- The Plains bison's (Bison bison bison) struggle back from the edge of extinction is one of the great stories in North American conservation history. This video features the central role Parks Canada has and continues to play in the restoration of Plains bison to its native range in several National Parks.

Living in northern Montana and I just love to pass a hillside or a wide open field of Bison running around or simply watching out toward the sunlight so full and fresh as our big skies are. Love ❤️ my home.
Are they really loud when they run? Asking in Ottawa. No Buffaloes here.
I'm so looking forward to bison coming back to Banff! I probably won't be able to see them, but just knowing they will be there is fantastic!
You won't have to see 'em. You'll be able to SMELL them from miles away!
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to uncover healthiest survival food try Proutklarton Helping Firestarter Plan (do a google search )?
It is a good one off guide for learning how to get by in a disaster and create your own survival food without the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my neighbor got excellent success with it.
Brilliant news for Canada
Great job Parks Canada!
It's sad to visit the buffalo hunting site in Sibbald Creek Trail where hundreds of thousands of bison were killed in the early time. It's good to know that bison are now protected and in progress of the restoration.
That exact picture at the 1:28 mark with the wolf skins was part of my grade 4 social studies lesson in 1983. They used wolf skins to get up close because buffalo didn't fear animals that were smaller than them.
Bisons are back 🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂

I hope they can bring them back it is amazing to see a Bison in person truly one of nature's wonders, I am glad that at least in this Canada & the United States can work together.
Some some wild bison on my ski trip yesterday in Blackfoot Cooking Lake Provincial Recreation Area.
So sad... i love bison... such a graceful animal
They are so freakin beautiful
Freakin huge!
Freakin
The main reason for the near extinction of this magnificent animal was cultural assassination, as bison were the main source of protein for most of the first nations west of the Mississippi.
The advent of the Railway facilitated the slaughter with the blessing of the US Government, which sought to force natives on to reservations, thus ensuring the end of their way of life.
Very educative. Thanks for uploading.
canadaameen it's a crock of shit. The white man purposely slaughtered them because they wanted Indians out, Indians depended on bison, do the math.
Cool video! I like observing nature, discover and decompress...
Banff is a wonderful place and the presence of Bison would only add to the Beauty there . What a wonderful animal , still here ! good !

species such as the longhorned bison and steppe bison
how about the Flying Bison. at one time they would fly from Mexicp to the mission San Jaun Banif..

14,500 Views as of January 14, 2018. CoryTheRaven if you can't make it to Banff, I encourage you to visit Elk Island Park in a "off season" period with less people. On My first entry into the park about 1983 / 87 there was a welcoming crowd something like this www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/ab/elkisland/activ/activ19. I wondering at the time if we would be allowed to continue with our plans to stay a week. Unfortunately it appears the park has been infested by too much human intervention for my liking.
Great!! I have a suggestion. In the jungles of Mysore in Southern India live the species of wild bison called the Gaur. It is the largest buffalo of its kind anywhere. Sadly due to loss of habitat and urban pressures, its numbers have dwindled greatly, and although there are efforts underfoot to save it from extinction, it would be great if the Canadian authorities could import some breeding pairs to introduce them into the wild there. As it is a kind of buffalo, it will not pose a threat to the local population of the wild bison being nurtured there. This will not only provide a sanctuary to the Gaur, it will diversity the wild life of Canadian wild life habitats. The species will also have an increased chance of surviving, not just in India, but also in Canada. Many other species of ungulates such as the Chinkara, the Cheetal and the Black Buck from India can similarly be introduced in Canada and North America.
The thing is Canada is too cold for Gaur, bison can easily live in -40C but I don't think Gaur could live in such cold weather.
Introducing foreign species into an environment that is absolutely NOT suited for them would be the worst possible thing to do. In case you hadn't heard it's REALLY cold in Canada. Instead of shipping the problem to the other side of the world India needs to reduce it's population drastically so that people will stop encroaching on the last few wild areas you have left.
@@dumoulin11 okay but ow are they gonna reduce there population tho
@@dumoulin11 Do not be condescending, if you are a north american, you do not have a leg to stand on. You have not only destroyed american indigenous wild life, fauna and flora, you have almost completely got rid all native Americans.
India has its wild life in much better state than North America.
We have our Gaur, tigers, lions, jaguars, elephants and rhinos.
Indigenous Indian culture is not Abrahamic.
Indian culture does not believe that only humans have soul. It believes that every living organism has a soul.
So, we respect all life.
No we are not Pro-life idiots like US supreme court judges. Abortion is a woman's choice here.

Bison is also delicious and better for you then beef.
and protected
@@domenicocarullo493 and some stock are bred and raised on farms. Just about anyone in Canada can buy bison meat - a bit on the expensive side and not from the local grocery store but my small town has it at a specialty meat store.
What happens if you snuggle one?
