- I've seen a lot of how to layer videos, but I feel like their mainly geared towards layering for the winter/cold weather. I've been trying to learn how to layer in general just to create cool & aesthetic outfits, so I thought I'd share some tips I've learned.
As always, thanks for watching!

ABOUT DRESSRELIEF
My name is Mariel, and I started getting into fashion in the past few years and am learning so much about it. I'm drawn to fashion as I believe it is an art form that not only allows individuals to express themselves but also creates a history and record of different time periods and generations. I've had a lot of fun learning how to put together outfits and use different styles to tell a story through the way I dress. I started this channel to share what I learn along my fashion journey and hopefully help others learn and find their style as well.
I post videos 1-2 times a week, mostly regarding fashion but may include a few beauty/makeup and lifestyle related videos as well. If you're interested in this content, please give my channel a shot and subscribe! - Jak na to + styl
This entire video is telling me that my dad is better at making outfits than I am 😭
I steal my dad's wardrobe because he's fashion icon and I'm just wannabe
FR G
HE LAYERS ALL HIS CLOTHING AND HE LOOKS BETTER THAN ME
You have a dad? Congrats, what’s that like?
@@0FF1C1ALKY0SH1
That was so out of nowhere💀
@@_TiredMotherfucker_ but I’m happy they have a dad :D
We often have so many clothes but not enough outfits (if it makes sense?) And this is such a cool way of maximising the number of fits you can create out of your existing clothing pieces,,, so thank you so much for this video!! It was really well explained and very creative!! 💗💗
I think you’d probably be interested in capsule wardrobes. You should check those out!
@@FernBlackwood1995 i was gonna say the same thing! basics are great
I regularly wear skirts over my jeans just to piss people off. I also look really good in them so that’s just a bonus
I dont getbthe hate with dress and jeans, amd skirt and jeans. Wear what you want tbh and dont let anybody kill you for it
I sweeaar i find it gorgeous but feel like people will hate it. This is a message for me to not care about it looking weird and just go for it!!!
@@BloomFTF I think it’s because of how Ashley Tisdale made the skirt over jeans look infamous in the 2000s. She actually did it terribly by over accessorizing with clashing pieces, but that doesn’t make the concept bad. If you haven’t seen her just look up Ashley Tisdale runway 2000s. It doesn’t look like how people style skirts and dresses over pants now in 2023, and even she’s roasted her old outfits.
Just a lil fashion tip for grunge fairycore/goblin earthy vibes is to like layer with big sweaters ( I wear my mum’s old sweaters and my dads sweaters & shirts) (one extra they’ve done with them! 😉) and thrifted necklaces look rlly cool as u are likely to find longer necklaces. Hope this helps!
Great tips, thank u!!
@@dressrelief ❤️
i'm saving all your videos for when i start to get into my style more, you and your videos are so appreciated and loved, thank you for your hard work !!
Thank you, glad i could help!!
Tip for the double belt!
If ur going out for an amount of time that u wouldn’t need to go to the bathroom, go for it. But if ur gonna be out for longer then just wear one belt, while maybe putting some chains or charms on it to recover the lost flare!!
Or if the belts are over skirts... just like lift up your skirt instead of undoing it and like dropping it to do your business.
Keeps the top tucked in, accessories in place. Also feels safer in sketchy bathrooms that might not be the cleanest
@@heyits_cat8966 ya, i dont wear skirts so i didnt think of that. most skirts i know of have pants attached now
@@mentallyy.sillyy I yeah! Only one skirt of mine has built I'm shorts (I have a lot of skirts) and I actually really hate it. But that's because I like to wear like biker shorts with pockets under everything, because they're longer, and pockets. So the little shorts attached go over the other shorts and cover the pocket opening :(
@@heyits_cat8966 makes sense
OMG the strings/ ribbons on the belt loops at 5:05 give me life, I'll definitely be doing that
Update, I bought white and black ribbon to do it and it's the cutest thing in the world and I usually tie a matching one on one earring 💅
layering just tickles my brain the best way possible
i love how dense with information this video is... definitely taking notes
Cute socks can be great too! You can get laced ones or knee high , they r great for adding to outfits with shorts or skirts !
that was the best layering vid I've ever watched. I've been a subscriber for a long time but never commented for whatever reason, just wanted to say I love your content and the hardworking that goes into your content
Thank you so much, i appreciate it! 🥰 i like those ideas too! Will add them to my list :)
@@dressrelief 🥰
matching the style, small thinner tops under, i ussually just wear the same palette so layering is easy forme, i love mesh or fishnet type stuff under any type of tops or bottoms, layer jewerly instead of just wearing 1
Yess great ideas for layering!
