Riot on their way to nerf one of the most underused items ever.
I wish they did the opposite by making it so QSS not only removes CC but also DOTS and Marks. That would lead to way more skill expression while having a heavy downside.
@@skeley6776 We had that in the past and it wasn't good.
Why?
Because it countered some champs way to hard (Trundle) and was often bought, when it was really useless (Zed, as he would easily win if you spent 1300 gold on MR). Not only did this frustrate the players it was bought against but it also frustrated the people that did buy it because they were forced to pay this "QSS tax".
It also lead to some very janky interactions with knockups and champions canceling their own debuffs, etc.
So, while it would add skill expression, it would also introduce a lot of frustrating mechanics while making the game buggier overall.
Gonna be really fun to see Mord data (P/B and winrate) after this patch.
Probably gonna increase by a lot since a lot of people will try him, and generally he is a very easy champion.

If his wr goes up by any % it will probably be in low elo where this still happens with the interaction existing.

Mordes ult needs to be designed like Camilles ult. No one can escape her ult and yet all she does is box you up like fuckin fortnite. Morde is literally taking you to a different dimension.
An ability that sends you to another dimension should just straight up be immune to cleanses/unstoppables of any kind its not a displacement so it wont screw with too many ults and olaf still gets to be immune to E with the stats
Also fuck gp eating orange in general.
The problem is from a design perspective, for Camille's case, allies can still help her target. They can even put Camille out of her R if they have adequate tools (Lee Sin R, Janna R, etc)
For Mordekaiser, it's either Morde or his target die, or the battle drags longer than the duration. But during this time the target is on their own.
If they made it completely unavoidable by any means, then Riot would have to nerf it, either by reducing the duration at early ranks or by increasing the CD, or reducing thr stats stolen.

@@xaedris His current design is good, though I do agree they should stop completely removing the concept of a champion when reworking.
Volibear, Fiddlesticks, Warwick, Pantheon, Irelia are perfect reworks. Nothing is lost (at least in some way) and they have a diverse gameplay while still feeling like you're playing the same champion.
Aatrox and Mordekaiser were completely changed and I don't like it. The final designs are good on their own, and if they were new champions there would be no problem.
And it's not like old Sion, or old Poppy where their kits didn't make sense at all and really needed a complete change.
They should have kept Aatrox being an auto attacker, maybe more oriented to abilities like Irelia for example.
As for Morde, if I were the one to rework him, I would have made him be a jungler that "zombify" jungle monsters as his passive, basically his old R would just simply be a passive. The basic abilities would roughly be the same except modernized, and the R something completely new that would change effect based on which monster is with you currently.
But hey, let's not complain at least Skarner rework is good!

That's pretty much it. Malz, warwick, skarner, sett R, yasuo (cancels knockup = cant ult). Always was.
But also some games you just need Qss anyway. You basically take it in places where you'd want cleanse, or more than one cleanse if you take summoner too.
it also seems to happen on new skarner r. if you do it like how you did with ornn w. just happened to me on OFA

Mordekaiser R now counts only as an spell, not a "debuff", meaning only way to dodge his ult is through spell shields you get either from items or from abilities (e.g. Fiora W, Sivir E)

I don't think there's a singular reason to ever get QSS/Mercurial ever again now. Cleanse I feel like is a much better summoner spell than wasting an item slot on an already needy class like ADC. The only other champ that you would buy this into is Malzahar. Pretty much it.
You've apparently not often had the displeasure of facing Malzahar with something squishy that has to dive into the enemy team.
Experiencing that is a very good argument to buy QSS.

Im honestly surprised that the QSS doesn't remove the stat steal debuff either.
Should try with Rengar as well. Ferocity Battle Roar can break out of Morde R before this change. Be interesting if it still can.

If timed right you can cancel Morde's R with Warwick's Q, thats kinda the reason y mained it

Warwick Q does have CC immunity but honestly? I used to play the champ to chase after Flashes, it's so fucking fun.

I hope they make the same change with champion abilities. So many champs can just dodge Morde ult for no reason like Viego, Kled, Illaoi, Ornn, K'sante, Olaf, Milio, Rengar, Sion, Alistar, Gangplank... etc
As we saw with some examples in the video, that will probably not be the case.
And that's also good in my opinion as counterpicks are something valuable that shouldn't get taken away. If Morde is allowed to counter certain champs because of his ult, others should be allowed to counter him as well. Furthermore, for most champs it's a skill check as they have to time their ability to escape getting sucked in, but can't escape once they're in the death realm.

@@lubue5795 Yeah I feel like there's a range of difference for Champs like Illaoi, Sion, Kled, who has to time their ults perfectly or else they're completly fucked, to Olaf or Milio who have to use their ults but don't have to time it frame-perfectly , to Ornns and Gangplanks who have it on a basic ability.

