Pierce was a prime example of how you don’t necessarily have to be uber athletic/fast to be a great scorer, but rather how having impeccable footwork and the ability to separate/create space is what separates the elite scorers.
Exactly what Luka doing rn
I love PPs game. Nothing flashy. Just tough. Could score from anywhere on the floor. Clutch. Deadly. Big time. Never shrunk in big moments. Showed up in the big games. I am a Heat fan so I hated Boston during that rivalry but Paul Pierce was and always will be one of my favorite players. This highlight vid is missing some of his classic games against Iverson's Sixers in the playoffs. Pierce had some big time performances in that rivalry. Salute to the Truth.
As someone who had the pleasure of watching his career I feel like he is one of the most underrated disrespected and under appreciated players in the history of the NBA. In New England we know The Truth.
How? He was 75 greatest players wym
He never, ever exerts more energy than is necessary to complete the play; not a product of laziness, but brilliance.
Well said
I love how the team is so confident the shot is going in that they're already rushing the other hoop before the ball is even dropping towards the hoop.
Paul Pierce game is so simple and smooth.
He was my favorite player growing up
Same here.
He had great range as a shooter, but he was an absolute nightmare in the paint.
At any moment he could drive for a layup, pull up for a floater or a jumper at the elbow, step back for a jump shot or pump fake, make a spin move to the basket OR pull up for a jumper, and last but not least, back down his defender with a post up. And on top of all that, if any of these moves draw contact, he could still finish and get to the line for an extra shot.
His scoring game had little weakness.
Plus he was an underrated passer.
None except he wasn't 7ft
Paul Pierce was a superstar.
Yep, plus he is the only guy who has a positive win/loss record against lebron.
Paul is absolutely offensive machine. His plays is like the art of scores. The footwork, tough plays, especially the 2+1 & 3+1 plays...
Not the most athletic player but in his prime could do whatever he liked on the court. Top 25 in the NBA's career list in minutes played, 3-pointers made (fifth), free-throws made (eight), steals and points. A first ballot hall of famer.
I have been saying .paul pierce is one unique guy who can score without athletism . He put all the basic tgt to make easy buckets . Cant imagine if he had a very athletic body
You gotta admit in those 08 finals the Boston crowd was crazy loud every game respect to their fans
Hell yea they were
If you saw the player intros it was impossible not to get amped up with that team.
When they talk about players who can play in any era, Pierce fits that mold. Just due to his offensive repertoire
Oh, and his basketball I.Q. is outstanding. Some players use pure speed to blow by their defender. Pierce use that split second you easy up to do it.
He's the definition of a classy player.
Love this Paul is my favorite player
+Jasmine Jackson yup thnxs
Jasmine Jackson kool
Pierce was a top 7 or 8 player from 2001-2008. 26 ppg, amazing in elimination games. He dropped 46 in game 5 in best of 5 vs philly (talking bout practice. .)
It's amazing how he is slow but at the same time tricks players like he doing a crossover.
That’s a real hooped right there lol
Dudes got rabbit speed
that's why people compared luka to him
paul was the man
He wasn’t super slow lol. I think he could sprint without the ball, but like THE BEST PROS, controlled pace and body to kill defenders.
One of my favorite pieces of advice came from Jason Kidd…
To Paraphrase…
A lot of the young guys try to play the game at TOP SPEED because TOP SPEED ATHLETICISM is what got them to the Pros…. BUT… once you can’t just jump over everybody, and 82 games becomes an entirely different animal than the 20-40 games played in college, YOU LEARN HOW TO DOMINATE AT HALF-TO-THREE QUARTERS SPEED…. THATS HOW YOU MAINTAIN A 20 YEAR CAREER AT THE HIGHEST TIER.
The Highest Skilled Superstars we’ve ever seen almost never sprint most of the game
Its crazy you can look at him right now and couldn't even tell he was a monster on the court. Seen this guy make plenty clutch shots and silent the crowd at away games. Miss watching him play!
Awesome job man! Such a great video it really welly displays the greatness of Paul Pierce and how there's a lot left to his game with many highlights from this season!!!!