I feel like one really have to know your bodytype (like kibbe or anything alike and silhouette) because a person who is rather tall, has small shoulders, a long torso and little waist definition has to layer in another way than a very small, petite person who will be overwhelmed easily, or like I am, a rather small SN, broad shoulders and shorter legs (because I just look boxy REALLY fast)
That’s a good point! I’ve heard of kibbe and think it could be a good starting point to learn how to dress to flatter your body, but personally I’ve just learned through trial & error what works for me 😅
For Natural types (in Kibbe) I think we can play around with tops but the bottoms always need to be fitted. Not tight, but follow our natural lines.
I love how you talk with your hands. It really adds to your voice, explains what you're saying and holds attention more.
Also your nails are pretty ✨️
The pronunciation of aesthetic is generally æ, the same sound that is in the word "cat" or "tap", something in between "a" and "e" - from English major :D
Everything that comes up when i google it sounds more like ess-thetic tho? 😭
Excellent video with awesome suggestions!
So if you're really attached to your necklaces but you're wanting to experiment with changing the length, they do have a variety of necklace extenders, and it's not terribly difficult to make your own. I think just having the cording of your choice with lobster claws at either end would work pretty well, especially for aesthetics with more diy-type clothing and accessories.
Oh thats such a great idea!
i absolutely love leg warmers and arm warmers! they are so cute! i have a pair that i wear but it looks a little awkward on me because my calves are a little bit bigger than i like so it makes it look..bulging? anyways i don’t own one but i love like a sleeveless waistcoat or vest over a simple white button up shirt! it’s so cute!
The climate here in my country is not fit for layered clothing at all but still interested in the tips
I’ve recently started really getting into my style and trying to make it aesthetic and now that it’s cold I have some ideas for layering- so thanks for making this helpful video :D
Thank you so much! I’m finding my style at an affordable price and I needed a way to know how to utilize my clothing items properly
This is the first fashion video that I actually found useful thanks so much
Nothing to say just
THANK YOU
THANK!
YOU!
I've been trying to find ways to add more depth to my outfits since I always tend to wear the main pieces and a bag! Thanks for all the tips and ideas💕
Your eye makeup is soo good!
This outfit are so slay ✨
I love this sm I've been wanting to upgrade my wardrobe but I don't have money to buy a whole new wardrobe so I was looking for something like this thank you! It's super helpful!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this video!! I learned a lot!! I love layering clothes but sometimes i don't know how to do and this video explained well!
I'm going to try some tips right now, maybe buy leg warmers to put it with beige boots. I loved the way you explained some tips, this was easy to understand, even if english isn't my first language.
love love thiiis! super helpful bc sometimes i’m too in my head
Always love these videos and your understanding of fashion with different styles in mind
Thank you, glad you like them 🥰
this is so helpful and so well explained. you're amazing!
Aw thank you, glad it helped!!
I’m taking allllll the notes 📝📝
love this video!!
Thank you so much this video was so helpful ❤
Thank you so much for this! I have recently been thinking about studying fashion not just for me but for my characters too. I noticed that they look bland so I'm trying to better that and understand different styles. Not only that but it's also very fun to combine these different pieces of clothing together, so it's very interesting to hear about these. :3 ♡
Omg this is so helpful
I've also heard people pronounce it east-thetic, which etymologically I can get behind
This was so helpful!! Tysm
Glad it helped!
