    Great work! I'll be adding EFI (As part of a Supercharger conversion) to my M10, so this project will assist me greatly. Thanks.

    Great video. Your manual swap video helped me out with my e28 conversion. Glad to see another video from you.

    Nice video. Taking notes for an 81 conversion. I was wondering what it would take to address programmable ECU and "Presto". I wonder how I did that.? Looking forward to the completion.

    the idle control valve from a m50? it’s hard trying to find the early model m20 icv. can i get a close up on how you converted it? it’ll save me lots of money

      The only way I am able to get the M50 ICV to work on my M30 is that I am controlling it via the standalone ECU. Are you planning to use the stock ECU and wiring, or aftermarket?

    The throttle position switch from an automatic BMW is sequential. Manuals like yours have just 2 switches inside

    • @safetythird4555
      @safetythird4555  Před 3 lety

      My E24 is originally a euro automatic transmission model, so my TPS had the 2 switches. That's why I had to change the throttle body to a US spec automatic version so I could get the variable TPS. The US automatic throttle bodies had the 2 switches and a separate variable TPS for the transmission signal.

    Hi, what base tune did you use? I am trying to decide on ecu brand, and I feel like ecu master fits the bill but was wondering are there any base maps for m30. Thank you!

      I didn't use a base tune, but it was pretty easy to get a base map using the engine parameters, like capacity, fuel injector size, etc. I could also share my map if you ever need it.

    sick video thanks - mine needs a new ecu weighing up a barra conversion instead tho

      A Barra in this chassis would be a torque monster. The engine bay should be long enough to accept it, however I'm not sure about the height.

    8 have 4 of these 80s..6s... have you turbo'd.. this car yet? With this ecu?

    • @safetythird4555
      @safetythird4555  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Nope, haven't turbo'd. It'd be fairly easy to, but not what I want for this car (yet).

    The temp sensor (may be1 or 2) on the rad tank control the electric fan in front of the rad. If there's 2 of them then you have a 2 speed fan.
    The temp sensors behind the t-stat are for the ECU fuel control, display, and if there is a 3rd one, for starting injector control.

      Thanks. Yes, I figured those out as I was removing the stock harness. 1 for gauge, 1 for ECU, 2 for Aux/AC fan, and 1 for the start-up injector. Initially seemed overkill, but it makes sense now.

      I live in Texas, but I am not a shop. I only work on my own vehicles for fun. Sorry! 😐

    Is this ecu applicable to an 85 e23 735i m30b34 ?! 🤔🤔🤔

    • @safetythird4555
      @safetythird4555  Před 3 lety

      Given the same year (1985) and engine (M30B34), the ECUs might be same. The process for replacing it with a standalone programmable ECU should be the same.
