  • The Grand Cliff Top Walk in the Blue Mountains was officially opened on 24 March 2024. It will provide avid hikers with a 19km spectacular walk from Wentworth Falls to Katoomba.
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) spent 4 years creating the Grand Cliff Top Walk and has opened each section to the public upon completion, but it is now available as one continuous walk.
The $10 million project is funded by the NSW Government and delivered by NPWS. Blue Mountains City Council is a key partner in the project.
It’s recommended to do the walk over 2 days for full immersion of the natural beauty in the Blue Mountains. It showcases many stunning lookouts, the Three Sisters, several beautiful waterfalls and some charming villages in the Blue Mountains.
We decided to do the walk in the opposite direction, from the Scenic World in Katoomba to Wentworth Falls. We put up a night in a motel close to the Katoomba town centre.
On our second day walk, the weather was wet and freezing (5°C) that we were considering to abandon our walk. Glad that we persisted and gradually the weather made a turn as we walked into the afternoon.
Even though the track was wet, we were rewarded with incredible views and beautiful waterfalls that were more than enough to make up for it.
The highlight of the day was definitely catching a glimpse of the magnificent Wentworth Falls. Next time, we should hike to the bottom of the Wentworth Falls to have a full view of it.
We were all feeling really happy for completing the 2 day Grand High Top Walk. Many thanks to Toni for booking the accommodation and navigating the walk.
