Bought a new 2005 Vision with the 460P Mack Asset engine...truck was awesome, engine was horrible. Mostly EGR problems....delaminating fan belts due to excessive underhood heat, failing sensors, egr valve sticking in position, variable vane turbo seizing. Most weird was the windshield washer fluid boiling in the reservoir and pushing fluid out the washer nozzles ! Mack "engineers" had to design a heat shield to solve that...backwards engineering. Good thing the truck came with a year of free towing...

Not sure why but an observation I've noticed is that the majority of tractors I see on the roads aren't macks. Idk why but I don't see a lot of them compared to KW, FL, PB, and Volvo. Those 4 truck manufacturers are the majority of the trucks I see on our roads n highways... Idk if macks cost more and carriers don't wanna pay for fleet loads of them when they can get cheaper rigs like freightliners or something. Idk, but it just doesn't seem like there aren't many macks on the roads.

That is why as a Canadian who has read about and admired all the long accomplishments of the United States it is painful to watch in the news the tremendous upheaval happening currently throughout the country. I have been reading about the US since I was a boy and am now in my seventies. Yes, I know that the American people as I have known them will prevail but 2020 will be remembered.

Back in the 1990's I use to drive and refuel the Mack trucks as the trucking company I worked for just loved Mack Trucks. Those Trucks pulled us out a rut. They were strong pulling trucks. The only drawbacks with the trucks is the turning radius, It's slow pickup speed getting through all the gears. It was a tough truck and the warranties were great. I'm sure Mack has made many improvements. I'd drive one again if I were still working and not retired.

I've been driving trucks for over 20 years, and nothing has left me on the side of the road waiting for help more then a Mack. It's really disappointing when you figure out that Mack trucks aren't really so popular because of the quality, but because they're cheaper then some of the other trucks. That should give you a hint right there, you get what you pay for.

Too bad they went so cheap on the new Anthem. I still love the Pinnacle 613s ... Vision style body trucks though 👍
Take that truck and get a better interior and you'd have something great... And dump that pos steering wheel

Miler beer was born in America but it is not owned by Americans.
But then Bud was born in Europe but most think is American even if it is not owned by Americans anymore.
You want to make the argument about Sikorsky helicopters? (Russian)

+DJPaulgee1 haha, Europe has and will always be ahead of America in Trains, cars and trucks. The most famous brand on earth is Scania for the simple reason, they are unrivalled in what they do. Mack is now Volvo's property.

Easy now! Volvo CARS has chinese owners (geely) since 2010 and that's the best thing that happened Volvo cars and they are still Swedish and will always be because as long as the headquarters, development, most manufacturng takes place in Sweden by Swedish designers and workers with Swedish material it's Swedish! Volvo was not american just because Ford owned them right? is Dodge italian because they're owned by fiat?NO! Volvo trucks, Volvo construction equipment and all other Volvo companies are still 100% Swedish, i'm Swedish and work at Volvo cars at Torslanda in Gothenburg.

I drove European trucks for 16 years before moving to America. In Europe i drove Scania, Man, Iveco and i always thought our European trucks are the best until i moved to the US and drove an American truck. American trucks are alot more comfortable, they're great in all climates especially desert heat. I would never want to go back to driving a European truck after trying out American. In Australia and Russia they love American trucks also, look at the Australian road trains, most of them are American trucks because they're tougher for desert coditions and more comfortable for the driver. Every single European that i met that has moved from Europe to US or Canada says they would never want to go back to a European truck after trying American trucks. European trucks are uncomortable you're sitting on top of the wheel the whole cab sways back and forth like crazy. The only reason Europe has cabover trucks is because of length restrictions, if our roads in Europe would be same as US or Canada or Australia we would be driving trucks like America builds, because drivers from all over the world prefer driving American trucks then European Cabover trucks. The first truck i drove in America was a 2004 Kenworth W900 with 3.8 million miles on it, on the same engine and transmission, and that's miles not kilometers, our European trucks would never last that long. Like every European always says "You haven't driven a real truck until you driven an American truck".
