Your reviews are very accurate and thorough. Copper was my “home mountain” until a year ago and this review is spot on.

copper is one of the best resorts in colorado. like other viewers said, its the most accessible if you park for free, usually no lines, and the most diverse terrain that is offered by any resort in colorado

Copper is my favorite resort off of i70 In Colorado. As a student I can get an ikon base for less than 400 which is a steal considering copper has 0 blackout dates. The alpine lot is free with shuttles and convenient. Copper can get busy at times but it doesn’t suffer from the same over crowding and masses of Jerrys that breck and keystone attract. On the mountain is a good time as well. I have 30 days there and I still don’t think I’ve found every nook and cranny. Theres such a huge variety of terrain for more advanced skiers. Personally I enjoy that the harder terrain is serviced by slower lifts. Idk what it is, I just like it. I find that I can get all over the mountain in a day and just go with the flow. The journey required to get to other places for me is part of the fun and breaks harder sessions of moguls and blacks with easy going carved turns on blue groomers. The mid mountain lodge is pretty good for getting water or ford it serves as an easy to locate meeting place which can serve as a launch point for you and your group to almost anywhere on the mountain. I find the staff to be really chill as well. My biggest complaint it the bubble lift as it’s hard for me to sit on my poles and parents always want to put down the bubble which causes my goggles to fog and it gets too hot for my liking. In addition if the part of the bar that is meant to go between your legs clips your thigh because of an over eager parent wants it down it hurts quite a lot. That and the craters in the alpine lot as well during the spring suck too but otherwise everything is great.

Copper jumped to my top 5 after skiing there just as Covid hit two years back, and resorts closed shortly after. The flight back to SF was the first with some wearing masks. Yes the 3-Bears chair has added easy access to challenging terrain variety, really fantastic options depending on your cup of tea. Snow was great everywhere. We hit it perfectly. Mostly blue skies for 3 days.
It reminds me of the ridge at Mammoth Mountain off Chair 23, but that is 11,000' with Copper at 12,000'. Copper has great access to & from multiple base lodges with huge parking lots to all via free shuttle. No worries with a few fixed grips as my old bones kind of enjoy a longer ride up to recoup. Plus, the lines are most always non existent. We found slope or base lodges without issue while touring the mountain for later in the trip. Great Mountain for all abilities and goals in my opinion. OK one more, it is close to Silverton and Dillion with a ton of lodging options and restaurants.

Copper was my first time skiing after a long hiatus in 2018. I've been back since and coming in March and bringing my nephew to learn snowboarding. I've been to a lot of places and this is my all-time favorite mountain. Not too big, and not too crowded, beginners have their own area so they're not running into you (literally) all day. Lots of cruising runs and challenging blues. It's close to Dillon/Frisco area and about an hour from Denver airport.

He did get a couple things wrong. It is actually one of the easiest mountains to get around and has one of the best infrastructures. I have only seen such updated lifts and management skiing in Austrian Alps, none in US come close... Don't let me start on Winter park, Vail, Breck....

There are old lifts at Copper, Fixed grip ancient clunkers still plodding their way up the mountain, that is true. One even has no safety bars !

I went there last year on a two-week ski trip with a fairly large group. We all had Ikon passes so we skied Copper, Winter Park and A- Basin. We were fortunate enough to get some much-needed snow while we were there. In our group we had a few blue trail skiers and Copper was great for them. They loved the front side while the rest of us skied the bowls and bumps. I enjoyed all three mountains, but I think for a group with mixed skiing abilities Copper was very good. It kept everyone happy, which is important. I never skied anything that was super steep but fun just the same. I am sure I missed that area you mentioned. I think for a family this place would be excellent. It's good size area and it's easy to get around. For me the lifts were fine, and I never even noticed that lack of lodging in the bowls area, then again, I rarely come in to eat. Between the three ski areas we skied I enjoyed myself a lot and don't have a favorite. They all had things I loved about them. Good video and when I return, I will look for that terrain you mentioned.

Great review. Actually considering going here, as it has the great terrain and slower lifts, especially surface lifts, don’t phase me at all (like, I can self load a T-bar and ride it backwards). I am from Australia, so I have completely different expectations for a ski resort, and it looks like Copper matches them

Copper is a great mountain. Been going there for 30 years. I call it “Vail without the rich.” Their 4 pack is a great bargain. Ikon base pass if you ski a good bit and Ikon works more good places and has Kitzbühl and Doloniti Superski in Europe.

What you don't point out is that for early-season skiers, Copper rents out much of it's east terrain to ski racing teams from Europe. When you buy an expensive lift ticket and you find that some of the best terrain at Copper is not available to the paying public, I find that frustrating. I urge people to call ahead of time to find out if this will be the case when you plan to be there.

Copper is my fave!!! March Saturdays can have 5-min midday lifelines at the SuperBee! There are only ever so many advanced/experts on the mountain. Get up top early and stay up and/or only on the east side. The only crowds you'll see all day are the first lift. Only two things wrong at the moment: 9 am start on the weekends? F-in C-suite dickhead's idea last season. 2nd: when Intrawest took half the beginner area to build Lewis Ranch. If you have beginners, Copper's green terrain is way too overcrowded on Saturdays.

5:40 this video makes Coppers terrain parks seem insignificant when these parks are actually the crown jewel of this mountain.
You fail to mention that some of the parks takes up multiple top to bottom runs that are serviced by a high speed quad called Woodward Express. Terrain park features off Woodward Express range from small to extra large. However, there’s Terrain park zones spread throughout the entire frontside of the mountain. To be specific, there’s actually 9 distinct park zones off American Eagle, American Flyer, Woodward Express, and Kokomo Express.
    1. Central Park: this has medium to extra large features and is meant for advanced riders.
    2. Peace Park which has small to medium features
    3. The super pipe
    4. The mini pipe (pipe dreams)
    5. Multiple Start Parks
    6. Multiple Progression parks
    7. Reds backyard park
    8. Family cross
    9. snow cross (which isn’t on the map 😉)
They’ll even sometimes build mogul runs with jumps in the middle of the run off SuperBee.
You also fail to mention that copper is an athletes mountain having a gym at the base as well as an indoor training facility called “The Barn at Woodward at Copper” with a all year park jump into a foam pit, trampolines, a pump track, and an indoor skate park.
You also don’t even mention that at copper you have the ability to go to summer camp and still ski/snowboard park features from June through early August (summer camp is for kids mostly but they have an adult session). No other ski resort in colorado you have to ability to hit jumps, rails, and a quarter-pipe in the middle of summer.
Since copper is the athletes mountain, it has contests regularly and most likely you’ll see an xgames athletes training in the large parks and also ski racers training off the Super Bee lift.

This was a disappointing review. Copper is hands down the best overall resort in CO, in terms of the range of terrain. And the food is pretty good there actually on mountain at Aerie and the base lodges like Jack’s et al. Ski school instructors are excellent guides. And the organization of greens on the west, the blues in the middle and the blacks in the east make it a breeze to navigate. Then one has to go up to the alpine and enter the different bowls for even steeper double diamonds. Sorry Peak R , this review did not cut it. Surprising . And of course before I end this, it is a Racer paradise and park heaven …Also note in the 2nd week of April 2024, snow in Copper’s Tucker Mountain and Union bowl and Spaulding was excellent.
