This is the only video I could find that has a well lit view up into the mid section showing the holes where each rod is suppose to go, very helpful, thank you thank you.

Thank you for making this video. I'm picking up a Mariner 15 on Saturday and I plan on doing this first. Also, your vid didn't have an annoying intro and a bunch of distracting music. You were right to the point.. my kind of people.

I can't tell you how much this video helped me. I was reluctant to do this for the first time. I have that exact motor but in the 6 hp. The replacement part is the same part # as you pointed out near the end of the video. After watching this I had my confidence. Completed the job by myself and everything worked like a champ. You are the man! Simple instructions and to the point without trying to show everyone how much smarter you are than everyone watching the video.

I found your video very helpful with my 9.9 merc. Other videos do not show disconnecting the gear selector or the stop on the shift shaft. Thanks

Killer video, totally to the point without the fluff!! May I add..... I'd skip petroleum base lubes on any rubber seals or O-rings, it can swell or soften the material. Silicone based is best. Use "tune up grease" for spark plug boots or "Dielectric grease" etc.. These are essentially the exact same products, thickened almost clear silicone grease. Also works wonders on low voltage spade terminals or any other 12v connections. Clean connections, add silicone grease to mating surfaces and forget oxidation forever!!

Excellent video, I can't believe you did it without swearing, especially when the water tube dropped out from the motor...........

My 1982 Mariner 15M must be a different year than yours, because the pin to the shift linkage was altogether different.
    Your video still helped.

Hi GT, Loved you no-nonsense video. You make it look so easy. I dont suppose you have a video where you dismantle the the forward and reverse gear unit below the impeller? My engine is slipping out of gear. Most likely due to salt water ingress into the gear box and corrosion/fouling of the gears. I have the "official manual" but that is really no help at all.
