the Cavs were in desperation mode, they got hot, played for each other, and stayed close pretty much all game. Boston's lockdown D worked as well as possible when you factor in how much the Cavs needed the win and how well they pressured the Celtics. the Cs won by stopping runs, and making enough good/great shots down the stretch to keep the game under their control. this was the toughest W yet.
all the other series are tied at 2-2 - the West looks like both series could go all 7 games; that said, the champs have *finally* come to play and 4 straight wins seems well within Denver's capabilities, while the Wolves seem very capable of making a come back - in the East, the Knicks are hobbled but still fighting, while the Pacers finally started running like they did before the All-Star break - only the Celtics have found an edge after 4 games.

in defense of MAzulla, Celtics ISO ball has decreased. The addition of White, Holiday, and Porzingis helps to limit the ISO stagnation.

I agree with Chuck on this 1. They look unbeatable when they're cutting, rotating and moving the ball. They play the 1 on 1, drive and kick out, high screens but at a slow pace. If they move the ball more and rotate with speed, Nobody stopping them
A healthy Cavs and Celtics would have gone to game 7, at which point anyone could have won. Cavs missing multiple parts of their team throughout. Celtics missing the mighty KP. The series that never was.

Celtics shot almost 50% and dominated on the boards, but the Cavs were playing at full speed and just took way more shots. It was a great effort, but the Celtics depth makes it like they're playing six-on-four. And the refs pissed Tatum off, and he took it out on the Cavs.
Celtics ball movement is one of the best in the league. But sometimes, they let JT and JB attack the opponent all night long. If it works, why not? It's all about the adjustment and keeping your opponent on their heels. Do whatever it takes to win.
Also: If horford hits his WIDE OPEN threes that’s like 4 more assists and the game isn’t close.
Yeah, the offense gets slow in the final quarter, but I watched Denver do the same thing managing a lead. Not sure how “free” they should be playing sometimes. 10 TO in the first half, 4 in the second.

I've been saying all year what Chuck just said about the Celtics not passing the ball. (I'm a Celtics fan, and know that most Celtic fans don't want to admit this.) Particularly, I point the finger directly at *Tatum and Brown.* They view themselves as team leaders, but believe that means they have to play hero ball. That kind of play stagnates the rest of the team, and their offense in general. It's frustrating as hell to watch, because I know so many of their teammates know how to move the ball well ( Porziņģis, White, Holiday, Horford, Pritchard, Hauser, Kornet...)
He didn't say the full story though, the Celtics offense is predicated on hunting mismatches and there's nothing wrong with that when you look at their offensive rating throughout the season. Also to get assists, players have to hit shots and without Porzingas, Horford just isn't hitting shots, White is in a drought, Jrue previously wasn't scoring much, it makes the offense look worse than it is. I got really tired of seeing the ball swung around to an open Horford/White just to see the shot brick constantly. The Cs run isos to get mismatches, to draw double teams for kickouts, get deep position post ups, etc, isos aren't inherently bad.
This is why porzingis is there because he makes us play inside out with mismatches and we run pick and roll plays with him. Can’t do that with Al so much him coming back will fix everything
I disagree as a Celtic fan we have great ball movement ( why you think we blow so many teams out ) JT been making good reads on double teams & JB don’t need to pass just keep attacking

I mean I disagree a lot as a Cs fan. We were 14th in the league in assists in the regular season and currently 10th out of 16 playoff teams in assists which seems bad, but is only 4 assists away from the Nuggets who are in 2nd. The Cs are also the 3rd best team when it comes to turnovers, which everyone loves to associate when it comes to the Celtics. While yes, it can look stagnant, doesn’t really showcase what they truly to do on a regular basis. Like the guy above me said, they search matchups a lot, and which is why they traded for Porzingus.

WTF are these guys talking about? I thought this game was one of the Celtics better games even with the turnovers in the first half - because they adjusted and came back to win even with some lead changes, the Cavs shooting the lights out of 3's in the first half, Boston was showing some fire and resilience. Boston is 7 and 2 in the playoffs, has a + 12.3 net rating - all dominant. Their offense isn't dynamic? How are they #2 in PPG in the league this year? How did they get a record of 64-18? You can't do that without a dynamic offense. It's like nobody watches the Celtics. And even when they win, they lost.

Chuck crystallized what every C's fan has observed since the beginning of the Tatum-Brown era: every time we lose it's because of an overabundance of 1-on-1 hero ball. Things have certainly improved since Tatum/Brown have grown as playmakers, and certainly running the offense through KP has helped with ball movement, but old habits are hard to break.
