A ‘customer ride’ with that Troopy with the Cruisinator conversion = yes please !
Yes, YEs, YES!! Please!
The tech in your workshops blew me away. My dad was an auto transmission mechanic and I grew up helping out (getting in the way) in them in the 60s 70s and 80s. They used to do early LC conversions. I can't help thinking how much he'd have loved to walk around your shop being amazed by the changes and what you're doing with 4wds. Really enjoyed the tour. Thanks. Would love to see more. Cheers PP
Please take the Cruisinator for a test drive and give us a serious look at all of it!!! Pretty please!!!
Nice pink transmission,LOL, love to see a walk around of the troopy
Another great video. So real and genuine in the way you present.
Thank you so much 😊
As a Troopy owner, I would love to see the Cruisinator please Rocket.
Rocket Rocket Rocket Your workshop is mint, from the offices all the clipboards on the walls I presume are job cards to the filing in the office. The workshop floors mezzanine floors, dyno room electrical room. If I was to walk in and see that setup I would have no hesitation in booking my truck in Well done to you and your team to be able to be that busy but also keep up that standard ,
I had 4 crack one happened just as I was leaving the dealership. I loved the service managers face as I reversed back, he was not happy 😆
My 2020 Sahara just had the windscreen replaced. The insurance company sent us to Australian Windscreens and the fitter said that it was around $1000. Our insurance covers one free windscreen replacement per year. The recalibration is for the radar cruise control. There was also a module on the replacement windscreen that didn’t work on ours so as I drove out the dash lit up with warnings and was telling me to take it to a dealer. The windscreen fitter swapped out the new module for the old one from the damaged unit and had to recalibrate again. It was all good after that. I enquired with my Toyota dealership first but they don’t fit them. I love the way some of the know-alls in the comments just make shit up when they don’t have a clue. No, my insurance premiums did not increase. No, no vehicle warranty will cover the windscreen. Yes the calibration is real. People saying they will never buy a car with electronics in the windscreen are just ignorant. Having survived a head on collision I’ll take the extra safety gear over trying to save a few dollars IF I have to replace a windscreen which the insurance covered anyway. Try pricing a couple of the genuine luxury Euro brand windscreens and all of a sudden Toyota’s price isn’t so bad. Cheers.
79 auto that's just awesome 😎👍🏻 great job guy's 👍🏻👌🏻
I love the 79!
Good stuff rocket and team
I would assume the recalibration is to do with the forward looking radar systems (Emergency brake assist, adaptive cruise control, etc).
The 79 sitting there for so long must be driving you nuts, not is just the time it's taking but, it's also taking a space which could be used for a customer vehicle.
Love your videos Rocket. Keep up the great content. 👍
Thanks Jason, we will do our best!
yes please to customer ride!
Hey rocket rod,IV got a 1985 LandCruiser toopy..happy for U to have a walk around it ..
Wow that Cruisinator!! man some people have some money!
Rocket would like to see more of the troopy 👍👍👍
Rocket rod’s fingers of passion, can make love to any car.
lol
Loving your videos guys ! All the way from QLD
Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome
Rod can you do a video on the dyno room how it works and testing a trany and valve body, I think it it would be very interesting
Yep will do!
Q&A
What options are available for 100 series cruiser? Keen to get away from the old 4spd in the 4.7ltr V8 to something that will be smoother and give better use of the power, and better fuel economy.
All decent windscreen places should be able to calibrate the windscreen module. Happened to me the other day, windscreens Obrien had not dramas doing it
Just thought too say g'day to you fellers! From Jason Turnbull. I will be thinking what you said ☺️
I would say the windscreen has tension on it to crack like that. Or is it a manufacturing fault. or too many frosty morning and warm water.
As for the 79 series windscreen. It has a bit more slope on it than my old hj 47 .
If you want to talk about ridiculous colours. I painted my old hj 47 Holden chamois
I had a tin of spray paint I thought was beige. Being drunk I started painting the guards and bonnet. I was Holden chamois. It looked good so the rest got sprayed that as well
I still have the old hj 47 and it still runs it must have turned over at least 600000 kilometres. The speedo stopped at 380000
As for your 79 series we all love seeing you rebuild it from the ground up. It wouldn't matter what you did rocket someone will always complain about what you put up . They should be thankful you take the time to do this sort of thing actually
I enjoy it all
Once again thankyour for your information, time and effort
I was trying to remember who Rod looks like with that hair cut and then it hit me….
Barney Rubble from the Flintstones….. yabba dabba doo
lol
The Cruisinator please? I'd love to see that!
Show us the 76 Rod👍🏻👍🏻
Question for the Q&A,
Can you give more information about the 200 series Torque Converter lock up kit please
Windscreen legally should be warranty, stuff manufacturers and their physical damage excuse they could get out of anything with that. The amount of things I've had that just break even though I'm 10 fold more careful than the usual person it's insane.
