Grand Targhee seems like a really great spot. They used to be a Mt Bohemia reciprocity deal but haven't seen them for a season or two. Hopefully they get back on!
9:02 BRO WHO CAME UP WITH THAT NAAAAME 💀💀💀

Great videos. However, however.
It's a rocky mountain covered in various layers of snow. If you want safe, sunbathe... indoors 😁
This Grande Targhee place is a fictional place without weed. Stay in Colorado! You will love the weed! Again, this place doesn't exist. Go away.
It’s a great place when I lived in big sky I would always take a trip down the hwy into driggs. Got to ski colters lift the season it opened as well! Best snow I’ve ever skied. And I’ve been a lot of places. I love wydaho
I'm in the process of planning a trip there. We finally swallowed the thought of the expensive lodging only to find out this would be the highest we've ever paid for lift tickets. It's crazy expensive for being so remote. 210.00 lift tickets😮
Get an Epic Day Pass if you're skiing over 4 days there! $405 for 4 days www.epicpass.com/passes/epic-day-pass.aspx
@@PeakRankings Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at the Epic Pass, but it is 982(still good). I didn't realize there was an Epic Day Pass. Much thanks! I was second guessing Telluride.
@@PeakRankings I've been following you guys for years, time to sub. Thanks!
It’s because you’re not wanted there. Gfys
You guys suck. You’re like hey here’s a nice quiet resort that you should come to and bring your dumb family or better yet a busload of Asians too just so you can make your lame video get a real job maybe even go be a Lyft operator and make no money but at least she’ll be staying honest
You could ag least address the elephant in the room by talking of the carbon impact of skiing and booking a trip to Europe just for a few days of leisure...
you should quit skiing and start snowboarding, you'll get way more babes
Dude put on your downhill ski first! Although this was 4 years ago I guess you’ve probably learned that lesson by now
“Grands/ Grants” Targhee 😂 Now say Oregon or is it “Ora-gone.” Ahhh, East Coasters… “Grands” Teton 😂
Why the hell does he keep calling it Grants Targhee?
Lots of good straightforward info on this channel, but the narrator does seem to be a bit of an odd one
Despite it occasionally being foghee and windhee, Targhee is a gem.
Cause the soy boys don't have enough charging stations
The ghee is the upper tier of undiscovered with the lower tier going to Anthony Lakes Oregon
Turner is really the country's undiscovered gem.
Shhhh. Please keep it that way.
Dude randomly has 1 ski on 10:00
do you ever think that you're ruining some resorts by blowing them up like this?
Nope. Do you think the only reason it's uncrowded is because no one has heard of it? They've been open a long time. Pretty sure word has gotten out already. It's hard to get to and will likely stay uncrowded no matter how many videos are made of it.
czcams.com/video/hvF49hsU_i0/video.htmlsi=muOpiNq14F1kWxxU&t=600 RIP that guy who lost his ski LOL (at around 10:00)
Most of us who have skied Pow Mow for years won't miss the Village or Mary's lifts. They are both VERY slow and serve terrain that isn't that inspiring. Plus they were installed only a few years ago. Putting a lift on Lightening Ridge on the other hand is a winner! Steeper terrain!
Spent 4 days at Targhee a couple years ago. Really enjoyed it. Stayed slope side. It's a laid back place which I like and the terrain was solid. Also helped to get a 10" and 28" dump while I was there. The 2ft plus was a serious dump but the vis was terrible. Luckily, I had been there a couple days and could get around. Would certainly go back...favorite runs were good/bad/ugly. North facing aspect = held a ton of deep soft snow for days.
Thanks for the info. Makes me want to give it a shot. I would anyway, but this gives me info that is helpful coming from the SE US, no easy feat, so knowing what is there when you have not yet been is super helpful.
I'd suggest that anyone skiing a week at Jackson Hole take the bus to Targhee for a day. I did, and it was a very nice break from the challenge of Jackson.
If you guys keep reviewing lesser known mountains, pretty soon everywhere will be crowded and tracked out just like the mega resorts. Used to be people knew how to keep secrets….
Unfounded fears. There are always reasons why uncrowded places are uncrowded. I've known about Grand Targhee for 15yrs and have long sought to go there and yet I still haven't gotten around to it. It's far from anywhere, it's not on a major pass and doesn't have as much challenge to attract the type of skier willing to go that far to get to it. And it's also overshadowed by JH. It is a niche place that suits a particular type of skier. Also your perspective is very selfish 'other people shouldn't enjoy what I get to'.
@@bearclaw5115 - ask me if I care. It’s not so much that other people shouldn’t get to enjoy spots. It’s just that skiing/snowboarding have become different activities than they used to be 20 years ago. Now with services that spoonfeed you weather forecasts and social media blowing up quieter spots people don’t need to be as “hungry” as they once used to be to chase good conditions. Add in the fact that influencers and the X-games have glamorized the lifestyle and you have hoardes of sheeple coming to the mountains completely unprepared for driving in winter conditions, blasting music from their Bluetooth speakers, and getting wasted at the bar and then taking laps endangering themselves and others. The only reason you haven’t gotten to Targhee is because you haven’t tried hard enough. If you wanted to get there, you’d go. Simple as that. I hit Targhee back in 2003 because I drove 24hrs from Michigan with a bunch of buddies because we wanted to. We hit Bridger, and Big Sky as well. We decided not to hit Jackson because the ‘ghee got more snow that day. I eventually got back out to Jackson some years later. I live in the southwest now close enough to really good skiing and have several options for where to go but I keep my mouth shut because some places should just stay local.
