A true genuine friend always has your back - both in life and in death. Fantastic words from Mr Ali about Mr Presley, two legends who will never be replaced. Ali also said that Elvis was the nicest man you could ever want to meet. I'm sure Elvis would have said the same about Ali. Elvis was probably looking down smiling on Ali saying "Ali, thanks, man". RIP, Elvis and Ali. You two will never be forgotten.

My dad was a Muhammad Ali fan. I grew up watching his fights with my daddy.

I remember watching a video and one of the Mafia guys said “Elvis and Ali squared up to eachother and got into stance, Elvis then took Ali off his feet doing some sorta karate move. We all stood back in shock and looked at Ali, Ali laughed and got up and then we took a sigh of relief”

Fantastic video you put together Dave! I've seen these clips but love how you put them together. A lot of people don't realize the affection that Ali had in his heart for Elvis. Elvis related to everybody and I can't think of very many famous people that nobody ever had an unkind word said about them. Anybody that met Elvis, famous or ordinary always spoke highly of him.

When I was a kid in the 70s I always had it in my mind that Elvis was the heavy weight champion of music like Ali was the heavy weight champion of boxing...that’s in a child’s mind in the 70s. But it was true!!!

Elvis had everything. The greatest voice of all time. Elvis had a full vocal range of 3 octaves, could have sung as a baritone and also as a lyric tenor with a unique power in his voice. No one has sung in so many different genres. Elvis could sing the whole spectrum of all music styles. From Rock'n'Roll, Pop to Blues, Gospel and Country. He was the most charismatic and fascinating artist of all time.
No one, but no one is his equal or ever will be.

Friendship like the one of Muhammad Ali and Elvis are not to find these days
I'm 61, I met Ali as a teenager in a Philadelphia restaurant I was working in. He was with his manager having lunch. He was the nicest, soft spoken, polite person you could ever imagine. He was going to go to North Philly to Joe Frazier's Gym to talk to Joe. They really did not hate each other. Ali did a lot for kids. He had free summer camps to keep them off the streets. He may have run his mouth in the ring but in real life he was kind. I was a brown belt in karate (Kenpo) and he told me to stay in school and try for a college scholarship (which I got). I was just a busboy cleaning tables and he spoke to me like I was... well, better. (He also said he would never let his daughter box because its "a brutal art". Ali, and Elvis were my heroes. I was also writing music, playing guitar.

@Eren Danamjaya MJ was the second best. Mj had insane choreography, background, smoke etc backup dances that were amazing.
Where as Elvis shows up and just know how entertain by just by standing there making a funny face before singing and the girls went wild. Elvis knew how to make girls feel like they were in a relationship with him. he played, he moved and did movements with eye contact playfully..
As a young child I always watched his matches in the middle of the night because of the time difference here in the Netherlands. I am a huge fan of Ali. I did read a lot of books about him also. I admire him. More than just a fighter.
He was charismatic and I like that he stood up for his beliefs

Great stuff! I remember seeing a few other clips of Ali talking about Elvis. One was about Elvis spending time at Ali’s training camp in the 70s. Another was about a talk show host visiting Ali’s house and overhearing a phone conversation between Ali and Elvis. In that latter segment, Ali just jokingly said “nawhh man, that was some other guy”. Guess Ali just wanted to respect Elvis’ privacy, which I thought was really nice of him.

I don't know how I missed this video. The only two people Ive ever wanted to meet over everyone else! I Didn't get to meet Elvis but I met Ali in 1981 in Albuquerque Nm. Nicer than you could imagine ! Got to sit with him for lunch, he pretended he was gonna hit me, and gave me his autograph! Best afternoon ever! Really wish I could have met Elvis! 🥊🎸🙂

Stunned, but smiled to defuse the situation. A lot of elvis fans took up karate, inspired by elvis. Elvis was a tough dude. 6 feet tall and strong.
Though an unpopular opinion, one of the Colonels greatest ideas was to keep Elvis away from interviews and people like Johnny Carson. It would’ve been great for us, in the future, however at the time, it was key for Elvis to remain in the spot light, by ironically staying out of it.
Picture Elvis as the Sun. People love the Sun, claim they never not want to see it. But eventually if the Sun overstays it’s welcome and gets taken granted for, people wish for the rain. I’m sure people like Johnny would’ve payed top buck for Elvis to come on his show for even 5 minutes

This is so good to see, I’ve heard about it for decades, being an Ali fan as well glad they got along so well, remember that Elvis talked to everyone, the common layman had more interest to him due to his humble beginnings in Tupelo, another personal friend was Tom Jones, Tom has a whole chapter in his 2015 Autobiography “Over the Top and Back” on his special bond and friendship with Elvis, Elvis, Ali and Tom Jones were unforgettable artists, their legacy ensures their immortality.

Elvis spent two weeks at Ali's training camp in KY. Elvis knew about boxing. He was trained by a professional when making Kid Gallahad. His trainer said Elvis was a natural athlete and could be a good boxer..that he picked up skills quickly and was very quick. There is the time Elvis knocked Ali to the floor with one swift karate move..when they first met.
I heard about that. Can you imagine Elvis knocking Ali to the floor? Wow
@@ElvisistheMan_ He did it in one move and no more. Everybody who ever saw Elvis in real fights talked about how quick he was.DJ Fontana is on video discussig one of these fights. There is a video of one of his Mafia guys talking about Elvis putting Ali on the floor I think it was Alan Fortas..not certain. I always loved Ali, a great showman. Since I could not go to his fights, I listened to him on the radio. I recall viividly listening in my car one night to his fight in South Africa.I believe it was against Smoking Joe Frazier..not sure. Today, one of the patients I spoke with told me about seeing Elvis in 1955 before he got nationally big. He had his brown hair. He sang and danced and played the guitar. It was at a club in Nashville. She got close to the stage. She said he was the best looking thing she ever saw. She said his show was spectacular. This lady was 82 yrs old now and so fondly remembered that time seeing the great entertainer in his youth.
I heard Elvis stayed at the training camp in Deer lake Pennsylvania. An.nobody knew it
Ali's training camp wasn't in KY. It was and still is in Deer Lake, PA. My father took me there many times. I think you had to pay a buck or 2 to get in and you could watch Ali train and shadow box etc. I have tons of video footage that my dad took. I'm even on video shaking Ali's hand the day before he left to go to Zaire to fight Foreman. My dad got a pair of Ali's trunks and one of his jump ropes too!
