  • Figure 8 Pools is located on a rock shelf in Sydney’s Royal National Park close to Burning Palms Beach.
We were monitoring the Hourly 4 Day Tide Forecast of the Risk Level Chart for several days before embarking on the Figure 8 Pools walk from Garrawarra Farm. We made sure that we went on the day that had long hours of low tide to give us ample time to explore. The risk chart can be found at the National Parks NSW website.
From Garrawarra Farm it's approximately 6km return trip down to the Figure Eight Pools. At the beginning, it was all the way walking downhill mostly on the well constructed mesh board track to the beach. Afterwards, there were a fair bit of rock scramblings and walking on the rock platform and rock shelf before reaching the figure 8 pools. We went on a winter day and it was not crowded at all. We even managed to sit around the figure 8 pool for almost half an hour for taking photos and a quick snack.
On our way back, we extended our walk by doing the Palm Loop Track. It was all the way mostly uphill on the way back and we ended our walk at the Otford lookout.
Many thanks to Frank for making our wishes of seeing the figure 8 pools came true.
