The project to this repair is comlex it might cost more of thia just to recover the very important data but i know this will cost more than a stadard repair because of the materials, skills and patience of this motherboard to be fully recover.
What happens with the shields? Can they be replaced at all? If not, does it impact the phone's performance?

Good video presentation. Modern ultrasonic cleaners use "sweep" frequency management. The machines change frequency constantly, so the energy is never on a harmonic frequency of the lead for very long, and never at the same power setting, which has been proven to minimize damage to components.However, some electronic components, notably MEMS devices such as gyroscopes, accelerometers and microphones can become damaged or destroyed by the high intensity vibrations they are subjected to during cleaning.
At the same time, I think every expert would urge careful and thorough testing on your boards, your components and your systems before certifying the process to be trouble-free.
A better answer might be to look at vapor degreasing. Vapor degreasing is a much gentler form of cleaning that does not need ultrasonic to work well.
Late on this topic but ultrasonic cleaning is still the most effective way financially and the most viable option for this field.
Sure a super sensitive mic or gyro might benefit from other methods but for iPhones it’s more than safe at U.S level (40khz).
Vapor degreasers are also quite expensive and reserved for large scale uses.
Very good, you make that connector replacement look too easy.
This cleaner has no specs and probly no heater, do not cut costs on a cheap ultrasonic cleaner, it will do your device more harm then good, also beware what PCB cleaner u use, some like Branson are pretty agressive and 5 minutes like in this video is way to long, this will damage the tiny solder connections making ur device paper weight.

I did same thing but just medical alcohol with xs max mobo in that alcohol in fridge for 3 days and nights ! Then scribble with soft toothbrush let’s see soon fingers crossed

It does, you can simply destroy backlight circuit (burned filter or diode) and then you have no picture unless you will light it up with a flashlight :)

No need to cut the metal shield to remove it, apply heat at 250deg then remove with tweezers
good but every time clean first check old lcd connector and fix to check otherwise put new lcd check for better because old lcd connector anyproblem demage your lcd filter or ic

So... The ultrasonic cleaner remove the vcc_main short? Without swapping any caps on the line? I don't know... This case too far easy to me by the look of the board before the bath. If the short is there before the bath, it has to be an shorted capacitor, and it has to be removed or swapped with a new one to relieve the short, just the bath would not fix it, it's very unlikely

Hi. I just doing some ultrasonic on my ip6 logic board and once i conmnct the lcd, boot logo appeared but dimming. You have to check with the bright light than u can see the logo. Hows that possible?

Hi I have iPhone 6 which is water damaged and it has lot of data but didn't save in icloud, The phone is turning on I can listen the sound vibrates getting calls msgs everything is working except the screen the screen is not coming I can see some lines on the screen. I did open the phone and its not that much damaged like this phone in the video I kept in alcohol about 2 mins and cleaned up with a brush but after assembling it not show up. Please Help Thanks

Normally the battery should operate and output at a lower voltage than 5V. When you charge it, normally the voltage to the battery is higher than the battery itself. However I can see what you mean, but keep in mind that the board can tolerate a certain voltage range just fine.
no, even li ion battery with full charge only reach 4.2-4.3v, 5v is a little bit high
I guess if Tigris has a voltage input range up to 5v or more it would be safe but no datasheet available to be sure
mrsemifixit phone does have voltage regulator to provide exact voltage for separated component so 5v would probably fine for this phone but it's not guarantee to work fine on another phone

Everyone who's repairing water damaged phone uses ultrasonic cleaner from about 2014...
Never use ultrasonic for water damage repair, only handy cleaning. If water near IC , IC remove , cleans and reball , then check resistance. Never try to power on logic board with power supply. Only after fix

I would love to do things like this. However this is when the investment costs get serious and you have to get things like a decent ultrasonic machine. And a microscope to check your work properly.

I am gonna buy all this equipment, and the work station...Oh and the electron microscope, and diagnostics, and get a degree in electronics. Then, do this for myself, what a feeling of accomplishment I will have, when it actually works??? I may just get a new iphone X instead, and save time and money. :-D

Ur pretty much screwed. They're burned in the LCD so the only option is to replace it.

Your shop is broken. I have a iphone 5 that hasn’t been used for 3 years with a broken battery, a iphone 6 with very mild display water damage and a iphone 5s which battery is at its end.