I had a glass kettle, shattered while boiling within days, they refused to refund. Nuts. I have one from a different brand, glass, had it 5 years now no issue.
Cruisinator video thanks 🙏🏻
Also n80 auto deep pan please 😂
Working on the pan now!
Do it! Do the review.
Rocket
Question for the Q & A
Do you do anything for the RAM 1500 DT yet.
I find when towing (3200kg caravan) it holds the gears a lot longer than it should in my opinion. Might be something I need to get use to but just doesn’t seem right.
It’s perfect when not towing.
3 grand to replace and recalibrate the windscreen at the dealership? Big red flag for me.
Windshield cracks are everyday thing in West TX! Almost all new cars after driving 1000 miles, we see a crack! We have trucks without mud flaps and wheels sticking out all over the road. Here we pay US$ 600 for a new 2022 tacoma windshield out the door price.
Windscreen crack could be body flex . They are aluminium body aren't they ? $3000 dollar windscreens will put plenty of people off the 300 series .
That was my first suspicion but I can 100% confirm this though
Well that's good to know what the windscreen costs. I don't want a 300 series out of warranty. That's if warranty covers cracked windscreens. I can't see an insurance company covering that without high premiums. Just keep the tech out of windscreens.
Insurance did cover it at no cost. One free windscreen per year but I can see that changing if this are going to be the new normal cost.
@@WholesaleAutomatics That's good. Thanks for that information. Buyers might have to check the policies as they buy.
I do hope some day you will make it over to the southwest USA!
We will within the next 2-3 years as I do come over from time to time.
@@WholesaleAutomatics That is great news! I will not miss out on getting to greet you. I have loved watching you over the years.
Im not keen on 4wds with automatic transmissions. Manuals are the go.
Question for Q&A
In terms of adapters for the 1HDFTE; what autos are you wanting use for the adapter? I’m keen to do a auto 1HDFTE build very soon
I would wait as you would love the new conversion, It's a little early for me to announce but if you call me on Monday-Tuesday I will let you know.
Hi Rocket
I would love to see a walk around the 100/105 6 wheeler, I have a Y61 07 with a 6.5 chev and would like to do the same.I just can't find someone to do the 6 wheel conversion, can you point me in the right direction. Cheers Mick.
Cant see a direct cause for the windscreen breaking if its the factory glass.... but very unusual to break without impact.... unfortunatley the close shot isn't clear enough.... my area of further inspection would be where the ceramic edge finishes and 10mm in from there.... a bit blurred on your shot but may be impact point there
most larger independants can source a aftermarket glass and if they have invested in equipment, do the whole job from go to woe..... bout $1300 using aftermarket glass and recalibrated
Cruisinator walk around
Yes
Rod we want 300 series content
Yeah customers ride please
I love the 78 Series Troopy, but I'm sorry to say, that Cruisinator conversion is plain ugly. I would much prefer the Alu-Cab or Alu-Innovations conversions.
If the crack in the windscreen started on the edge of the glass it is a warranty job. Toyota's cost.
Recalibration of windscreens is required because of cameras and radar looking through the glass to operate all those features that the dum dums need to text while they drive.
$3000 for a windscreen that's has electronics. Damn, modern vehicles are crap are they not?
Electronics in the windscreen! Thats it my mind is now made up I'm getting a 60 Series LC with a 2H or a 12HT. I'm done with modern cars.
Does anyone have any negatives on the Auto in the 60 series? Should I just stick with the 5 speed MT?
Aus 4wd Sandys race car
Rocket when you going back with 4wd 24/7 mate. Miss seeing you on there!
I have a '21 LC200 with a tranny tune. Really like it except on the road it only does TC lock down to 4th gear.
Have you ever fitted an over-ride switch to these to enable TC lockup manually down in 2nd and 3rd. Think towing from Cairns to Mareeba. Temps got up to 120, and yes I have one of your coolers fitted. Could get them down by really feathering the throttle but where's the fun in that?
We have a fully adjustable lock-up kit that suit your needs. Here is the web link:
automatictransmission.com.au/shop/nomad-torque-converter-lock-up-control-kit-to-suit-toyota-landcruiser-200-series/
What auto's are you looking to put behind the 4jji, I've got the 5 speed auto in my dmax ,how do you rate them
The 5 speed auto in the Dmax is fairly good and you can upgrade them with our Nomad Valve Body and Oil Cooler. We are looking at doing a 4jj1 to Nissan Patrol.
Most of your works seems to be with 4WD's at the moment, but do you do much in terms of motorsport/drag racing ect?
Most 4wd's including Std rebuilds, cooler kits, lock-up kits, Nomad and Extreme valve bodies, conversions then we do a lot of high end builds, mostly 4x4 still but we do few two wheel versions as well.
