao
I'm calling bullshit
Like Tel Aviv out there (with better waves)
I got it no I got it 😂
Bring back the surfing license
There’s a old bald guy always dropping in in Ulu, idk if that’s him but he’s so annoying. He especially drops in on girls it seems btw
He's usually at Keramas.
Bali, QLD
Thats why i dont surf ulus if it's less than 6 ft. So many amateurs that it becomes more dangerous than 6 ft with half and oriented crowd...
Ahh I will stick to wakeboarding and wakesurfing. I don’t like saltwater anyway
Bald guy should be thanking that local for saving him from green board.
how lucky were those that got to surf in the 70s-90s… surfing has lost its way to the social media driven crowd .
Baldies getting aggro with their drop-ins........ and then looking for a fight 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 bring back rollerblades 💪🏼🤣
Waz there anybody that could surf 😂?
lots of arms waving around...flicky surfing types i dont like
Dude, this is just normal at Ulus, especially at the main peak. Temples is a little better.
I live in central america and surf 3 or 4 spots like this with few or no people out, empty line ups. My secret? I keep my mouth shut, learn how to read the surf report (Surfline) and no posting on social media.
It sounds like you have a great strategy for enjoying uncrowded waves in Central America! By keeping your spots a secret, reading surf reports, and avoiding social media posts, you're able to surf with fewer people around. Enjoy the waves!
Kooks
i couldnt think of anything worse than surfing in this toxic place
ohhh.. thank you
You're right unfortunately. I was first there in 1994 and counted 100 in the water. With the people wealthy enough to travel, etiquette is hard to find and the lack of respect in the water is a reflection of the entitlement those travelers carry with them everywhere they go. The Island of the gods is limited to small pockets these days. Growing smaller with each year.
I was there last may and had two of the best sessions of my life, despite the crowd.
That’s why I stopped surfing uluwatzoo
🙊
Where’s my man WAVE GURU Nick?
10 FT is totally uncrowded
damn they better start regulating out there the aussies do whatever they want
I've never had problems with Aussies in Bali... Brazilians on the other hand....
One of the bald headed dudes that dropped in at the start is french, he is two doors down near our room here at ulu’s.
They pretend to not understand what someone screaming down the line yelling means. They understand but choose to go anyway.
That’s my water! Get out of the way of me and my water.
ohhhhh I'm sorry, I didn't realize. Let's share the waves and enjoy the water together!
Ulus only bigger than 6 ft... less than that it is absolutely not worth
Too many tools in the sea in Bali
Surfing sucks anymore because of this 😂! Wasnt like this in the 70's and 80's
So many kooks, Bali has turned into a circus..
It’s too bad surfing became commercialized. What was once a lifestyle, freedom , and counterculture has become a nightmare
it's a shame how commercialization has changed the essence of surfing for many. It's important to hold onto the core values and spirit of the sport, even as it evolves.
bahahahah this place looks like hell SMH who would even want to go there let alone paddle out hahahha
Donkey Festival
I would get in a fight
Post Pandemic
I'd rather surf a close out with a few mates than deal with that shit fight.
The Buuuuuuuuuu
buuuuu
Bali is a zoo, give it a miss much nicer places than this, was good in the seventies
always brazillians thinking they own the ocean
Let's hope for more inclusivity and respect for everyone in the lineup. Surfing is for everyone to enjoy, regardless of nationality or background.
learn to sarf in bali
Surfing is fucked
Bali is a fucking circus !
Would rather surf a less crowded spot with poorer waves. I surf to chill not to fight for waves with kooks
is this AI?
Dude tried to take Aim and spear that guy who dropped in on him. Listen yeah I get it it's dangerous but it's going to happen. Especially when it's crowded like this. Don't go intentionally trying to hurt somebody cuz you got dropped in on and butt hurt about it. RLTW 3/75
filled with kooks
Can anyone say L..A.. GO HOME . 🤣🤣
Not (Lower Alabama).
this is NOT a place to learn to surf. Wtf
Learn respect you kooks. A plane ticket to paradise dosnt give you priority
Exactly! Respect for the locals and understanding the lineup etiquette are key to maintaining harmony in the surf. Let's all strive to be mindful and courteous out there
Surfing should be forbidden for bald guys..I mean they can,t even grow hair ?!
Not one barrel either. What's the point?
Too many surfers and not enough waves. Doesn't work.
My life is so much better without surfing in it.
Ha!
Pretty much all kooks, you get bad surfing,
what a bunch of kooks
Bali is ruined
Ohh no...
Absolute shit show, you would get leash choked or board speared for any of this in our line ups..
Waves look beautiful though..
Yeah, it's unfortunate how some lineups can become so chaotic.
doesn't look fun
Thank you
The more mediocre the surfer, the more agro 😂
this is true. most kooks are agro. The shredders are usually calm and chill.
Tô fora! 🤮
Seems like Bali is fuct. A victim of it's own success. Time to look for new spots.
Social media influencers, hipsters, and digital nomads have exacerbated the situation.
There are none!
Bali is ruined
I understand your sentiment. Bali has indeed undergone a lot of changes in recent years.