Peakrankings, in the future will we ever see a Pacific Northwest ski resorts ranked?
Yep!
No long runs? After skiing Beaver Dick's (an actual run name) I was sore for days.
I've only skied there once, but loved it! We had a gorgeous blue bird powder day!
Last time I was there I couldn't see much but there was 8 inches of powder so the trees made it a lot of fun. Gotta go back when I can see the place.
Wait at 16:54, I’m seeing score changes for like Big Sky w’ Tram add-on and some other resorts on how Targhee stacks up, are you guys already in the process of changing mountain scores based on recent improvements to the resorts
Yessir!
A lot of good points, but Targhee shines on pow days. It pow days are similar to powder mountain in its ski vibe and strong local devotees. So if you have an Ikon pass and its not a pow day ski Jackson. But for an alt vibe try Targhee. Teton pass between Jackson and Targhee is steep, but does get plowed a bunch. Props to Targhee for not going crazy with lift ticket prices. I wish they were also on the Indy pass as a compromise.
PowMow is screwed by Mr Netflix. Unfortunately its magic is gone forever.
Welcome to Utah! Now go home.
“30 year old quads are at the end of their service life”, meanwhile Nakiska laughs as it’s 1987-vintage quads keep spinning and spinning, with only one chair having been replaced since it opened (the Gold triple, which was re-opened at Fernie as Polar Peak).
I keep going back, I like it better than Jackson Hole.
SRG's fav resort!
The ghee changed my life. One of my favorites. Can’t wait to go back.
I know what you mean...
PeakRankings, I love your videos... usually... but this review made me shudder. Peakrankings is so unbelievably off the mark about Grand Targhee-he’s like the guy who shows up to a gourmet dinner and complains there aren’t any chicken nuggets. His personality is about as exciting as watching paint dry. His entire existence seems dedicated to missing the point. He has no idea what he’s talking about, probably because he’s too busy living in his own delusional world as a trust fund baby from Enceladus, where skiing is done on slopes made of frozen methane, and the snow is composed of microscopic diamond dust. He was probably teleported to Earth by his alien parents who wanted him to "experience the real world." But, of course, he can’t comprehend humanity. That’s why he’s so out of touch with the raw, untamed beauty of Grand Targhee. It’s no wonder he doesn’t get it-he’s too busy looking for the valet to park his spaceship. He claims Targhee isn't popular? That’s the point! It's the hidden gem, the secret stash that only true aficionados, the connoisseurs of the alpine arts, can truly appreciate. Epic and Ikon passes? Those are for the uninformed masses, the dilettantes who wouldn’t know good skiing if it slapped them in the face and left a snowflake tattoo. Targhee is for the enlightened, the chosen few, the skiers who scoff at mediocrity and embrace the unadulterated essence of the mountain. Complaining about the fog? That's like whining that the Mona Lisa has too much paint. The fog is atmospheric magic, an ethereal shroud that keeps the snow in a state only seen in Warren Miller films. It's practically a religious experience, akin to Moses parting the Red Sea but with more snow, more glory, and an immeasurable amount of epicness. His take on Targhee’s terrain? Absolutely laughable, like calling Mount Everest a molehill. The views from Fred's Mountain are so breathtaking, they could make a stone statue weep and perhaps pen a sonnet. It’s like discovering the Holy Grail of skiing, a treasure trove of untouched snow and serene landscapes that would make even Indiana Jones break down in tears of joy. He argues Targhee lacks facilities and accessibility? That’s like criticizing a Michelin-starred meal for not being a greasy burger from a fast-food chain. The base lodges offer food so exquisite it might as well be ambrosia, dining in the halls of Valhalla but with ski boots on. You want convenience? Go to a shopping mall. As for the short runs and modest vertical drop, that’s like saying the Grand Canyon isn’t deep enough. Short runs? Ha. Every turn, every mogul, every tree run is like a symphony of snow and adrenaline. Peakrankings is just hating with copium because he can’t handle the truth: Grand Targhee is the zenith of ski resorts, the Shangri-La of the slopes, the Everest of powder. It’s where legends are made, and real skiers ski. Deal with it. #Free0xCUBE

You failed to notice the biggest problem of Zermatt: ski in a bad weather day. Because the entire mountain has no single tree in sight, the visibility is terrible when weather is bad. Worse, they close most of lifts during windy or snowing days. Among 9 days I was there a few years ago, only 3 days the mountain was fully opened.
At 1:30 I skied there in Zermatt in March. That whole slope had an avalanche when I was above it. Three deaths.
I want to tell you that I need A copy of the script that you read to reread again and again in order to be safe and certain. Really! Publish a small book, I will purchase if accompanied by a map! Thank you so much.,
