The guitar tone on this album is just perfect.
Hell yeah man, I just ordered a new Mesa boogie mark V yesterday so I can get the Mark IIC+ amplifier sound that was on this album
Drums too
Charles Hendrix bass too.
@@martinvarasrojas3566 what bass?
Dark Magician the bass
"Halls of justice painted green money talking" so true . one of my all time favorite songs
Power wolves at your door, hear them stalking
My favorite album of all time. From Blackened to Dyers Eve, grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. Hetfield is the best down picking rhythm guitar player, period new paragraph. Many of the songs he writes are what I call 5 part; intro, beginning, middle, end, outro and he does it to perfection.
1000% agreed! Its like they KNEW they were about to go radio as shit and just decided "Fuck it... everyone is gonna think we suck by comparison to THIS... So let's KILL it!!"
This album is (imo) the peak of Metallica composition. Every single song practically has movements. They took the time to develop musical themes, and then explore them through variation. These are not just songs to fill air time on the radio. These are works of art. Just listen to that recapitulation back to the original theme after the solo. That's classical composition. It's not quite that sophisticated, but honestly a hell of a lot more sophisticated than most rock bands.
8:12 “what is this” *headbangs anyways* lmao that my reaction also
Please react to the live version of this song from the concert in Seattle 1989. The stage performance, the ferocity and the unexpected ending of the song/performance is epic and mindblowing 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
best if he watches the entire concert in Seattle 89
@Alien Alien True fans of Metallica
Definitely another masterpiece. The tempo changes, the softness, aggression, the drum changes in beats and tempo, just a magnificent song all around. One of Metallicas best works of art. Cool reaction Dave. 🔥🔥
Metallica is a worldwide organization with an office in every country. Their wealth, status, influence is cosmic.
They are....Damage Incorporated
Very aggressive album. Every song is legendary on that album
this was the "sellout" album to the old timers. like me. i appreciate it now, but it was not like lightening or puppets.
@@zeller3228 ride the lightning was a 'sellout' album for having an acoustic guitar ballad on it. kill 'em all was a 'sellout' album for signing to a major record label
"A sense of duality"
I love that description.
This has been my favorite song to work out to forever🥰
I do not understand why other reactors are not reacting to this song?
This is one of the best songs off of this album!
...And Justice For All 🗽⚖️
This song is about how WE ALL get done wrong by this corrupt justice system!
The "tightness" of the main riff is partially due to the drummer accenting the riff with the toms in unison, then at the end it's sounds looser because the drums just play a straight beat under the riff, which opens up the sound more and makes room for the harmony guitars on top. Just masterful arranging from a group of guys in their mid twenties...🤘
Dude you really hit the nail on the head around 5:30 ish when you said there was a kind of, like, calm angry energy coming through in this song. I would call it righteous anger, because it's anger at directed unfair and unjust system of "justice"
The whole album kinda has a a sort of anti-establishment theme to it; Blackened talks about MAD and how it can only end in the destruction of the earth. Eye of the Beholder is about the control of freedom of expression by politicians. The Shortest Straw is about suppressing and demonizing certain political schools of thought. One is based on an anti-war book called Johnny Got His Gun.
Even the songs that aren't explicitly political, like Dyers Eve or Harvester of Sorrow (which talk about parenting issues like child abuse and sheltering your child from the real world) can be interpreted as being about government and politics if you choose to take it that way.
You've inspired me to listen through this entire album again with the lyrics in front of me.
A song so heavy even the camera was head banging :)
I love that you got that headbangin stank face in the same spots that have made me go RAWR since i was 13 :)
This song is simply perfect at so many levels!!
If you haven't already, you should check out "Eye of the Beholder". Lyrics are ON POINT!
The duality symbolism in the beginning is very accurate
Finally someone who really pay attention to the lyrics and more important to the music...... Good videos, keep them coming
Btw, it's very unique to see a person react to Metallica, or perhaps most bands, starting from their earlier material as compared to usual hit songs. Kudos for that.
One word sums this song up for me, and always has since I bought this album in 1988!! "HEAVY!!"
Those solid power cords that follow that riff are fire. 12:34
Metallica is the all-time king of intros. Nobody comes close
💯 facts
Funny how this song from '88 is so relevant today.
Al Pacino should sing this song because the movie and this track really go hand and hand and I love it
I never clicked faster
This is my fav Metallica song of all time
Hi. I've got a Metallca tattoo. I know you don't care. I love your reaction channel. You have good taste in music.
Of course I care. Thats awesome!
Great Reaction! Love this song.!
This whole album start to finish is bleeding with emotion
Metallica are a perfect combination of early Black Sabbath and punk rock. Masterful transitions, insane riffs, fast, bass heavy, and music that perfectly captures the meaning of the lyrics. IDK of any other band that has done it better than them in their first four albums.