Paul always reminded me of a more athletic Glen Rice, appeared chubby but was quick asf off the ball, he would thrive in the game today without question
I miss him so much
Growing up I ALWAYS disrespected his greatness in favor of the above the rim wings like Vince, TMac, and Kobe, but the more I watched, the more I admired how he gave EVERYONE buckets off arguably the greatest bag of tricks since Olajuwon💯 Kobe’s Second Phase rivals Pierce’s, but Pierce used his body MUCH BETTER.
hes slow but the ball handling is pure thats y his offensive skillset is so fierce he by far my favorite SF all hail pierce #The Truth
He was not so slow when he was young
still wasnt fast
FrostyyBreh he was pretty athletic when on came into the league
nba2kguyofbeastness he has hops but he wasnt that quick off the dribble
***** thats all that matters.
Paul Pierce in 2007 is the one that got me watching CELTICS / NBA overall
great highlights... the only thing missing is all the clutch shots and game winners he's hit throughout his career
I saw him in Boston . The only nba game I ever went to . Loved it
Already miss you Pierce. Brooklyn got a living legend heading there way
Lolllll 8 years later
8:45 was my favorite.
I'm really gonna miss Pierce in Boston. I'm gonna make sure I'm in the TD Garden when they retire his number.
Great mix, thanks.
That step-back should be trademarked. Slow but smooth and effective
hes such a great player that he can do every offensive move when he joined the league. showing us with not a good driving speed, but still can be a big problem for the defenders:) love his play, hope he can retire at the Celtics.
Best three point shooter in Celtics history
He had underrated strength, and could actually guard lebron because he was one of the few small forwards who could actually not get overpowered by lebron.
The only other guy who could defend lebron was Ron Artest.
Are you able to make another mix? He's really good to study, he helps my game.
Thanks. Love your work
luka doncic plays almost exactly like him but no one wants that convo 👀
Bro I was just talking about this... The only difference is Luka is a savant at passing the ball, like Magic and Paul Pierce combined.
Paul Pierce played with straight raw talent like he didn’t have to do much to score
Future Hall Of Famer #TheTruth
yeah u right
one of ma favorite players.
One of my favorite player
The Truth
Pierce's hand eye coordination is off the charts. He's slow for an elite player. His lower body is usually contorted in some unpredictable way after he releases the shot. That's NOT how you teach body control for a scorer. Watch Kobe. His is textbook (despite his propensity to put up crazy shots that he shouldn't take)...No matter. Pierce's pure hand eye coordination guides the ball into the net. He has always been my 2nd favorite player behind Dwayne Wade.
Did Pierce's shots go in? Isnt he the second highest scorer in Celtic history? Isnt he in the NBA and youre not? well shut up then.
Dillon Lyons
I believe I was praising Pierce. Allow me to paraphrase since you aren't so good at that. DESPITE Pierce routinely getting himself into positions where other players can't score he has managed to score throughout his fantastic career because of his extremely gifted hand eye coordination. And no, he never was fast for an elite player. My point was that it did not matter because of Pierce's special talent.
And you're on the internet, bud. You should know that every couch jockey is going to have an opinion. I've read some of your posts. You're more than willing to comment on things about which you obviously have no expertise. So drop the hypocrisy. We are all here to talk and judge.
Uses the body really well reminds me of Luka
the best step back i have ever seen
Legend
Paul Pierce is not talked about enough in the 2008 campaign versus the Lakers.
My GOAT
Finally thanks for the pierce
I've watched pierce my whole life he was the captain of my team but I'm happy he gets to play with garnett and try to get another championship, As a Boston fan and native I think Nets and Celtics fans will unite for a bit I see no reason for animosity which is actually pretty cool.
Man i was a kid watching him on tv at the McDonald’s All American game and he stood out among all those dudes. He can hoop. I could imagine he’s that guy where it can get real in a hurry if you’re playing against him and he’s on a tear dam. Bag of tricks that he has you would really have to be on one to get him off his sh!t.
