Okay, I don't normally leave comments but I discovered this channel for myself about 6 months ago. I'm a cartoonist and I absolutely love Ed and Jim and these videos. That said this interview is PURE GOLD. I love hearing these top notch veterans sharing stories and talking shop. So I left a comment just to say thank you for this one...and all you do.

I love that he’s not afraid of using modern tools to create comics. He’s one of the first pros that I noticed to not only use a Cintiq and Manga/Clip Studio but also YouTubing his process.

Fun Fact: the artist David Hockney has been doing a lotta digital art lately too & talked at extent about using new digital mediums; dude's 82 (!!)

It's refreshing to have a comic book channel that focuses on the technical aspects of the medium. (No politics, no drama. Just comic book talk that doesn't alienate anyone. THANK YOU!)

The Toddfather and now Dave Gibbons - awesome interviews guys! I love that he did the LP cover for "Too old to rock-n-roll too young to die" and didn't get Jethro Tull.

I showed this man some of my attempts at comic art at a NY con back in '86 (?). He was there with Alan Moore, just walking around, checking out the tables. They were both super gracious and looked at each page of my amateur meisterwerk. I'll never forget Dave Gibbons asking me how old I was (17) then responding "Well, you're certainly much better than I was at 17!" I walked on air for about a year after that. Thank you for this interview!!

This channel is amazing, guys. You two rocks! Congratulations! And a great interview. (like always, I have discover this channel recently and I am a big fan) Just want to point out that Arturo Del Castillo (that was named for Dave) dont was european but chilean born, argentinian based amazing artist. In the 60s in argentina was the end of the Golden Age of comics and many artist where go to work for DC thompson and Fleetway, two of the bigs UK publishers. Besides to Del Castillo where big names like Alberto Breccia, Solano Lopez, Enrique Alcatena (a decade later) and many others. Also: It would be incredible if you made specials about comics from other countries since you always have interesting points of view and knowledge of what they are talking about. Thing that is not found much on youtube about Comic. Works like the masterpiece of Mort Cinder (Ohesterheld-Breccia with a great Fantagraphics edition) Sergio Toppi, Dino Battaglia, Moebius, Druillet, etc ...just an idea. Congratulations again!

Such a treat. You weren't kidding around when you said something big was coming. Very cool interview with a great artist.
Loved his insight and was blown away with him talking about his thumbnails. It made sense to me that for Watchmen he would put SO much effort into a classic, but at the time, he wouldn't have known that it was going to be such a success and that his thumbnails would be printed. So finding out that he did/does this for all his work is mind-blowing. I'm not a cartoonist, but I found his process to be super interesting and informative.
I think of his work and what comes to mind is storytelling. He's not the flashiest or the most stylistic but few out there can tell a story as well as Mr. Gibbons. Plus, a master letterer, he's a complete package. LEGEND.

Great channel, it’s something I’ve been wanting to see for years and it was sorely missing in order to make comics relevant in the modern day. CBR and all these countdowns and rant videos on the current state of comics never cover what actually make comics great, while you guys are doing comics, and their creators, and the creative process justice. I’m sure he’s at the top of your lists to find and interview, but do you guys have any info on the whereabouts of Barry Windsor Smith, or any potential of doing an interview with him at some point? It’d be great to hear what he’s been up to over the past 25 years. It’s already amazing that you’ve got such great interviews with Bissette, Gibbons, Vigil, etc. Who I can’t believe up to this point haven’t had interviews of any substantial length aside from in print before you guys. Keep doing what you’re doing, I want to thank you guys so much for bringing such important resources to the history of comics.

Imagine sitting in Grenoble, France, listening to this, then hearing that Gibbons and every other one of my heroes was here one day for a comics convention! Of course, this is probably about 35 years ago, and I was too young and not even living in France. Still what a LEGENDARY event that must have been and it's crazy I've never heard about it, or it never happened again...