now all i need is clothes and i'll be set💀👍
I don’t recommend wearing mesh tops in summer if you sweat a lot, because it will get really uncomfortable
U are a life savior cause I honestly am confuse what accessories should i be buying
Can you make a video about pink alt or just alt aesthetic pls cause that’s my aesthetic and I want to learn how to make it better
Pls do more videos! ❤
Thank you for the video! I subbed :)
I srsly LOVE your videos they are really informative and entertaining they always give me more ideas to clothes to wear, but I was wondering can you make a video on how to dress well for overweight or curvy girls it would really be helpfull to know which kind of style or theme would fit on curvy girls that would make them look cute and pretty and hide some of their weight and all BTW keep up the good work 👏🥰🥰😇
Thank you!! Ah someone in another comment mentioned dressing for your body type & kibbe body types so maybe I’ll do a video on that!
a tip i have is to find your style first. Like for ex the cottage/weird core style has more random stuff like scarfs or jackets + random colors (mostly brown or green tinted). The coqquete style has more soft corset/sleeve focused layering. And the acubi style has more oversized (mostly black, white, off white, and blue) and heavy looking clothes (also i recommend getting arm warmers. they seem useless but fit almost every style, especially acubi)
leaving this timestamp here for myself bc scarves in certain ways r used in the type of fashion i wanna get into lol
6:15
Where did you get this shirt? So cute
I guess the first thing that stood out to me is that a lot of the layering was more suited to a warmer climate. I live in a climate that summer is like the only hot part of the year and the rest of the year it’s really cold. So I just want to ask how you would layer for warmth and do it ascetically? Because I would really like to know how to do that instead of just throwing as many layers on as I can.
Thats a good question! I’ll try to do a video on that as well :) disclaimer i am from a warmer climate so i will have to do some research/brainstorming. Off the top of my mind tho i think investing in really good underlayers/thermals will help a lot!
@@dressrelief I look forward to what to come up with! Yeah I definitely need to get more thermal wear, it’s a real lifesaver lol.
Same
I wanna layer so bad but I live in such a hot place
i personally pronounce it "ah-eh-sthetic". If i say it fast enough it sounds really bougie.
I layer like a toddler making cake
I clicked on this thinking the title was "how to lawyer ~ aesthetically"
what we called for that fashion outfit or style or looks?
you need to tell me where you shop I've been trying to update my style and aesthetic and I think your the channel for it
I actually thrift/buy secondhand a lot which definitely takes some time but you can find a lot of cool and unique things! But if there’s a specific aesthetic you’re interested in, check out my “how to build an aesthetic wardrobe” playlist ! I talk about places to shop in most of those videos
@@dressrelief ok thank you
I don't pronounce is ass-thetic or es-thetic I say it like uh-sthetic
Where can you find stuff to layer with? 😊
I say "uh- stetic" 😂
I like to take a t-shirt with shorter sleeves and put a t-shirt thats a little bigger under and roll the bigger shirts sleeves slightly over the top shirt
what's the name of the aesthetic of the thumbnail pics
Why are you and what you suggest styled like My Culture and Cultural Heritage and How we grew up ?
æsthetic
I am not English, i try to pronounce "ae" with relaxed and a little closed mouth and "a" with a more wide open mouth, is that correct? Cause it it is not, I have no idea how to say men and man defferently for example
It's an æ sound, the same sound as in "cat" or "tap"
I love Uzumaki
1:14, 1:21, 3:20
Can I ask if this is appropriate for a 21-22 year old 😅
Ofc! You can wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident 🥰
in french we say ass-tay-tick lol
I feel like I would have a rlly nice style but I don't have enough moneybto dress how I want😢
shout out to rui
it's eh-sthetic not ass-sthetic
i need a herminone meets elle woods deep fake of this quote
It's actually æstetic, the sound you make when you say "cat" or "tap", not completely e or a
@@cyansalvatore6011idk about you but i pronounce the a in ass and cat the same way
No no no no no no no no no no no no no no it’ll only look good on a nice body which I don’t have so imma look mad stupid
I am the eighties nineties generation
VVhy are you styled like edit: *u*s and how we grew up, that you have nothing to do with ?
Can’t blame people for pronouncing Aesthetic the way they do when the word literally starts with the letter “A”. English is just a dumb language
i wear tons of bracelets to hide my skinny ass wrists
