Check out this Elvis video next: 👉 • Elvis Presley
Elvis demonstrated his desire for racial reconciliation in the musicians he chose, and in the treatment they received. When he made his first appearance in texas at the Astrodome, according to Myrna Smith, Elvis was told, 'Well, you can leave the black girls home. You don't have to bring them'.
Myna Smith: Elvis responded with, 'Well if they don't come, I don't come'. But he was really upset about it. There was one person in particular who had sent the message. So when we got there, we were greeted by this little blonde in a convertible and she had to drive us around and she was his daughter. So Elvis always made sure he got even. I'm sure he said, 'And I want your daughter to drive them'.
The Sweet Inspirations met him when they arrived for the first rehearsals for the '69 engagement. The 'Sweets' worked with Elvis in Vegas, on his national concert tours and on recordings from 1969 to 1977. Myrna Smith also backed Elvis up during his 1976 Graceland recordings, both in February of that year and in the October/November sessions, resulting in two albums.

No white artist (50's, 60's, 70's) had as many black artists as friends and as many black fans as elvis. even as a young boy, elvis loved black culture.
Right ! 👍
@Let Your L⚡️GHT Forever Shine ❤️ he sure did. And. He. Never. Saw. Color. Ever.
I don't think Elvis had black friends and fans.. Or loved black culture. Elvis had friends and fans, and loved all cultures. I don't think he looked at anyone and said, "he's black, or he's white." Elvis just saw human beings. And I think this is how it should be for everyone.
@@rubyirene2500 well said and I agree with you 💯 %👍.
@@octavius8562 you do not know what you are talking about.
Elvis is a friend to everybody. His cook is black preparing his food 24/7. Security guard at Graceland is black. His background singers for a long time are black. He had so many black friends. He grew up in a black comuinity and started singing gospel with black people. Elvis is such a wonderful person loved by many. Elvis is forever in our hearts.
The King of the Blues, B.B. King, said in 2010: "With Elvis, there was not a single drop of racism in that man. And when I say that, believe me I should know".
KING OF HEARTS & LOVE ⚡❤⚡💯🥰
"I wasn't just a fan, I was his brother. He said I was good and I said he was good; we never argued about that. Elvis was a hard worker, dedicated, and God loved him ... I love him and hope to see him in heaven. There'll never be another like that soul brother."

That's right. They showed. James. Crying. As he was. Talking about. Elvis. And Sammy and. Bb king. It don't get. Better than that. Darlin.
ELVIS PRESLEY THE BEST AND THE ONLY, FOREVER ❤️
My theory is that because he was a southern white man, people assumed it was true. But we now have recorded proof that it was a lie. If people still believe that ugly rumor, they are ignorant. All they need to do is listen to the testimonies of black people who actually knew him. Estelle Brown, one of his back-up singers said he was an angel. James Brown referred to him as a soul brother. Muhammad Ali said Elvis was one of the sweetest people you could know. The list goes on. I am black and I believe the people who knew him personally. He loved everyone.
Lot of people don't realize he was also Native American

"Otis Blackwell, was a prolific, phenomenal…writer. He wrote some of the greatest Elvis Presley songs ever. And this was a black man. He died penniless. And no one wrote about this man ever, they didn’t write one book about him at all. His songs were heard all over the world. And I met his daughter today, and I was so honored. To me, meeting her was on the same level as meeting the Queen of England." - Michael Jackson
@@crazy4corbinbleuxWhy are you posting this BS? Otis Blackwell wrote songs for many artists. About writing for Elvis he declared in an 1957 article in Jet Magazine:
"I made a good deal. I made money. I'm happy."
Blackwell wrote over 1000 songs. In addition to the four songs he wrote for Elvis, he also wrote "Great Balls of fire" and " Breathless" for Jerry Lee Lewis, "Just Keep It Up" and "Hey little girl" for Dee Clark, "Handy Man" for Jimmy Jones.
Blackwell has been inducted in the Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame (1986), the National Academy of Popular Music's Songwriters Hall of Fame (1991) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2010)
If Blackwell died penniless I wonder were his money went?
That rumor was spread by jealous artists. Legends like BB King, Ali, Jim Brown, etc. knew it was false!

