Just to make sure it's clear, Atari is NOT buying the Amico Console or Amico Home. They are only buying the brand and the Intellvision game library that Not Intellivision Entertainment still owned.

So to recap: IE couldn't deliver a console, had to sell off their "killer apps" to a company who eliminated their exclusive status, and now they've had to sell off the whole brand to the very company IE's former CEO spent years mocking and disparaging. In my mind, a great wrong has been righted. Tommy, Phil and John brought nothing but shame to the Intellivision brand.

Yes. This. No longer can we just wantonly continue believing Tommy Talarico is something akin to Jesus Christ, John F. Kennedy, the 300 Spartans, and Solid Snake combined. His facade as the most greatest person ever to live or have lived has been downgraded. Downgraded to something much lesser...... He's now merely the second most greatest person ever to live or have lived. What a fall from glory.

@@ThomwoththeWeather Pepsi DID/DOES NOT own Coca-Cola. You’re either misinformed or misinforming...
It might be like Pepsi or Coke buying RC, if this were the early ‘80s. Atari 2600 - 30 million units sold. Intellivision - 3 million units sold. Atari also didn’t stop, there. Their 8-bit computer line was monumental-with the daisy-chainable, hot-swappable precursor to USB (Serial I/O) AND the first ever separate graphics and sound chips on a computer, to take load off the GPU. Their 16-bit ST line is _still_ coveted by bands, for it’s MIDI control - having been the first computer on which DAW software was developed and used. Had Intellivision made one leap anywhere close to any of those things, that 3 million would be significant, but they didn’t. It was Barbie’s console. Most pro’lly play emulated Intellivision, but you don’t know how _truly awful_ Intellivision was, until you’ve played with that horrible disc-controller and those nasty rubber buttons, on the side. Even the 5200 and 7800 had better controllers than Intellivision...
Seriously. Name one technological leap/advance (besides _Frog Bog,_ of course) that Intellivision brought to gaming/computing in a way that was mimicked by _anyone._ Intellivision was never anything but wrong.

This was a prelude to amico going into bankruptcy. It needs the cash to fund its bankruptcy and 6 to 9 months. Right now they are liquidating their assets. That's what they're basically doing and they're finding a home with somebody who can actually take over those assets. Imagine in a bankruptcy having all these assets sold to hundreds of companies and splitting the library even more. What we call fracturing the library but in this case here Atari gets the entire suite now. As far as the two games at BBG own, they actually co-own them with Atari bbg's handling the new releases of them. Those two games anything modernized while Atari has the old licenses of those games. If you read the acquisition that happened several months ago that Atari bought VM network. It states it in it

Alas, maybe they can get that from BBG--who knows. Atari is very wise to steer clear of the Amico sham/scam. I expect some of the original Intellivision games to be made available for the Atari VCS. A mini-Intellivision, like the recent 400, could be on the horizon. How cool would an Intellivision+ be, that plays physical carts? Considering ~10X more original Atari 2600 consoles were sold compared to the Plimpton-era Intellivisions, that may be too niche.

You don’t know much about the history of computing, do you? Atari made the first computers with separate audio and video chips, as well as the precursor to USB (Serial I/O) on their 8-bit line (1979), alone. Now, X-Box is in worse shape.

Except they were the first big winner. 30 million 2600s to 3 million Intellivisions and 2 million ColecoVisions. Add the C^4 in there, and Atari still wins, even without counting their own, further ahead of its time 8-bit line.

I see this was the reason the word "Intellivision" wasn't in the last email from Phil.
    I'd love to know:
-Will the Blue Sky Rangers, the new Amico owners, be a separate legal entity from IE?
-Will they have full rights to Intellivision IPs and branding as long as they use "Blue Sky Rangers" instead of "Intellivision"?
-Did the Blue Sky Rangers earn some investment money for Amico in this deal?
The Blue Sky Rangers arguably were the true heart and soul of Intellivision. Maybe Keith decided to take on the Amico torch from Tommy.
