  • Elvis was not Racist | Real facts about Elvis Presley
Check out this Elvis video next: 👉 • Elvis Presley
Elvis demonstrated his desire for racial reconciliation in the musicians he chose, and in the treatment they received. When he made his first appearance in texas at the Astrodome, according to Myrna Smith, Elvis was told, 'Well, you can leave the black girls home. You don't have to bring them'.
Myna Smith: Elvis responded with, 'Well if they don't come, I don't come'. But he was really upset about it. There was one person in particular who had sent the message. So when we got there, we were greeted by this little blonde in a convertible and she had to drive us around and she was his daughter. So Elvis always made sure he got even. I'm sure he said, 'And I want your daughter to drive them'.
The Sweet Inspirations met him when they arrived for the first rehearsals for the '69 engagement. The 'Sweets' worked with Elvis in Vegas, on his national concert tours and on recordings from 1969 to 1977. Myrna Smith also backed Elvis up during his 1976 Graceland recordings, both in February of that year and in the October/November sessions, resulting in two albums.

I don't think Elvis had black friends and fans.. Or loved black culture. Elvis had friends and fans, and loved all cultures. I don't think he looked at anyone and said, "he's black, or he's white." Elvis just saw human beings. And I think this is how it should be for everyone.

My theory is that because he was a southern white man, people assumed it was true. But we now have recorded proof that it was a lie. If people still believe that ugly rumor, they are ignorant. All they need to do is listen to the testimonies of black people who actually knew him. Estelle Brown, one of his back-up singers said he was an angel. James Brown referred to him as a soul brother. Muhammad Ali said Elvis was one of the sweetest people you could know. The list goes on. I am black and I believe the people who knew him personally. He loved everyone.

@@crazy4corbinbleuxWhy are you posting this BS? Otis Blackwell wrote songs for many artists. About writing for Elvis he declared in an 1957 article in Jet Magazine:
"I made a good deal. I made money. I'm happy."
Blackwell wrote over 1000 songs. In addition to the four songs he wrote for Elvis, he also wrote "Great Balls of fire" and " Breathless" for Jerry Lee Lewis, "Just Keep It Up" and "Hey little girl" for Dee Clark, "Handy Man" for Jimmy Jones.
Blackwell has been inducted in the Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame (1986), the National Academy of Popular Music's Songwriters Hall of Fame (1991) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2010)

Unfortunately there are some people that don’t seem to realize or know that Elvis actually grew up within the black community. During a time of segregation he had black friends, neighbors and attended black church and black clubs. Yes, he was greatly influenced by the blues, gospel and black culture, dress and music. He also blew the racial doors open for black music and exposed it to the whites in mass. He faced attempts of the establishment to cancel him, having his records removed from machines, smashed and even banned, threats of violence to him and threats of arrest, yet he stayed the course. People like Muhammad Ali, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Jim Brown, B.B. King, and Sammy Davis Jr. who all knew Elvis Presley and were his friends all have spoken very highly of him and the person he was. Elvis Presley changed things, after Elvis black artists had more exposure to a wider multi racial audience and more radio airplay on white stations, this was all happening and set in motion before the civil rights movement and has been acknowledged by the Civil Rights Museum.

And no one wrote about this man ever, they didn’t write one book about him at all. His songs were heard all over the world. And I met his daughter today, and I was so honored. Otis Blackwell wrote more than 1000 songs. He worked as a songwriter. About the four songs he wrote for Elvis, he declared in a 1957 Jetz Magazine article " I got a good deal. I made money. I'm happy".
Blackwell has been inducted in several Halls of Fame. I highly doubt he died penniless. If so, it certainly was not Elvis' fault.

Ok Elvis did not steal music from black people. That is a lie told by people who choose to spread misinformation. Elvis opened the door for a lot of black musicians.
Elvis CREDITED EVERY SONGWRITER on EVERY SONG, on EACH ALBUM. EVERY SONG WRITER GOT PAID, and some paid really well (Little Richard. Otis Blackwell.) Yes -- Including the black song writers that sold their music to Elvis to perform. The truth? Elvis was a pioneer. One of the architects of Rock and Roll. He did not steal black music. The 1950s was an era of music and culture experimentation and many thousands of hours jamming melding of R&B, Gospel and Rockabilly. Elvis was a genuine part of this era and new sound. He was a pioneer. Not first. But still a pioneer.
In that era, it was an age of legendary song writers. Elvis performed 800 songs. He was a musician who played great rhythm guitar and piano and boy could HE SING. Legendary sought after rich baritone. ZERO of his works were stolen.
Legends such as Al Green, BB King, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Sammy Davis Jr, Chuck Berry and Little Richard roamed the Earth at the same time Elvis did and they all knew Elvis, loved him, and praised him very highly.
Elvis merged black and white music to help form Rock and Roll jolted a youth movement and civil rights movement to the forefront so both could succeed.
