- There have been some rumblings that Patrik Laine could possibly return to Winnipeg via trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Could Laine really return home?

I would absolutely love to see him back.
With Wheels gone and Ehlers with a foot out the door, I guess this could make sense. I can say that my son still has his Laine poster on his wall!
I honestly think Patrick has had a reality check and now realizes how good he had it in Winnipeg.
I believe he had advisors filling his head with how great he was and not teaching him any humility.

That would be one of the best stories ever if you returned it’s clearly evident that Winnipeg was the best place for him.
Especially when we got vilardi and Cavallo out of the deal.Laine did well in Winnipeg and gets to reunite with Ehlers.

I mean no one is pretending Blake Wheeler wasn’t a complete a-hole anymore. Could happen.
Columbus would need to include another player if you’re taking 7!years of Severson.and take Pionk or Schmidt back.
The Jets have a habit of bringing back players they like who have left the team,
like Appleton, and Brossoit. If they believe in a guy, they will bring him back. I
think Laine will come back a more humble player, and not think of himself as the
superstar he once thought he was. If he does come back - Ehlers likely resigns,
as their good friends. May or may not work out - I'm sort of 50 - 50 on Laine, as
he was so bad defensively when he was with the Jets. Maybe he's improved, and
he has the ability to be a top sniper in the league and score 50 goals. Something
to think about.Could work out, and dump Pionks contract at the same time.
I would do that trade, would probably actually fix our power play lol

Agree. I know there might be smoke to the fire but why is Rutger so much in the trade conversation right now? He’s actually the one guy everyone’s asking from the Jets and if he’s that valuable for a trade I don’t think thats Laine.

Regardless whether any type of deal could be made like this or not, Jets should still send McGroarty and his ego packing. Jets don't need a player with a M. Marner or E.Kane like attitude. No matter how much upside (or success) a player has, he still needs to fit into (and not create havoc) in a team's dressing room.
As for Patty coming back. He's surely be welcomed back with open arms by most fans.

He should be healed up all ways possible and ready to light that lamp at a 50 goal pace with Perfetti dishing. 🎉 Severson sounds great as a playoff style Dman.
I think he was traded because of the Cancer in the locker room, which now that Wheeler is gone maybe it could work out.

I think when Lanie went to Columbus he didn’t have a Ehlers. Columbus did try to find someone who plays like Ehlers like Johnny Gaudreau, but he didn’t play exactly like Ehlers. If Chevy does trade for Lanie reunion with Ehlers, the Jets 1st or 2rd line will be fun to watch.
Yes he would be great ? He;s a point per game player who gotten up to 44 goals in a 19 year old Laine plays better defensivly now? Never get a player with more goal scoring potential than Patrick Laine Huge trade proposal?
Why would the Jets need to add more. They are sending the exciting prospect. Laine is a cap dump+ he doesn’t want to play there anymore. You need to CLB to add a young asset to make us take that cap hit for two years.
And Laine is injury prone now, still somewhat one dimensional and is coming out of the program. All the risk on the Jets side

They didn't specifically say Patrik is linked in those trade talks. I think if anything the Jets would trade Rutger and some sort of other asset for Zack Werenski. The Jets need defense.

IF Patrick can get away from the injury bug. IF Columbus retains minimum $3m salary. IF Winnipeg keeps Ehlers (Laine and Ehlers are BFF's) and IF the Jets pair Ehlers and Laine with a top center, preferably Monahan, then I would love this trade. Bringing Laine back may also encourage Ehlers to want to stay. And to all the idiots who continue to refer to him as a one trick pony, you obviously haven't been paying attention or don't really know Hockey.
I think fetts could slide into that 2C role, he wants to play his natural position, give him a shot. With those 2 wingers and fetts vision, that line could be very dynamic

Don't take that too seriously but it's kinda accurate. 100% serious, getting him back would set the Jets back a few years. I'm more worried about our defence more than offence.

Pionk is extremely valuable. If they traded him for Laine, Rutgar couldn't be part of that package. The Jets have a surplus of forwards, not D. They already bought out Schmitt which was stupid. Schmitt's crime is he has a personality. But as for Laine, Ehlers for Laine would be fine in my books. I'm an Ehlers fan, but he clearly needs to fly.
Lambert,Heinola,Lambert would be sick to have on the big club

Trading Mcgroarty+ for Laine and
Maybe a Perfetti/Lucius deal for Kadri would make us alot better. And still give us options of moving Iafallo,Pionk,Stanley,Ford,Ehlers.
And Ehlers might stay if he has Kadri/Laine play with again.

Agreed, they should stay away from a player who is selfish and injury prone, with a ridiculous salary considering he only has one "pretty good" NHL season on his resume. If anything the Jets want a right shot second pairing D or a backup goalie.
