    honestly i believe the lowering of the trac bar is not to make it straighter, which yes it does help, but in actuality its to compensate for raising the trac bar. It corrects the steering geometry and puts the trac bar and the drag link back in line. great video like always. keep up the good work.

    That mis-alignment spacer on the bottom at the pitman arm looks to be upside down. You want the less diameter side of the spacer to press against the heim and the larger diameter side to be pressing against the surface of the castle nut, since there is no washer. The less diameter against the heim provides the ample room for angularity of the heim.

    With the tapered-insert, hammer it home and if any of the insert is showing, grind smooth.

    I dont see how using the existing track bar upper mount & drilling through thin sheet metal on the passenger side makes this a good solution.

    Heim joints I will tell you in a few thousand miles you will change your mind about those for a highway vehicle
    Ball joints with those parts would be great or even Johnny joints something grease able and quite
    I’d say your friends can hear you coming about now
    But WJs are great
    Only thing I’ve done to mine so far is make some Coustom rock slides and 3.5” lift with BDS coils and Bilstine 5100 shocks
    And next will be new front bumper and winch or core link kit

    You should only use one tape measure. The reason for this is different tape measures will pull different measurements slightly or if you have a bend in the tip of the tape measure which could throw your measurements slightly off. Nice job Robbie keep up the good work.😎👍

    Great video, Liked it a lot, but can you tell me what it the part# for that complete kit? I would do the same on my 2000 WJ with 6.5" lift.

    Great job. Would you recommend this project to others? Haven't seen any videos for a long time. Did you take it off-road? How are the on-road manners Thanks

      @MuddyBeards4X4  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I really like it so far. On and offroad it performs well. Everything is still tight and doesn't make a bunch of noise which I was worried about with the heim joints

  • @Papa__Squatch
    @Papa__Squatch Před rokem

    Brother, this is a great install. I’ve been trying to land on something like this for my 99 with a 4” lift. I’ve just got some sloppiness in my steering and a lil bump steer. How does it feel on road with daily driving? I’m probably 80% road and 20% trails but I want something beefier. Looks like those joints are solid! Thanks for any info. Also if you don’t mind, what is this wheel setup specs? Great rig.

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  Před rokem +1

      I still really like it. Steering is much more solid. The joints are small, which is prob fine for anything I'll be doing and as with all heim joints they are sqeaky. Long dirt roads this summer has them making noise. I see IRO now has a one ton tie rod option you could look at too. I honestly might have gotten it if it was available. Still i know this steering will be great for a long time. The wheels are a 17 by 8.5 knp from kansei wheels. They are awesome! kanseiwheels.com/products/kansei-knp-truck-textured-bronze

      Broooo! I have a 99 limited with the 4.7 and it has a 3 inch lift and i t has bump steer and sloppiness as well. I'm new to suspension geometry and knowledge on that but I've damn near rebuilt this jeep otherwise. Even welded on custom wide body fenders and soon rockers. So besides this being noisy this really worked on tightening sloppiness in steering and bump steer?

      Do you have the v8 ? I want to do a 4” lift on my 99 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo. this is my first time so I’m very lost. Also the lift is mostly for looks, And some possible off-road stuff.

    How do you grease the joints? zerks?

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  Před 7 měsíci

      Heim joints are not greased. They have a Teflon coating that helps lubricate and I have used lithium spray on them. But don't put any sticky grease on them because it will attract dirt and ruin the joint
