No it is not the fault of the woman. How ungracious. The women are punished, beaten, tortured, and violated because of the DRUNKEN STUPOR OF THE MALE SECTOR. Sadly, very shamefully, most people cannot and will not face up to the sin of alcohol consumption.
"....the use of alcohol paralyzes the noble impulses, obscures one's intelligence, and makes one's character irritable. We can see how, when people who were benevolent and enjoyed transcendental awareness came under the influence of alcohol, as soon as they took even a sip, before even getting intoxicated, suffer a rapid transformation.
They become irritable, violent, and insensitive to things that are noble, beautiful, or grandiose, and in this way lose all their enlightenment. In a word, by the action of alcohol, their optimism turns to pessimism, and their happiness to sadness."
Francisco Madero wrote this over 100 years back. He was a president of Mexico.

Mentality of this class towards women needs to change. Feminists, women's rights activists need to educate this class, need to find out ways to teach equality to thus class. All the elite feminists can reach and can preach to just educated, city dwellers. what about this class. They even consider a women wearing a punjabi suit characterless and think she us asking for it. Feminists need to change the direction and start working for equality throughout and preaching these ppl. These are the masses in our country we can't ever achieve equality unless we change mentality of these classes.

To me it seems to be a way of life there & it is not comforting. Some men treat women in -humanely, that is so unfair. Very strict laws should be put in place to safeguard against violence, rape and crime perpetrated against women and children. The punishment should be very harsh. Poverty is certainly not an excuse. Rise up brave women against violence for all women and children. Bravo.

Time really appreciate this. You coherently addressed the root cause of the issue, but we need to understand that it is not only limited against women. This prejudice is an enmity of human against human whether men/women/children.
Best you name this violence as exploitation where any stronger can exploit the weaker and root cause is intolerance, and lack of gratification and compassion among mankind.
To address this cause, it is presume to be a very long process and can resolute when we can ahead towards civilized society. But as in the country, lynchings, anger have not spared anyone even in the cases like JNU and we become a more in-tolerated state.
