Great tip Aaron👍. You could make one of those 2 wires maybe 3 feet long with a switch in the middle of one to activate it to close or open . Luckily, my top is rarely used so it still works ok🙏. Hope you are able to fix it.

You are awesome, I got home late this evening and after trying to lift the top up with no sign of life out of the blue, I believe my switch inside the emergency brake somehow stopped working because I’m not also getting the light on the dash but I wasn’t going to take it apart in the middle of the night so I started looking and I stumbled on your informative video, I like it because you got right to the point without saying things over and over like a lot of people do, a 5 minute video they turn it in to a 30 minute useless video, I really appreciate you taking the time to do this amazing videos, if you ever in Florida hit me up and will talk about cars with a nice cold beverage. Thank you so much

Hey Aaron, ran into an issue with my top a few weeks ago on my 97 where the top would alternate between opening and closing in the middle of the cycle without fully doing either.Turns out the clamshell latch sensor needs replacing, but flipping the plastic arm a few times reset it for me, and allowed the top to function normally. Hopefully this is helpful! My box is a basket case but I still love it!

Is the "end of opening" sensor is still active in this case or can it harm something if you try to fully open it up this way ?

    • @HelpMeDIY

@@HelpMeDIY well it a long story but first let me say that I has to do something similar to an old Volvo fuel pump relay to get me home, but in other news my wife and I went to Sweden to visit grandchildren. Saw them early in the trip then drove across Denmark, northern Germany, Holland Belgium And France to Paris…then returned three weeks later, saw the kids again then flew home. I strongly recommend at least one driving trip in Europe where driving is a choice and a privilege not a competition. Thank you for your thought. I’ll try to be a more regular poster…