That stepback over Chandler at 1:06 was nastyyyy
He's gonna be back in the all star game this year, he's takin Luol's spot
My favorite player and he will make the wizards a serious contender with his scoring an shooting ability and his underrated passing defensive and rebounding ability.hes clutch and one of the best leaders out there,he will greatly improve wall and beal and hopefully help out otto porter
Well.. this aged horribly
hey NBAClutchTime can you make a longer video of The Truth please..??
I believe he has had too much of a successful career to be crammed into just a 10 minute video. I'd really like to see more of this Legend do what he does.
simply da best!!!
He’s Was Luka Doncic before Luka Doncic!
That’s what I said lol
Only Luka is like Magic passing the ball too
The last true olschool NBA Player in the 00 and 10's era. A Mix of Dennis Johnson, Carmelo Anthony, Bernard Kingm Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen. I salute you with alot of love Mr. Paul Pierce. That's THE TRUTH xD
I'm a 76ers fan and after all the cheese he has done to us , it's sad to see him leave Boston . Hopefully since he couldn't retire their his jersey can definitely .
I Like How He Just Pulls Up In Peoples Face
that man is one of the best pf to me and yes he is slow but have them crazy handles hes my favorite player ant nobody messing with him and he balling on young players
The Truth!!!! My boy!!
I'm so sad to see Pierce leave. I've always been a fan of his. But its time for him to move on. As a Celtic fan, I appreciate Paul's effort over the years. No bitterness this way. #thankspaul
Best three point shooter in Celtics
Greatest Boston Celtic player of all time!
He was able to go from off the dribble into his shot from anywhere
People credit harden for popularizing the step back but pierce was already doing it a lot years before.
1:31 that move was MJ-like
my favourite basketball player```
Pierce is a master of the old man game!!!!
He really can draw fouls man
PP can easily play till hes 40. Perfect old man's game.
In my opionion one of the most crafty players in the league. He's tough to guard
05:52 - the power of pivot foot changing
I was never find of Paul pierce when it came to playing my team the lakers but I do respect his game along with ray Allen and KG
Ahh the good ole days. Now it's just rondo and Kobe.
If its possible, could you please do one of Nick Young? I'd really appreciate it!
Such a smooth silky game.
#34 Legend!!
Never thought Chris Mihm was part of the 2008 Lakers team during the finals. 06:51
Paul Pierce Celtics Legend
The amount of foul calls he'd get today. It seemed like every play he's getting fouled if it's 2023
he's using the hesitation move, and because he can shoot so quickly and effectively, defenders have to respect that potential shot which gives pierce time to go to the basket
Paul pierce is a HOF, my favorite player. Proves you don't have to be the fastest or the most athletic to get buckets.
Yep. Watching again after his HOF speech
Though he's well known for misleading injury he's actully very fine player
Welcome to Brooklyn!!!
Man he makes shots look easy.
the best individual stats in celtics history are were and will be the #1 rebounding and #2 shotblocking from russell #3 scoring from bird #4 passing from cousy and #5 passing from havlicek
Welcome to the Brooklyn Nets!!!
Top 3 smoothest jumper
My man paul pierce profesional scorer
Still an all-star
Paul Pierce invented the step back
Yes please do a joe johnson
welcome to d.c
Old man game , the truth!
paul pierce's technique is so underrated, at 1:30, iman shumpert, elite young defender all over him, pierce well beyond his athletic prime, clears 3 feet of space to get his shot off with one move. the truth hurts.
Clinic of scoring
How does he make it look so easy. Hes so slow. very nice
Already three videos of Paul uploaded. Check the list posted on my channel to see which highlights are already uploaded.
He's not slow....he's just not fast. One announcer said "he's deceptively quick". His bag of tricks and strength were unreal...combine that with a 1st rate midrange and 3pt shooting and there you have The Truth
Time flys
Quien fue el líder de esos celtics? Tengo mis dudas de si garnett o pierce
The Celtics Big 3 should of won their 2nd championship in 2010 against the Lakers
Already one uploaded. Check the list posted on my channel to see which highlights are already uploaded.
Can you do a Jamal Crawford highlight please.