Milio and Olaf make sense
an R for an R? fair exchange
GP and Ornn though? that should be illegal
Ornn shouldnt use the unstoppable effect

where he is still susceptible to CCs but the ability continues nonetheless
GP makes sense. It call power budget. GP ult is bad in 1v1. If you nerf gp orange then you must buff ult or rework it.

Except Ornn IS susceptible to MOST forms of CC. He's just displacement immune during his W which only accounts for knocks and things like Morde R. It's the same for other abilities like WW Q.

@@LordDuckington603 I believe what they are referring to is that before QSS change with zed ulti, people weren't buying armour to counter him which meant they would still lose. So rather than JUST buy QSS, people will actually build the mr needed (beyond what QSS gave as less stats) to be able to fight him

It doesn't need to be hard cc when you can not kite morde because of rylai's.

And yes, if a champion invests an entire item slot to be harder to escape from, others should not be able to just “kite” him.
The whole idea of that realm is that you fight 1v1, and stronger character (stat wise) wins.

Removing qss cleanse on his ult seems like a really bad choice tbh. Sure, everybody can buy qss so his ult becomes practically useless over time since everyone can cleanse it. But if you remove this then his ult becomes one of the most op ults in the entire game thanks to carry/adc (I mean pretty much anyone core in a teamfight) capturing potential with only counter to this being Millio (or being any of the champs in the video ofc).
It was slowing down the economy of adcs anyways, if the mord is such a threat that an adc has to interupt their build path just to itemize against a single ability you have already got the value out of your ult even if they cleanse it.....
There are quite a few champions that have a cleanse or access to unstoppable in one way or another. This does indeed significantly boost the power of Mordekaiser's ultimate, but it is also his entire purpose. He exists to press R on the ADC or fed midlaner or whatever. Instead of 1300 gold denying a champion their ENTIRE purpose, lets just make it so QSS does not work on Morde ult, and if he is really all that broken, just tune him down afterwards. Balance around numbers, not jank and unfun solutions.

But that applies to many ults and other spells.
Camile ult captures the ADC and throws the rest of his team away. Jarvan captures ADC if they have no dash. Nauti or Vi ult are also guranteed and undodable CC.
Fair, Morde does arguably have stronger "CC" than those champs, but he also has far less mobility and if he can't kill you in the death realm, because he's behind, then his ult is far worse.
So, I don't think it's as bad or OP as you think.

I'm all for the change since I'll play morde again with it, but QSS still made sense at working for his. The fact you can run up to whoever is the one carrying the enemy team and just remove them from the fight so your team can dominate the fight is absolutely absurd.
Tank too good at peeling? Ult it.
Hyper carry able to shred your whole team? Ult it.
Illoai just ult your whole team? Ult it.
It's one of the few ults That is absolutely game breaking if you use it correctly, because it pretty much guarantees a win so long as you aren't significantly team diffed.

Also, you can Zhonyas the morde ult, if you have the reaction speed.
Furthermore, the Morde removes himself from the teamfight as well, so if he ults the wrong target, it turns into an equally big disadvantage for his team. Additionally, if he loses the 1vs1 in the death realm, then there suddenly will be an enemy in his teams backline as well.
Last but not least, Morde has little mobility and the ult has a low cast range, so it's entirely possible to kite and CC him so he can't get his ult off.
Not to mention that there are a good number of champions who can still cleanse his ult and thus hard counter him.

Each skill mentioned were ones that apply after x amount of time, in which you can counter the damage by using Zhonya. If you're in the realm of Morde, Doing zhonya doesn't cover the duration of the ult.
Once again you mention something irrelevant. I'm not talking about bad players who ult the wrong person.
An enemy coming back to the field doesn't mean anything if you picked the right person. You not being able to beat them doesn't matter so long as it's a key person that allow your team to win. Your team will have stomped the enemy, and be able to take care of that person.
You're either not a Morde player, or REALLY have no idea what you're talking about.
I love Morde, and I'm all for him getting a buff as it means I'll put him into my rotation again instead of being a pocket pick, I'm simply saying this one isn't it as an overall change.
I'd rather they make the CD longer on the items so it can be punished.

TBH the ultimate fix would be to just change his ult. They removed Poppy's old ult because of how oppressive it was, yet they don't remove Morde's which is nearly as strong, if not stronger seeing as it's hard to run from him.

@@kingol4801 I don't think "click on an enemy and cause their near-certain demise" is a particularly engaging ability personally. I suppose in a way this change makes the ability better, as in it's only frustrating for the target, not both the target and user simultaneously.
@@Renegative Then remove Camille R, Veigar R, all of Annie's abilities, Rengar R, Akali kit, Qiyana kit, etc etc. If you don't want to be ulted by Morde, don't put yourself in a position to be ulted. It's literally that simple.

