I swapped out my stock upper and lower manifolds for ported ones. This is just a vlog of me removing the upper manifold only. Its a learn process for me which is why its so long.

It looks surprisingly easy really. For as bad as it looks like it would be anyway. I was thinking about doing a good aftermarket intake once my entire exhaust is done first. I was told by Evans Tuning that the 370's computer does a very good job of recalibrateing the parameters after something major like intakes and full exhausts are installed. I asked him about tuning mine after i get done with the couple bolt ons I want to do and thats when he emailed me and said that. He said at the most he could maybe get 10hp more than the factory ecu adjusting things by itself. I dont know, you always hear so many different opinions online. But Evans is a very reputable shop so I guess ill listen to him.
Thanks for checking the video out.
I’ve heard that opening up the exhaust really helps with intake mods. I got a tune right after I finished this, but I agree, the stock ecu is capable of adjusting to the changes to a certain extent.
@@ProjectPanda13 Do you know what types of aftermarket manifolds there? I know z1 has one. I'm assuming a 370z intake manifold will fit right onto the g37x, right? Same engine minus AWD/7at
Ethan Dudla , Z1 actually isn’t an aftermarket manifold, they just do the port work. A lot of good companies can do it also. Mine were done by CFM Performance in Ohio. Motordyne modifies a 350z/G35 HR manifold to fit 370z/G37 VHR. AAM makes a complete aftermarket one. But it’s best to just send your stock one to Z1 or a good shop
I had a Stillen Gen3 long tube cold air intake, a Fast Intentions dual x-pipe cat back exhaust and a dyno tune done on a Dynojet chassis dyno with Ecutek software. We got 321 peak rwhp with an estimated crankshaft hp of 387, assuming a 17% drivetrain loss with the 6-speed manual transmission. I did run a mixture of race gas(100 octane) with pump gas(91octane) for an average of 94 octane. This allowed the tuner to extract more power by going more aggressive on the timing, within safe limits.
Keep it up! Where is part two bro?
Mr.Logic23 , that’s for the support.

This is the lower manifold video. I’m learning as I’m going. But if you need help have a question, let me know and I’ll try to help.
ProjectPanda13 thanks for getting back to me homie. Can you tell me of how much difference did it make in your car? I am trying to install just the upper part of the motordyne intake manifold because I drive a 2009 Infiniti G37 s coupe with six speed manual.
Do you think it is worth it? How much horsepower did it add? Thanks man
@@ubiased23 I am about to do this in a week.
Its been a while did you ever get it installed?
I have a q50 3.7 2015 so it should be around the same gains
InfamousT are you? Post a video bro so we can check it out. Maybe you can do before and after the installation?
In my case I haven’t bro. I am waiting for more reviews and planning some projects to it.
The first thing I wanna do is add the android auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, planning to paint the car because it’s got some dents and to refurbish the wheels.
Once I do that, then I would do the performance parts such as bigger oil cooler, and racing radiator.
But definitely willing to install the bigger intake manifold.
@@ubiased23 Some asshole ran into mycar and smashed my entire passenger door :(
Only reason im waiting a week. I have the manifold already. Just didnt touch the box.
I will def do before and after pulls to see if there is much gain.
Good video, would be cool if you had a camera person hold the phone over the project and it was daytime. Thx though...music was cool.
Ray Nova , thanks for checking the video out. I do agree, I wish I had a friend or my wife to help film but I usually work on my car alone.
I wonder if a head strap would make the video better? More of a POV video?
I always hear people saying that if you mess around with the throttle bodies sometimes you have to reteach them to work properly, needing a retune, is that only if you disconnect them?
Do you remember if you reuse the lower metal manifold gasket or did you buy new gaskets?
In this video, I actually reused it but would recommend a new one since the gasket can get deformed and not seal right.
I know this video isn’t focused on that but I was just wondering because I want to do this to my Z as well
There are different opinions on the worth of this mod but for me, the combination of ported upper and lower on my G with a tune changed the way the car drove. Definitely more mid range power. This was noticeable even to my wife who doesn’t drive my car often.
@@ProjectPanda13 nice bro , what about before the tune , was there a significant difference,
@@torvarrisevans7254 , I didn’t get to drive it before a tune. I installed the ported manifolds and got a tune right after.
@@ProjectPanda13 ok cool
I was wondering if I get the upper intake manifold ported would I need a tune? All I have is tbs and k&n filters and a muffler delete
Thanks for checking out my video
If only the upper manifold, you can get away without a tune. But I’m not sure there much gained without a tune. The stock ecu had enough adjustment to compensate for the increased air, but a tune will optimize the air/fuel ratio for gains.
I just subbed my brother!!
I greatly appreciate the support. The plastic manifold was ported. I have another video of the retune with just the upper and lower as the difference in parts and gained 20whp mid range and 10whp peak. It’s a great mod.
@@ProjectPanda13 I only have one video as of now but I would appreciate some support myself! I was my understanding that the plastic manifold won't get you significant gains! I know someone that has a 600whp G37 sedan and he has a gtr manifold!
