    Amazing video!!! I've always wanted to see what it's like to fly low level up over Windermere, Dunmail Raise and Thirlmere. Interesting route via St Johns in the Vale then turning over Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite. Brilliant stuff which I'll watch many more times!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍

    Did this a few times in Hawks when I was in, over the Lake District and Wales. You can certainly hear the cold air unit, that is right behind the rear seat, on the top of the fuselage, winding up and down.

      I wondered what the noise was that fluctuated - thanks for explaining, everyday is a school day.
      How low, do you reckon they were, over the lakes, relative to the 500' rule (does that apply to military aircraft?)?
      All looked like a lot of fun✌️👍😊

Maybe one day flips around the mach loop and windermere areas for joe public will be available in the back of a Hawk . But excellent to watch .

    I can't think what the Red Arrows are going to replace this with as it's just a perfect all round aircraft for them, both technically and aesthetically. Today's jets are so ugly with no character, just flying computers. Gone are the Phantom, Buccaneer, Jaguar and the Hawk won't be far behind and now we have the soulless Typhoon and F-35's

    • @dorsetdumpling5387
      @dorsetdumpling5387 Před 3 lety +3

      Trade speed for altitude then consider your options! If all else fails, pray to your Lord(s) but put your faith in Martin Baker.

    • @torch8922
      @torch8922 Před 3 lety

      @@dorsetdumpling5387: jets don’t glide very well. No gliding to the nearest runway - you’d only option would be a dead stick landing which requires a lot of height to set up. To carry out a dead stick landing, there are 2 keys (position and height above the runway) - high key and low key. If you miss either of those keys, a Martin-Baker letdown is in the cards.

    • @stephenauty2402
      @stephenauty2402 Před rokem

      No where to land in the Lakes apart from a lake. Pilot would pull up to gain height , look for the best place to ditch the plane without killing anyone on the ground and then eject after the co-pilot

    • @nvstewart
      @nvstewart Před 7 lety +3

      Throttle modulation. If you drive a vehicle at the same speed as the vehicle in front of you, do you worry about what throttle setting you have, and the weight differential between you and the other vehicle? Same thing.

      @ballisticaeros Před 3 lety +2