The video literally shows you a Lot of counters. Plus, Morde's damage abilities are all skillshots. Even inside the deathrealm, you can Dodge all of them. His passive no longer has the Power to kill by itself (low dmg after the nerfs and his attack speed is also too slow)
Actually this should be the norm. Name me one champion that targets one enemy only which can be cancelled as easily as Morde R. Now add to that morde is a MELEE champ which doesn't have a single dash, has to proc 3 hits to get a small speed buff, has no cc beside his pull which has a long animation. And you want an item to counter him? Imagine there is an item that counters each champion in the game. Why not make an item that blocks R for all champions? Yeah?

@@IceedPro WTF? He needs to land a Spell in Order to apply his slow. If he misses his E, its 14 seconds cd; he misses Q, its 4 seconds cd on level 5 (more than half his ultimate).
In short, If you Dodge 3 spells he is Dead.
Plus, If youre a Champion that dashes or can throw him away (like tristanas 'R), than he' REALLY Dead.

You know what fair, though qss is becoming even more rare nowadays. It would be nice if they rethought the item and came up with a different approach that still solved the problem of being super stunned, perhaps just buffing the support version of the item to feel more impactful or have more skill expression.

@tranducquang5912 on one hand yes on the other hand it's was meant to be used as tool for like champions like mundo and atrox (old one) I mean look now most healing effects now heal base on missing hp too 40% healing reduction to just even fields is kinda a must for most champions who have those kind of healing effects you either run ignite or waste gold and slot for antyheal (or had champion with antyheal in kit in past) heck try to win laning phase(1-8levels) agnist vlad who plays properly with out ignite is almost impossible same goes with darius on melee range (unless you want to give him free bleed stacks witch in turn gives him ad)
@@xzorgo2453 vlad problem in the late game is not his healing, its his dmg. You can counter most omnivamp champions by bursting them. Darius all you have to do is kite him. If you can’t, its mostly on you. You don’t see alot of omnivamp champions on high elo mostly cause of that. The viables one are aatrox(dude builds lethality and just gonna 1 shot you before your anti heal does anything) or zac(his healing is annoying but its mostly his engage that is OP)
fair point if you rly can out kite darius in melee range when he runs ghoust instead of ignite which is stronger in my opinion bursting champions well fair idea but it was not really possible to burst mage before they adjusted items (giving less hp in item for more ap on them) I mean Vladimir might be bad example here because he does scale hp pull with ap sure other players who didn't learned how to play properly agnist vlad feels much more unfair compare to darius might also the fact that zhonia does still exist as well I don't think I mention having issue with latter stage of game ofc healing is issue for those champs if they are too ahead on gold because they can outheal burst etc but what it all comes to is early game/laning phase if you deny 300 gold you can delay power spike for enemy which is what makes you building lead etc I am not saying darius is problem but rather is the fact that if you play immobile champ with almost no mobility or none at all you need that antyheal for those kind of guys even if they gona heal like 20% of their max hp with one basic ablity even after antyheal applice and than use gordrinker too in my honest opinion there is just too much stacking healing options like goredrinker into sundered sky like antyheal does not feel like it takes effect enough to make diffrence because of of so much healing [aspecialy when you have kit already in champ] good example would be illaoi with her ult and tentacles ofc you should never fight her when she ults but even before level 6 you kinda have to have antheal(ingnate) if you legitimately want to fight her all in like it kinda restrains your summoner spell choices too (it quite stangnat even though we have 10+ smite summoners spells) my issue with those guys who heal so much is that the gameplay vs them is boring because you have fewer option A wait for your power spike B wait for jungler gank C pray to god that summoner does not know how to play that champ properly fully other options will get you behind either gold or expirence D play safe . And let's be fair here nobody wants to play boring ass lane of 12 min doing nothing because enemy champ just can't be deal with your champ or your current skills [also does not help the fact that community is quite toxic ] and before 12 min of that you have like soild 6-7 min of match making select( with doges or just simply potato connection in 1/10 players ) Don't get me wrong I would pick darius over Vladimir and time of the the compression of frustration in laning face feel so much diffrent like you lost to darius sure but does not heal after you fight him so jungler might punish him if gets greedy meanwhile Vladimir full heal with 4 qs ... feels so much worse not to mention low cd on and point click compare to darius q yes it can heal more if hit more people but does not really do much in the lineing phase unless you 2vs1 him with jungler . the idea of bursting would require to out trade in lane so you can do your one shot . overall the feeling after death and seeing champ to full heal with your death timer feels very much shity and unjust good example in past was old fidel sticks W when it was point click heal to full channel yes could be interapted with displacement/cc/silence but if you were like trundle and used your pillar witch I belive has like 30s cd rank 1 while fidel w had like 10 s cd felt like nothing could be done other than farm and wait and wait for who know the jungler might come might not at all

I think it's because Morde's Ult is a Displacement Type of CC which is contradictory to QSS as it says it removes all types of CC except Displacement Type like Airborne while Olaf, GP, Rengar and Milio cleanses all CC types