@@ProjectPanda13 20 whp isn't bad at all! I'm currently waiting on my exhaust to be built! Motordyne is backed up so I may go with ARK instead!
The weak point of the oem plastic manifold for high horsepower is that it cannot hold the pressure and crack. That the main reason big power builds switch to the GTR manifold, AAM, and SOHO for stronger upper manifolds.
Both are great exhaust. Motordyne has a deeper tone but also louder. Ark is the perfect daily exhaust.
Does upgrading the upper manifold only require a tune so my G doesnt run lean?
If you are only upgrading the upper separately from an intake upgrade, you’ll still be fine and the ecu can compensate for the increased air.
I believe I read that if two or more air mods is highly advised to get a tune.
installed z1 upper intake manifold but when i started the car the idle is really rough. rpm keeps going up and down. would i need to tune my car for it to run normal again?
Thanks for stopping in on my video.
There’s a vacuum leak somewhere. Double check all the hoses and ports.
You it should idle and run normal after install.
Also double check the top screw hole. Sometimes people puncture it when they use the wrong screw. It the hole that holds the plastic cover
Do throttle body relearn
@@devinestarda7712 , good point also.
@ProjectPanda13 does the plenum bring bolts or can I just use the old ones from my oem plenum? If the Z1 plenum bring bolts which ones are they?
Are you sending your plenum to them for the port work or are you buying one already ported from them?
I would confirm with them which they are sending you.
@@ProjectPanda13 i bought it from a friend but he didn’t have the bolts so that’s why I’m trying to figure out. Are they longer then the OEM
@@alittleofeverything2869 , z1 plenum are just modified stock plenums. So it could be both short or long bolt.
You can check if it has the spacer collar or not. If it does, then you need the long bolts
@@ProjectPanda13 thank bro appreciate the help.
@@ProjectPanda13 one last thing. Did you use the oem bolts?
Do you have to reuse the gaskets on manifold?
I bought new ones but some people have reused them. I would check for dryness and deformation.
Yo! lol nice work with the video! really helpful if I had a G lol.
OhItsJustZhu thanks brother. I’ve seen you recent videos and man, you editing is good and entertaining.
Thanks for posting this video bro, any noticeable difference? Are they worth it?
Static Alpha , thanks for the support. Because I installed both and got a retune, it’s hard to say which one in particular increased the most. Together I can say my torque increased a lot. But if I had to recommend one, get your upper manifold ported over the lower. Depending on how the lower manifold is ported, it’s been known to low hp down low for gain up top.
Subscribe to my channel for more videos like this. Thank you again for the support.
@@ProjectPanda13 yes I did subscribe, I'll go ahead and buy the upper thank you
Static Alpha , so you plan to send your original to a shop to get ported or buy one already ported? Z1 sells ported units and you can send in your code for a core refund. Soho is another shop. Or you can send your original to Synergy Composites and the owner can port your unit. He’s popular with the 370z community.
@@ProjectPanda13 I found a tuner shop who is gonna sell me one for $200 and $150 core, I'll send mine and I'll get the 150 back
I want to ask why some vq37 intake pipe has reduced the size near the maf sensor and after the maf sensor it gets bigger again ?
raheel saleem , that I take in the video is a K&N Typhoon and I believe a lot of aftermarket intakes neck down at the MAF so they don’t require a tune to run on the car. I’ve since upgraded to full 3” long tube intakes and those require a tune to run.
Thanks for the support and checking the video out.
@@ProjectPanda13 ohhh ok ... Thanks for the info .. Yeahh i watched the video but sound was turned off because i thought its just a music nothing more
Did you notice a difference with the throttle body spacera?
James Dean Cooper , the throttle spacer is part of the 70mm throttle body kit from EPS. It’s the transition piece from 70mm to 60mm at the manifold. It’s hard to say if it helped with anything since I had the EPS kit installed with my intake, test pipe and full exhaust
@@ProjectPanda13 I see thank you. I've seen spacer from afe and wondering if they're useful
@@ProjectPanda13 for you to notice a gain with the throttle body upgrade you have to replace that plastic manifold!
Throttle body spacers? Worth it?
Ethan Dudla , I upgraded to 70mm throttle bodies and it needed a transition spacer. From what I have read, spacers don’t give any gains on VHR and only help with DE motors
@@ProjectPanda13 you have to change out that plastic manifold.
Subbed!
Thanks for the support. Let me know if you've got any questions. I'll try to help the best I can.
Bro did u feel any difference, is it worth it for stock g37
Torvarris Evans , thanks for checking the video out and supporting.
I would say this was one of the mods that gave me one of the best gains in midrange. Peak power I only gained 10whp but my largest gain was 25whp in midrange
ProjectPanda13 Thank u , Am from The Bahamas bro , I ready want to purchase this mod but wasn’t sure that it will help my stock g37
Will I see similar gain to what u have or your car already has mods and tune which contribute to your results
A tune is needed to maximize the gain. czcams.com/video/UtKl3-_diQE/video.html this video is the dyno and tune skip to 0.58 seconds to see the dyno chart overlay of my previous and the new. You should see similar gains
ported manifolds are worth 1-2hp on average.
👌🏻🔥🔥
Thanks brother