He really likes all the comments😂
What a legend
I sure do!
My fave off this album is Eye Of The Beholder, To Live Is To Die or Blackened but I love all of Metallica. (I simp for Kirk Hammett) 😂🤫🤫
You are the best reactor to metallica ! Thanks
Such an amazing album! Great reaction!
Metallica - Halo on Fire (official music video) ... trust me on that :)
My number 1 Metallica song🤘
4/4 - 2/4
4/4 - 4/4
The foundation of the song.
this was the album that forever changed them.
My favorite album of theirs. This or the Black album.
Should cover some country music too.
Can I suggest, Waylon Jennings I have always been Crazy. Chris Stapleton Tennessee Whiskey,
Best song they ever recorded.
for fun, you should check out the live set from the Live Sh*t Binge and Purge tour, in particular, this song.
Dude great observation the looseness was justice falling apart musically the statue ‘Doris’ comes down on stage pretty sweet LiVE see if you can find binge n purge on CZcams
The scooped mids tone of this album is amazing. It’s terrible in a live setting because you can’t cut through, but for an album where you can really tweak the mix, it’s a really heavy ass tone that’s in your face with a wall of sound. It’s too bad that the actual bass is really just the guitars, they turned the bass virtually off on this album out of not only grief from cliffs death but also from a lack of confidence in Jason’s ability (which was unfounded, Jason is an amazing bassist, just very different from Cliff and Rob).
The song is essentially about our corrupt justice system, still very relevant today. Money is everything, poor people sit in jail, rich people walk.
so if you didn't know this song is about a soldier whose body is terribly damaged by a landmine that he steps on losing his arms legs sight and hearing IM NOT JOKING. Any time i hear this song i cry because knowing that my dad was a soldier and that could of happened to him its just terrifying.
That’s their song, One, not AJFA.
Of Wolf & Man (Black Album).................. you must do this, you know it
Lo mejor de MetallicA junto a One, Master Of Puppets, Orion, y Creeping Death🤘🏻🇺🇾
YEAH MAN
FUCK YEAAAH!!
The songs about the corrupt system of America’s government ironically goes great with whats happening rn
Indeed, but the lyrics of this song can be applied to any political party for all time (I assume your talking about the democrats stealing the election and destroying people like mines livelyhood, but maybe not). Just like master of puppets... there will always be drugs, and there will always be corrupt politicians.
@@liarliarpumpkineater4808 yeah it's always interesting trying to guess which side that comments like those are speaking from
Please do El Creepo - Arabian Rose, underrated but epic, thanks for this BTW, my fave song by Metallica fuck yeah
The album cover is sick
....and justice for all has got to be the most "thrash" sounding album, other than kill 'em all. jasons bass influance made things alot more gnarly than youd think, but looking at the new albums the bass is missing hardcore
He also wrote the main riff to Blackened
Idk this album is heavy af
there is no bass on this album. Master is their peak. Never the same after Cliff.
Thrash? I mean this albums got a lot of progressive time signatures in it, which is definitely for thrash, especially the time this came out. They even added power metal harmonies in this song. Album was experimental and they never come back to it ever again.
Remember to watch the lyric videos 🤘🏼
If I die to music please let it be metallica
time is the enemy. and father death. which is time.... a circle... not my fault!
You ain't uploading beatbox homie??
So different name another beat even close to that so brutal
You used the word aggression. I get more of a sense of quiet desperation and barely restrained frustration. Indeed the whole album is one of unfocused anger and depression. It makes the entire album brilliant. This song in particular is the perfect example. The intro and break down guitar melody is almost a parody. Fake Grandeur and arrogant pomposity gradually dying under its own weight as it hits the wall of harsh guitar tone
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Everybody hates Lars, but man he's an awesome drummer.
There best album my opinion
This album was a lot of their being technical just for technicality’s sake, showing what they could do. It’s great but the production is lacking, specifically bass
@And Justice for All, B- but no bass. amirite?
This and live is to die are at my bottom list of AJAf
Do you really not know of the scales of justice?
Someone explain to me the phenomenon of 'reaction videos' as I don't get it. Non productive self-indulgent monetary edeavour - that's what it stands for me.
Some people enjoy watching others experience music they like for the first time. Sounds like you don’t like that. I love watching people enjoy music I like for the first time.
@@whatitdodave I appreciate the time you devoted to answering my contestant comment. I recognize the argument you make about people liking what you do but still, I don't see value of it. People tend to indulge themselves in the least valuable behaviours (e.g. pornography) so it doesn't stand as an argument itself - it's not enough to say that people like it. Not for me. The phenomenon started about five years ago, when people started posting their reaction-videos to the 'Force Awakens" trailer. I see the entrepreneurship aspect of it but I call into question that it stands for anything but self-indulgence.
No one is forcing you to watch man. I happen to love your reactions Dave... Keep Rocking my man 🤘
