Dr. here: this is a great perspective and I really wish more people shared this philosophy. That said, there are lots of forms of enjoyable exercise and you don’t have to sit in a 180° sauna or do ice pledges to be healthy. In fact, there’s no data showing those practices improve your health at all. It kind of seems like he’s torturing himself, which brings up another point: don’t pursue a healthy lifestyle to the point where are you ruin your quality of life trying to be healthy.

You don't need to sit in a ice bath or do saunas to be healthy but it definitely helps. You don't even need hard scientific evidence (even though there is) to know its good for you. It's just intuitive these methods of physical discipline are good for you. If you are an athlete and you have tried these things, you know.

I don't get sick, but I can relate with getting injured. Like farting and pulling your back out.

I don’t understand? Super high temps? Super low temps? You think this is good for your body? Your body tries to maintain the perfect temp. You are upsetting the balance of your regulated body temp. I don’t do any of that. I’m 70 and I enjoy work. I do heavy labor as an electrician traveling the world for jobs. I’m healthy as a horse and strong as one too. 😅

@GenXMoxie I have been in a sauna a couple times but all they do is make you sweat. There is nothing else but hot temperatures. I can work in the sun on a hot day and I sweat. So physically there is no differences there is no medicine or extra added to a sauna. It’s just hot, moist air. As for cold showers I do not know the benefit. It would be the same as being outside without a coat on a very cold winter day. It’s just cold water. It’s not medicine. Now if your body temp is high I suppose it has the effect of lowering your body temp. But as a living entity our body does it’s best to regulate our temp. That is why average norm is 98.6°. If our core temp starts to drop the body restricts blood flow to our extremities to keep warm blood flowing to our vital organs to try to keep them at the proper temperature. But if they help you that’s a good thing. And I hope they help you whenever you need them.