Bb King liked Elvis…
He was a great man. Had a marvelous voice, handsome, and charm. He was a complete artist.
Elvis The king forever.
Did you know that Elvis didn't like being called the king, he said Jesus was the True and only KING.
Elvis was just so unique outstanding and precious that His upbringing wouldn't let Him be anything than humble generous and caring
He treated everyone the same
Elvis did not just change music he changed society and culture and at that time maybe still today some of people were not happy with those changes. From bringing people together and from removing borders. Elvis paid a high price for doing so ... great men always go the hard way but history shows that he is on the right side. ✌️
Very well said.
Agreed 150%!

@@crazy4corbinbleux We know a lot of people because of Elvis as we know Blackwell was one of the greatest R&B songwriters of all time. If Jackson was concerned about this, why didn't he help write a book about Blackwell as a black man? And for you, I can recommend fourteen sources for you to read about Blackwell, including Otis Blackwell - Biography".
He didnt change the black culture of the 50s..thats the truth
Unfortunately there are some people that don’t seem to realize or know that Elvis actually grew up within the black community. During a time of segregation he had black friends, neighbors and attended black church and black clubs. Yes, he was greatly influenced by the blues, gospel and black culture, dress and music. He also blew the racial doors open for black music and exposed it to the whites in mass. He faced attempts of the establishment to cancel him, having his records removed from machines, smashed and even banned, threats of violence to him and threats of arrest, yet he stayed the course. People like Muhammad Ali, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Jim Brown, B.B. King, and Sammy Davis Jr. who all knew Elvis Presley and were his friends all have spoken very highly of him and the person he was. Elvis Presley changed things, after Elvis black artists had more exposure to a wider multi racial audience and more radio airplay on white stations, this was all happening and set in motion before the civil rights movement and has been acknowledged by the Civil Rights Museum.
Well said! In fact Elvis is the first hero who actually broke the barrier between black and white race! He is truly a pioneer and genius in many categories in history!

if elvis was a racist.
he would have indicated long ago that he did not want to work with africans.
he had african background singers. he was in the picture with an african child with an african woman even with an african man.
elvis had even given his african cook a car and a house.
is that racist ?
i thought it wasn't.
elvis was way too good for the world .
with a golden heart .
i had read all of them and.
also seen them in pictures .
and on youtube.
elvis was a really sweet man.
that's why there is so much nostalgia for elvis.
Yup! He stuck up for the sweet inspirations many of times. Even got payback on a promoter who attempted to ban them. Bought an elderly black woman a stretch limo. It’s just a bunch of rubbish, people have been trying to smear his name for decades.
I really wish people would stop making something out of nothing. There's no way Elvis was racist.

I'm not even sure why this continues to be something that needs to be proven and defended. Are people really that easy to plant propaganda into? No wonder the world is what it is if people are nothing more than sheep who blindly follow others and believe whatever trash is fed to them. Look at a man's deeds and how he lived his life, that's the truth of who they are. Vicki

Ok Elvis did not steal music from black people. That is a lie told by people who choose to spread misinformation. Elvis opened the door for a lot of black musicians.
Elvis CREDITED EVERY SONGWRITER on EVERY SONG, on EACH ALBUM. EVERY SONG WRITER GOT PAID, and some paid really well (Little Richard. Otis Blackwell.) Yes -- Including the black song writers that sold their music to Elvis to perform. The truth? Elvis was a pioneer. One of the architects of Rock and Roll. He did not steal black music. The 1950s was an era of music and culture experimentation and many thousands of hours jamming melding of R&B, Gospel and Rockabilly. Elvis was a genuine part of this era and new sound. He was a pioneer. Not first. But still a pioneer.
In that era, it was an age of legendary song writers. Elvis performed 800 songs. He was a musician who played great rhythm guitar and piano and boy could HE SING. Legendary sought after rich baritone. ZERO of his works were stolen.
Legends such as Al Green, BB King, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Sammy Davis Jr, Chuck Berry and Little Richard roamed the Earth at the same time Elvis did and they all knew Elvis, loved him, and praised him very highly.
Elvis merged black and white music to help form Rock and Roll jolted a youth movement and civil rights movement to the forefront so both could succeed.