Hi Rod I do a lot off towing with my 2013 Amarok would it help to get a transmission lock up kit ?
Unfortunately we don’t have a lock-up kit available for the Amarok but I do Highly recommend the oil cooler if you are going to tow. Here is a web link:
automatictransmission.com.au/shop/heavy-duty-transmission-oil-cooler-kit-to-suit-volkswagon-amarok-with-zf8hp26-8-speed-automatic/
Hi Rocket! Need your help! My 2000 LC 100 series (V8 Petrol 4.7L Automatic) BLEW the transmission at 245 K miles, had a good maintenance. Drove 350 miles at about 75 MPH, pulled to fill petrol and start driving... all good then made a 90 degree turn to merge with the main road and felt something strange: Symptoms: on D, 1st and 2nd slips but will move slowly. Some times hard shifting. The LC was driving all good until this moment. Took it to a shop and they said the planeraty gears, OD gears are all chewed up due to a blown bearing inside the OD hub. They are rebuilding it including a new torque converter. Wish you were near! Any thoughts? My first Toyota that broke down and so upset it been a reliable LC.
I would have to say unlucky as I would have expected more Jan.
Chop the 300!
how often should you service your auto box ford has told me its every 10 years or 200000 km we do a lot of towing with the ranger and it starting to worry me is it ok or should it be done every 50000 km
No, it's once every 2 years or 50,000Km's Ron. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Here is a little write up on it:
automatictransmission.com.au/newsletter/servicing-sealed-transmissions/
Mate, when I win the lotto and get my 47 series I want you to do the auto gear box but! Can you get someone else to test drive it as you break everything!
hahaha that made me laugh lol
I have a project im working on and wanted your help being a shorty with a gu ute cab extended to a mid wheel base with a 350hp zd30 crd and wanted to run a 5speed conversion but when I called I had no help
Happy to help personally but the 5 speed is more difficult than the 4 speed, email me directly at rodney@askorto.com.au and I will see what we can do.
How did you guys become involved with 4wd action/ 4wd 24/7
I'm waiting on the video where you put the 70 on portals.
I wish Andrew, law won't let me unfortunately because my car is already registered VicRoads won't let me!
@@WholesaleAutomatics Ahhhh, I forgot about that. Pre rego only.
First Toyota make you pay $100k for a car from the 80s, then they charge you 10k for a pane of glass on a 120k car. wow.
Let’s be honest, who would say no to some pink box?
lol
My best mate rebuilt my engine for me. He painted my engine mounts Hot pink,
lol
Some people have a lot of spair cash
Hey rocket what happened to the wholesale Holden panel van ??? Wasn’t it a 3 door ambulance 🚑 . Is it still around ?
We sold it on about 7 years ago and it ended up in a wrecking yard but I believe it was rescued when it was realized that it was an original Sandman before it was modified.
Dam , Covid tax these days it would be worth a shiny dollar 💵 . I used to work in Barry st back in the day good times
Rule number one, if "safety package" includes cameras on the windscreen, don't option it. If possible.
It's standard tech on a lot of cars now. I have a GLX+ Triton (basically a base model) and even it has cameras and sensors in the windscreen for lane departure, emergency braking, auto wipers, etc.
When are you going to do a lock up kit for The Ranger six speed?
Kit is complete, we are doing the testing now. About 4-5 months Richard.
@@WholesaleAutomatics Thanks i will be on your doorstep picking one up as soon as they are available
Have you got something wrong with your shirt?, I see you tuggin on it a fair bit.
I'm the bit thats broken sorry lol, Built in unfortunately.
Hi Rocket
You have been taking about a customer rides i think my partner mite like it in her hilux. Please fill me in on this. We live along way way from your business.
Rocket broke something? I'm not surprised lol
A cracked windscreen, lol. $3k, wow. Toyota needs flogging for doing that.
All my mates would do that, many have tried
Hahaha, yep I broke it lol
Thats a troopy mate ahaha
Yes, I noticed that once I finished the video lol
@@WholesaleAutomatics ahahahahahaha 👌
Time you where back off road m8
Have you got a dealer in Townsville?
Yes we do John, what are you after?
I am asking as I have my eye on a 80 series.
Something different great video walk around the shop and show us a few things nice job Q&A how Stu dogs sex life😆😆😆
Electronic windscreens???
I will NEVER, EVER but one of those Toyotas . . What a RIP-OFF!!
3000 dollars…? Tell me that is the Toyota retail price, but that your insurance covers this, and you only pay 200 bucks…
No that was our trade price but it was covered under insurance.
The Cruisinator is ugly AF and you'd probably have a lot of wind noise from that ugly thing on the roof...
wow, garbage. Im so glad none of my trucks have any of that fancy stuff
