    Very nice! Also impressed with DTG, they've done a great job of that. I was watching a chap the other day on CZcams with his head inside of a Rio Grande engine with the doors wide open and was wondering what he was doing in there. Now I know, he was cranking his govenor.

    Great, I was desperately looking for a cold and dark start tutorial for the SD40-2 (TSW 3, on foot in the Training Center). All the SD40-2 training videos which I found start with the engine already running (seen on the exhaust smoke on the roof).
    But there is still one question left to me. I wonder if there is any kind of AUTO /SMART engine start option. On the panel above and out side there a big notes as "Warning - Autos start eqipped" and other "smart start operation - Autostart switch must be "ON". In the panel above the fuse panel (left to the isolation sw) there is a green push button "ENGINE START". Does it mean there is a smart engine start option, which means no priming and engine start outside? Maybe it's not functional, is it?

      Interesting , answer to your question I don't know, part of this game is finding and learning all this stuff as the game lacks good instructions however it is getting slightly better tutorials nowadays maybe once the engine is primed you can stop and start the engine using autostart ? Well noticed I personally have never paid much attention to this but I will check it out now .

    What you showed in the video, is it the same when braking is put into emergency braking? I did that by mistake last night and what I tried never worked, I couldn't get the Loco going again.

    • @wobblycaptain
      @wobblycaptain  Před rokem

      So you put the emergency brake on by mistake ? If so you need to reset the brakes I think .Did you try setting the throttle back to Idle them set the reverser to neutral put the Independent brake to full service then set the automatic brake to emergency you might have to release then put in emergency brake wait a while maybe 60 seconds then release the automatic brake and wait for the brake pipe to return to 90psi ish replenish you should be good to go I think lol that's just off the top of my head

      @@wobblycaptain I did try some of that, but I sure will try it again and see what happens, I was doing (trying to) Barstow-Away and when backing in the train cars I got it going too fast and panicked :)) and well a N00b move. Thanks for the info ...

      There's a switch in the SD40-2 on the automatic brake regulator, sets it to 'cut off', 'passenger', 'freight'. Release your automatic brake entirely, set the independent brake. Flick the switch from whatever you're using to 'cut off', wait a couple seconds, then flick it back. Took me awhile to figure that out, and I didn't do it on my own 🙄
